For me, the harpsichord performance has become a symbol of Dr. Strange. While watching the recently released Spider-Man: No Way Home, I was thrilled to hear the sound of the harpsichord as soon as the sanctum sanctorum appeared.

It did find it's way into popular music for a while back in the mid to late 60's during the short-lived Baroque pop renaissance spearheaded by such musical acts (and songs) as *_The Beatles_*_ (Piggies), _*_The Kinks_*_ (Two Sisters), _*_Simon and Garfunkel_*_ (Leaves that Green), _*_Donovan_*_ (Bert's Blues), _*_The Zombies_*_ (Smokey Day), _*_The Left Banke_*_ (Barterer's and Their Wives),_ *The Beau Brummels* (Magic Hollow) and many others. And I do agree with you, it is a very lovely, lyrical and evocative instrument.

The ancestor of piano, by the way. I love when some American and Japanese composers know and respect "classic" (and romantic, and so on) music and instruments, even when these instruments were used long before USA existence or before Japan entered the modern world. Cultural curiosity and learning, awesome.

I'm disappointed at Danny Elfman just totally not bothering to use the harpsichord and instead just going with the same old Tim Burton beats. I think at this point it's synonymous to use the harpsichord for Doctor Strange. Hell, they even used it in other movies like "No Way Home" to introduce him.
