Doctor explains Laryngeal cancer (voice-box cancer) | Symptoms, causes and treatment

In this video Doctor O'Donovan explains key things you need to know about cancer of the voice-box (laryngeal cancer) including signs and symptoms. We also will cover investigations and what happens when you go to see your doctor.
Laryngeal cancer is a type of cancer that affects the larynx (voice box).
The larynx is part of the throat found at the entrance of the windpipe (trachea). It plays an important role in helping you breathe and speak.
In the UK, there are more than 2,000 new cases of laryngeal cancer each year.
The condition is more common in people over the age of 60. It's more common in men than women.
SYMPTOMS OF LARYNGEAL CANCER:
According to the NHS UK:
The main symptom of laryngeal cancer is having a hoarse voice for more than 3 weeks.
Other symptoms include:
a change in your voice, such as sounding hoarse
pain when swallowing or difficulty swallowing
a lump or swelling in your neck
a long-lasting cough or breathlessness
a persistent sore throat or earache
a high-pitched wheezing noise when you breathe
in severe cases, difficulty breathing
Some people may also experience bad breath, unintentional weight loss, or fatigue (extreme tiredness).
IMPORTANT:
Many of these symptoms are very common and can be caused by different conditions. Having them does not definitely mean you have CANCER. But it's important to get them checked by a DOCTOR. This is because if they're caused by cancer, finding it early may mean it's easier to treat.

I am suffering from vocal cord Cancer squamous cell carcinoma diagnosed in April 2022. I was treated by radiation therapy completed in July 2022. No chemotherapy treatment was required as per recommend by oncologist. I took continue follow with my ENT especialist. Now this year doctor says that again Cancer is recurring on vocal cord and now only option is complete removal of voice box. Still reports of CT scan, MRI and biopsy is pending. If supposed reports are positive than what are other options except removal of voice box i.e chemotherapy, partially excision of affected area of VC. Please suggest me to take decision. Thanks

My father has some of these symptoms. At first he was only in pain, but he hasn't had a low voice for two weeks. He went to a doctor and was told that there was a lump in his left vocal cords You need a CT scan of the neck. I don't know. I'm afraid it's cancer. Does every tumor have to be cancer?
