The urban skin rx even tone cleansing was actually a game changer for my dark spots. I've gone through 3 jars. It's a bit drying and the sponge that comes with it gives a mild exfoliation which I enjoy . I have oily skin and whitehead prone BTW. 😊😊

Hydroquinone is horrible and every time it was prescribed, I got a lot more of hyperpigmentation when I stopped it!! No MORE for me!

My fav is the even tone cleansing bar. I've gone through 3 jars and it worked for my dark spots. It's too bad she doesn't like it 😅

Thanks for doing this video. I don’t often see reviews of brands that are Black owned or created by POC. I’m interested to see what you think of the brand Hyper Skin. They only have one product so far, so it would be a quick video. Maybe better suited for Instagram or Tik Tok.

I will say the one you said was irritating to the skin did give me a slight burn on my cheek after using the vitamin c bar. So I use that bar at nite and the combo in the morning. The serum every other day. The hydrabalance and hydra serum are amazing. Thank you for the video.

Im surprised you didnt include the blemish control mask. Dr Alexis Stephens recommends it as part of a plan to manage hormonal acne. It works absolute wonders!

Thanks so much for all the brilliant info, Dr. V! Hyperpigmentation is my lifelong struggle, so I really appreciate all the knowledge you share! Can you please recommend some hydrating ingredients/products that *don't* include humectants? Is that even possible, or would water + moisturizers be my only option? When I use ingredients like hyaluronic acid, my skin gets incredibly dry (aside from maybe two mildly humid weeks of the year). Even when the humectant is on damp skin and I use layers of moisturizers with heavy emollients, my dry climate sucks it all away in an hour. But us dry-climate folks need some extra hydration this time of year! Any suggestions? Maybe I just need to find a portable humidifier.

So the pH of the actives or ingredients needed to be comparable? I need to replay this part. You're a gem, I'm learning so much. Thank you!

She spot on i used alot these products it gave me great results but when I ran out for a couple weeks and my hyperpigmentation came back within that short period of time I've also noticed now whenever I get a pimple whether I pick or not its leaves a dark spot which is and issue I didn't have before, currently looking for a new skincare regimen because the products no longer work for me the way use to.

I currently use the Even Tone cleansing bar, which work fine but irritates my skin if left on longer than 3-5 minutes. The resurfacing at home pads, which work fine and gives me smoother skin. Then the retinol rapid repair dark spot treatment, which i had to stop using because it ALWAYS breaks my skin out.

Love your videos. The information you provide has made me rethink skin care for skin of color. Please recommend physical sunscreens from Indian brands. Also please do a skin care for dry skin with Indian brands. There are hardly any products in Indian skincare that target dry skin without the presence of added fragrance and essential oils

Dr V. I am using Azclear azelaic acid 20% w/w available in Australia but was using the Cosrx Snail mucin essence after it. I have switched to using the essence before azelaic acid and it has worked wonders. Thank you so so much. Essences can be used instead of toners? Also what are your thoughts of rose water as a toner?

Hello! I have been learning so much from you this past month and am very grateful for what you share!! You mention No fragrance in skincare at all. Is there any oils or substances which happen to have a nice scent? Maybe like Sweet Almond Oil (i dont know what it smells like though)? I used to make my own body creams with shea butter and moved to Cetraban and have experienced quick healing from sun burnt skin! Also- What is good for us to use for sun damaged POC skin? Just know she is speaking facts. I used that Even Tone night serum and while it did clear my hyperpigmentation over time my skin became irritated with it. Started to dry up so I stopped and it came back within 2 weeks with a vengeance.

I wish you had included the Even Tone Serum from Urban Skin RX. I use it but am not sure if it's good. It's 10% L-ascorbic acid + some kojic acid and other things. I've used 2 bottles and it doesn't seem harmful, at least.

I have a question, suppose I do a AHA BHA peel tonight (after making sure it suits me), is it okay to continue with my usual tretinoin application from the next night? Or do I need to have a break in between?

Never heard of this brand but thank you really for insight on the actives. I have made quite a few impactful changes bcoz of your knowledge and seen positive results. Pls review Pyunkang Yul, illiyoon, Benton, I'm from... Also is bee propolis good for skin of colour? It's used in korean skincare and I have been intrigued by it.

Amazing video Dr. V! I had a question regarding Vitamin C derivatives; I can never tolerate L-ascorbic acid. I use THD as my Vit C. What do you think about THD, is it as effective as the traditional L-ascorbic acid?

Same!! I emailed and asked them what the percentage of the niacinamide in their 10% azaleic acid was, and they informed me that it was 2% of niacinamide. So in terms of percentage, they check the box

Good morning Dr. V. My problem is not aging or wrinkling, it is hypo pigmentation. I had these light spots on my cheeks since puberty. I am now in my late 30s. I used Hydroquinone in an attempt to bleach, but as soon as I saw the damage it was doing to my skin, I stopped. Yes I tried to bleach my skin by age 13-14 due to bullying. I thought I was having vitiligo at first, I got so scared and went to see a Dr., he kicked me out of his office accusing me of wasting his time for such a minor health concern. This was in West Africa BTW. Since then, I never brought up my hypo pigmented cheeks as a health concern to a medical practioner but I always cover it up with makeup when ever possible. They are spreading and my skin around that area are thinner. Thank you for all you do for us Dr. V and sorry for the long note.
