Being someone who speaks British English (I'm from NI, but I'm more exposed to British people), it's nice to see actors that just use slang and regional dialects, you wouldn't hear RDJ saying half the lines you hear in British TV, and likewise you wouldn't hear British actors like Jodie Whittaker using American dialect, and that's okay because it just shows how diverse acting is, it's not limited to certain accents, or dialects, it's just for anyone who enjoys acting

I have been a fan since the black and white days of Will Hartnell. Jodie Whittaker is the best doctor ever! She embodies the true spirit of the time travelling alien and proves that the doctor truly is whatever form it regenerates to. I think the problem is that they haven't put her up against the traditional foes up until New Year's Eve. Love her take on the dales and hope the writers put her up against more traditional foes. I love to see the old foes modernized and made scary again (as they scared me as a kid) and love to see how the new doctors deal with them in their own way!

Been watching Doctor Who since Christopher Eccleston and I would always get a little sad every time they’d announce the next Doctor especially after Matt Smith’s run. Don’t get me wrong I loved Peter Capaldi’s Doctor but Matt Smith was definitely my favorite but when they announced Jodie I was so excited and I love the kinda childish wonderment her Doctor has and now it’s coming to the end of her run and I’m sad all over again 😂

I find it funny because I’ve watched this programme since I was a kid and I thought it would be a bad idea having a girl doctor who but I think so far she is the best doctor who because she just has a classic personality that just makes me laugh and I love the idea. @@BlackStrawberry79 thing is though, when you actually look at the previous doctors (and actors) it makes sense. When they go through regeneration they do or say something that carries on to the next one. Twelve talked about joy and stuff, and that's characterised perfectly by Thirteen. Not only that, but all the actors were (to a certain degree) just acting how they normally act, the doctor's personality reflected the actor. I haven't been a long time fan, I only got into the series at the start of this season, but it definitely feels right. It's not the same, but it's not bad. The new style is partly what brought me to this franchise, and I have to say I like it. It's not as dark as the previous seasons (especially the early ones) and they kept the doctor's eccentricity (I had watched a few episodes of previous series as a sort of mini catch up) and just tweaked it. Her personality changed, yes, but it changed with society. This one is a lot more upbeat and energetic, which matches most people in Britain (from personal experience), so all in all I'd say it's not bad writing, and definitely not bad acting, but maybe it's just too drastic of a change for some people

I've watched Dr Who since the 60s. This is bad writing and bad acting. To say these people have never written a show like this before is not true. Chibnal has written plenty of scripts for this series in the past. He was a big fan of the classic series.

dont agree, its her as well, if its the wrinting then why hasnt she complained to chibnall the the scripts are bad and its making her unpopular?. she and chibnall are a pair of lemons and are in on it together. in all the interviews she has done not once has she complained about the stories if fact she praised them and said if chibnall goes so will she.

Jodie is doing an excellent job at being the doctor. Story lines are not that strong. A little too political for a show that I look to for entertainment but Jodie is excellent. NB I love her character and the outfit choice is brilliant.

What they're actually doing is telling women that are not able to create their own franchise characters, instead they need to steal stuff from men which is utter rubbish. there's been many good strong female characters in the past like, Ellen Ripley, Xena Warrior Princess, Jessica Fletcher Cagney and Lacey, Lara Croft, Red Sonja, The Bride just to name a few. One of my new found hobbies is finding comments by fans claiming that the series died with the new doctor. It's been happening every time since the 60s. There was outrage when Troughton took over from Hartnell and there is outrage now. Some things never change. :)

Jodie, you can not an actor out of a paper bag. Bradley Walsh is not a very good actor and on ITV all the times with the rubbished The Chase

Before she appeared as the Doctor, I had not seen any of her work so I had no idea what kind of actress she was. That was just the same as previous actors who portrayed the Doctor. I didn't mind them hiring a female for the role so I gave her a fair chance. I could have liked her portrayal but she is truly awful and the stories are awful too, which I blame Chris Chibnall for.

series 11 is more boring than the other, but not the worst. And Jodie is great, the writing is just a tad off

Very much agree. And it's not actually *the* Doctor. Jodi's regeneration is actually the regeneration of a 10 billionth generation copy of the doctor. If you remember Heaven Sent, the Doctor died after a handful of days in the prison he was sent to. Each time he died, he activated the matter transporter which held his pattern, creating a copy of himself. And given that a copy always contains flaws, she is not the Doctor.

@@toffeebrain4793 No, I said that a copy of the original is flawed. That does not mean the original is flawless. I would say nice try, but it was not. And if that *was* what I was saying then by my statement, it would mean Jodi is flawed, *very* flawed.

No Jodie you don’t play the doctor in doctor who because the imposter who took over in episode 1 of series 11 isn’t the legendary 55 character that has been beloved by generations.

Awful series, Doctor and writing. I hope rumors true are and she will be gone end 2020. BBC tried and failed badly. Clean start with all these idiots gone and move on to 14th. As a fellow Yorkshire man my advise to Jodie is stick to kitchen sink drama, your better at that and way over you head with sci fi. Just move on.

She is so bad in this role. I don't know why she took this role as it's obvious she knows nothing about Doctor Who....

She is awful, just awful.
