    Speaking of Megakaryocyte, she's actually in Cells at Work, I can't recall which season, but you can see her giving the platelets a medal for doing a good job in one of the episodes. It's understandable that you didn't include her as she's not in the show much, but it's great that you still touched on the cell itself and its role!

    My honest opinion. I think the Natural Killer Cell should be S tier. Like your said, it does everything a T Cell does but more. It can kill your own cells when needed. So to put them in the same league as the T cell doesn't seem fair to them. Also, considering cancer is the 2nd highest cause of death and these NK cells are vital to recognizing the cancer cells and destroying them whereas a T cell wouldn't have noticed it as fast or at all. We see this in the Cells at Work Anime. It's one of my favorite episodes because it's gives to a better understanding of how cancer works and how your immune system combats it. Without the NK cell I think even more people would die from cancer than there already are. Thank you for listing to my TED talk.

    I saw this somewhere in the comments but I think T-Reg cells deserve a mention here too! She's also in the anime depicted as the lieutenant to the helper T commander. I just learned in a lecture a few days ago that T-Reg cells regulate T cell response. T-Reg cells: 1) compete directly with other T cells for Interleukin-2, reducing the amount of IL-2 available to stimulate T cell proliferation and causing T cell apoptosis. 2) can down regulate mr. dendritic cell by inhibiting dendritic maturation and function 3) can directly cause apoptosis of T cells through the perforin-granzyme pathway. I'm not sure exactly how important they are to the body's overall regulation of inflammatory responses though. still learning

    Going by the anime and how she could no-sell both Killer T and NK, that'd put her at S tier as is, bumped down a tier for being fooled by Cancer Cell to result in A-tier. At least that's my non-expert opinion.

  • @mnArqal93

    @mnArqal93

    Yeah, the fact the Regulatory T-Cell just can't instantly recognise how harmful cancer cells are is a big let down. If I remember from the anime, I believe she recognises the risk eventually though, so assume something similar happens in our bodies on a daily basis. I'd agree with putting them in A-Tier though.

    she keeps the T-cells in check so they don't go too crazy. They give off cytokines that down regulates pro inflammatory cytokines and can sometimes literally make a T cell go through apoptosis (cell DNA shrinks and is broken apart into 180 bp long pieces, everything inside the cell is broken up and wrapped up into neat lipid bi-layer garbage bags) through the perforin granzyme pathway. She's one of the reasons why we don't all have autoimmune problems all the time and have crazy inflammation everywhere. I'm still learning and don't know all of what t-reg cell does though so I can't be sure

    I love how he sees himself as the Helper T-Cell and puts only himself at the top tier with the love of his life, the Macrophage!

    In undergrad med micro (400), we were told about using a modified HIV virus to cure a certain type of leukemia. They said the patient wouldn't have any B Cell adaptive response because the virus had killed them all (healthy and cancerous). I may be misremebering things, but it was definitely a very cool treatment.
