King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer
I'm a doctor, and I think we need to talk this. Because the King wanted to announce this to raise awareness, so let's talk about in a sensible way.
Let me explain what we know so far. We know that the King has recently had a stay in hospital. He had a procedure for benign prostate enlargement, otherwise known benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
And apparently on further investigation, they found a cancer and he is currently undergoing treatment. They mentioned it's not prostate cancer, which happens to be the most common cancer in mine.
It's not my place to speculate on
A) where the cancer might be
B) what treatment the King is having
C) the general state of his health.
But I think it's a strong message from Buckingham Palace that cancer awareness is important and deserves to be talked about. And the king is optimistic about his treatment.
