Doctor explains potential SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS of LIVER CANCER | plus causes, prevention & treatment

In this video Doctor O'Donovan explains possible signs and symptoms of liver cancer, including causes, prevention, investigations, treatment and more.
WHAT IS LIVER CANCER?
- Liver cancer is a cancer that's found anywhere in the liver.
- The liver is a large organ at the top right side of your tummy which helps you digest your food and removes toxins.
- Liver cancer can sometimes start in your liver (primary) or spread from another organ (secondary).
- How serious liver cancer is depends on where it is in the liver, how big it is, if it has spread, if it's primary or secondary and your general health.

SYMPTOMS OF LIVER CANCER:
Liver cancer may not have any symptoms, or they might be hard to spot.
The symptoms are the same if the liver cancer starts in the liver (primary liver cancer) or spreads from another part of the body (secondary liver cancer).
Symptoms of liver cancer can include:
A. the whites of your eyes turning yellow or your skin turning yellow, which may be less obvious on brown or black skin (jaundice) - you may also have itchy skin, darker pee and paler poo than usual
B. loss of appetite or losing weight without trying to
C. feeling tired or having no energy
D. feeling generally unwell or having symptoms like flu
E. a lump in the right side of your tummy
Other symptoms can affect your digestion, such as:
1. feeling or being sick
2. pain at the top right side of your tummy or in your right shoulder
symptoms of indigestion, such as feeling full very quickly when eating
3. a very swollen tummy that is not related to when you eat
Tips on getting the most out of your doctors appointment:
- Write down your symptoms including when they started, when they happen and how often you have them.
- Write down anything that makes them worse or better.
- Tell your doctor if you are worried about cancer.
- Tell them if you have any family history of cancer.
- Take a friend or relative along for support - they could also ask questions and take notes to help you remember what the GP says.
- Ask the doctor to explain anything you don't understand.
- Ask the doctor to write things down for you if you think it might help.

I was just diagnosed with terminal 4th stage colon cancer that spread to my liver. I am 64 and have decided to do “Comfort Care Only” through in home hospice care. What time I have left, I want to live it! I spoke with many nurses in ICU and asked them straight questions. They all agreed with my decision. I am at peace and happy thanks to my faith in Jesus Christ. My kids are totally supportive. I have 2-6 months to live according to doctors. For all those suffering the same diagnoses, what ever your decision is, I pray that the Lord would give you peace.

I am 53. I had my appendix removed in 1989. I had my gal bladder removed in 2011, due to gal stones. I had kidney stones, due to drinking to many sodas. I stopped drinking sodas after passing the stones. May 6th of 2023, I had a part of my upper intestine removed with a ruptured tumor. Last month, I had a CT scan with Iodine. Now I have an enlarged liver, and also have hypodense lesions measuring 10mm. Will I need surgery? I have never smoked, nor taken any illegal drugs, and stopped drinking alcohol in 1990, and no longer drink sodas. The CT scan also shows a I have an enlarged spleen, and I am just really worried. My right side hurts, and I am always bloated after eating. My dr. is on vacation right now...

What do the labs look like? My liver enzymes are astronomical and the pain is progressively getting worse. Yesterday the pain changed to feeling like I am bruised and it hurts to turn. My WBC is also low and it has never in my life been low. In fact, they usually run higher when nothing is wrong. My RDW is also high.

It's good to know there are different options and different reasons you could have liver cancer. I have heard that the liver is the only organ that can rejuvenate itself from a small piece. I will be looking for more videos that discuss that

I have a leiomyosarcoma that has spread to my liver! What symptoms should I expect? There were spots in my lungs that have resolved due to seven weeks of radiation treatments! I have also had eight treatments of Chemotherapy treatment (the red devil) Doxorubicin/Adriamycin! Scans last week to determine the effect of that treatment! I just do not know what to expect in the future?

Update. I had an ultrasound on my liver, and they said it was ok except a little fatty. I had blood work, and i had a positive ANA, so they've run even more blood work, and im currently waiting on all those results. They're thinking autoimmune. However, I did get some of the blood work back already, and my liver is ok.
