@syntell Now you seen a little bit of Pyramids of Mars (in Empire of Death) This is the right point in series 4 to watch a classic story called Genesis of the Daleks - the reason why will become clear.

The next 6 episodes are a pretty legendary run of episodes of nothing but bangers. There’s a reason series 4 is considered one of the top new who seasons by us whovians

This is the first, and, to date, only appearance of the Vashta Nerada on TV, but since previous Doctors record audio spin-offs, the Fourth, Seventh, Eighth and Ninth have dealt with them in "earlier" adventures.

The actress who played Ms. Evangelists recently got married to actor Thomas Brodie-Sangeter. Brodie-Sangater played Johen Reed in Game of Thrones. He also played Tim Latimer in the Doctor Who two parter “Human Nature” and “Family of Blood”

I remember the first time I watched it I had to immediately rewatch it. The joy I'm getting watching these guys discover it for the first time is immeasurable.

Took me a few years to realise that Miss evangelista wasn't saying ice cream she was saying "I scream", because the last thing she did was scream so her last thought was 'i scream'. Which makes it even more chilling.

One of the greatest 2-parters in the show which introduces one of the best characters in the show

Ahhhh! I'm so excited for the rest of the season. Every single episode starting from this one is perfection.

The Prince in Hellboy 2 was Nuada, named after an Irish god. The name Vashta Nerada may sound similar but no direct connection. I love your reactions by the way and the deep analysis that always follows. You guys really get into the flesh and bones of what makes the show great (and Moffat always puts plenty of meat on the bones)

Vashta Nerada - Silence in the library was filmed late January and early February 2008, aired May 2008 Nuada - Hellboy II was released in July 2008.

Two visual echoes from the late 60s here and I often have wondered, every time I see this, if the Grand Moff saw these also and stored in that great brain of his. One, DC Comics "The Bride Cast Two Shadows": The Flash must exorcise from a young woman's body the spirit of a bride dead for a hundred years, who was engaged to a double for Barry Allen. The Flash #194 is an issue of the series The Flash (Volume 1) with a cover date of February, 1970. It was published on December 4, 1969. which I bought from a little newsagents in Suffolk in about March 1970. The woman cast two shadows, her own and the bride. And Two: An episode of Scooby Doo: Where Are You? called "Spooky Space Kook" Scooby, Shaggy and the gang find themselves on an abandoned military base where they see a UFO and then a glowing alien. The alien is actually a walking, cackling space suit with a glowing skull. Ring some bells I wonder, Moffat ol' lad?

For the record a million million is the old english numerical system which is about the equivalent of billion in old english give or take. In some cases its a trillion, usaully in in the USA and financial or politics Its not used anymore and the UK adopted the US numerical system as it was simpler. But in the Doctor who universe its still used.

Oh wow, I’d never heard that one about elders but it’s absolute truth….. and beautifully said. You won’t be disappointed by the second half of this this. Trust that you will find answers to your questions. I love watching you guys back and forth to figure it out after,I can see the hamsters running, I had no idea they were on steroids!

I think this is my favourite two parter of all time! Loved the mystery of river song and the sinister vashta nerada

This isn’t really a spoiler, though nothing in this two-parter contradicts the idea, but Moffat revealed in a 2020 Doctor Who Magazine article that according to internal correspondence during production of series 4, Doctor Moon was intended to be a future version of the Doctor, specifically the 45th, (I don’t know whether they’ve already recorded their reaction to Forest of the Dead so I hesitate to explain exactly how that works, and so I’ve chosen to leave it unexplained until that video gets uploaded,) moreover in this same article Moffat posits that the idea that Moon is the Doctor could still work in canon.

The assistant to Lux was played by the lead actress of my favorite movie: St. Trinians. I HIGHLY recommend it.

So excited we finally got here! No spoilers 😉, but what you said about Moffat is legit fact! Tennet is my favorite doctor, but Matt Smith had the best storylines. I literally think from this point through the next 2 1/2 seasons is the absolute best era of Doctor Who ever! I’m so ready to go on this journey again with y’all! 😁

Now we are in it, these next episodes are some of the best ones yet! I honestly find the Vashta Nerada to be the scariest monsters yet, I think because they pkay directly on that fear of the dark, the fear of what you can't see - and they have no weakness. The Weeping Angels are interesting and almost tragic in their solitude, that they can never be observed by each other, and while they do transport you to the past, you can continue to live a life, if not the one you would have had without them. These shadows, though, you're dead in an instant. A morbid thought, but I wonder if they eat their prey so quickly, at what moment do they go from being alive-and-eaten to dead-and-devoured? 😵‍💫 It happens so fast that their brain wave echoes can't even comprehend their death... It's funny, but up until this episode it felt like "Spoilers!" was itself a bit of a spoiler, so if nothing else it'll be good to reference that freely! I cannot wait to see your reactions to the next one, to see what you got right, what you got wrong, and what you never saw coming! Let's just say there was one prediction here that really surprised me!

Oh snaps!!!! This episode was actually my second time watching Doctor Who back in the day! I first watched Matt Smith's version of the Doctor *No Spoilers*, then I watched this episode. I was both confused, but satisfied lol. However, this episode got me hooked to the series! 🙏🏽💪
