The guy commenting on Number 19's impressive skill with the bat is Danny Lloyd, who played the original Danny. He never really pursued acting (he was only in one other film after The Shining), but came back to do that cameo.

I am still shocked every time I look at the actor that they cast for Jack in this and remember he played Elliott in ET. He is in a LOT of this director's projects and I am so glad he has kept acting because he was always a natural.

27:50 - I was very lucky to have seen this in movie theaters in 2019, this scene alone gave me goosebumps. You FELT the heartbeat, the whole ground/theater shook each time. The scene still fucks with my mind how it looks.

13:29 Did you notice that the office is almost identical to Ullmans office when he interviews Jack in The Shining? Even a red cover at the top of the books at the desk, but this time it isn't Jungian. Just a binder. (Well, I just watched a minute more and you did notice.) :)

It wasn't just the office, Watson's head tilt and arm and hand positions at one stage perfectly mimic how Ullman tilted his head to the side, elbows on table, and had his right hand go over the top of his left hand.

Fun fact: The lady in the movie theater who was influencing that pedophile did not have the shining. She was a Pusher, and it's another psychic power in the Stephen King universe that is important in the novel Firestarter where the dad had the ability to put ideas in people's heads to get him to do what he wanted. The only problem is is that unlike this girl, he wasn't born with the ability, and so it eventually caused him to have a brain aneurysm, and he acquired it as the result of the government experiment that he volunteered for in college.

Up is down and left is right when there's a sequel to The Shining and it doesn't suck?! Yep, adjust your clocks. I don't love it as much as the original, but it's a good film in its own right, and I'm glad to have it

Mike Flanagan was the perfect director for this. He has an incredible way of terrifying and moving you. All of his work captures human stories so beautifully, while shaking you to the core. I’d highly recommend The Haunting of Hill House.

12:07 it's so messed up once u realize that the little boy died because he starved to death....slowley and painfully dying next to his mother who was already dead from O.Ding....ugh it tore my heart up watching that scene!

One of the differences in director cut from theatrical is that the *super rough to sit through* scene is longer. There’s a bit more to the conversations between Dan & Dick, and Dan & “Jack/Lloyd”. There’s a little more depth in his hospice moments. Not a ton of differences, just little extra moments sprinkled in that I think overall add to character depth/connections. Also a side note - agree with many other posters here that this movie is spectacular. Flanagan is an amazing creator, the Doctor Sleep book is great, and who doesn’t love Ewan. So when I heard of the three combining for this film I was ecstatic and so so SO impatient to see it. I was not disappointed!

If you were half as affected by the performance of the Baseball Boy as I was (and the rest of the cast reported themselves to have been), I thought I'd recommend another movie of his that earned four Oscar nominations and got Brie Larson her Best Actress win. The movie is called Room (2015).

I have really enjoyed your videos! Doctor Sleep is one of my all-time favorites. It is a great example of how to do a sequel correctly! Rebecca Ferguson originally turned the film down because she hated violence on children depicted on film, but she made an exception because it was Stephen King. Rebecca Ferguson is so brilliant in this. She also played Jenny Lind in "The Greatest Showman." She is a phenomenal singer! Happy New Year!

Hi guys. Am so glad you took the time to view this movie. Being a massive fan of 'The Shining' this movie was a difficult watch ,being as graphic as it was, particularly with the murder of of the little boy 😥 . . When Danny returns to the hotel I got sooo excited just with how much attention to detail it paid to the overall effect. Much love to you guys xxxxx 🌹

The only small detail they got wrong in the Overlook was the "great party isn't it?" Guest. In the shining he had an English accent . In doctor sleep it was American. I really enjoyed this film though

what I don't understand is if the hotel burned down, why does the bathtub lady still exist at the end, when Abra went to the washroom disappointed it do as well at the box office, which pretty much ends any chance of another sequel, because there are other knots

  • @sakbromely

The ghosts are part of the hotel but they are also apart from the hotel. The hotel itself is an entity of it's own and the ghosts are both its enforcers and its victims. The ghosts, like the hotel, marked Abra the moment she came into contact with them (specifically when she was in the confrontation with possessed Danny who was possessed by the ghosts and the hotel). Danny succeeded in killing the hotel, which was the greatest threat, but the ghosts can follow Abra just like they did Dan. The difference, I think, is that when Abra locks them away they really do die just like they did with Dan in the books because they aren't leeching power from the hotel anymore.

Oh, and don't be put off by that title. Director Tobe Hooper did an excellent job. Like the original "Halloween" (directed by John Carpenter), you are scared to death by what you DON'T see. There is actually little to no blood in the movie. In fact, Hooper thought the movie should have been given a PG rating!!
