Your on point with this take, if he was that good of a coach he would've had more championships with those stacked teams he's had. Boston practically didn't need him to get that championship. KG, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Rondo and the rest of the squad were going to win that year with or with out Doc

This is emphatically false. Doc took the team to Africa and they came back with "Ubunto" mentality which is translated as "I am because we are". He got Ray Allen, who was an All-NBA All Star to accept a JJ Redick role and Rondo was a headcase with every single coach he played for except for Doc. Leadership starts at the top and KG echoed it on the floor. That's why they won.

What teams were stacked? Lob city? The Clippers were a fun team, but Griffin and D Jordon isn't getting done in the playoffs. The 76ers with Ben Simmons or Harden who hasn't been good in the playoffs anywhere. Maybe he overachieved in the regular season. It's hard to win a championship. As good as Celtics have been, last title was in 09 under Doc.

@@orchang2 My point is Clippers were a fun team, but is a team with Blake Griffin, D Jordon and CP3 really stacked or expected to win a chip? They were going against the Warriors in that era who were stacked. Also LeBron and Cavs. He had 1 year with Leonard and PG and it was the crazy COVID bubble year. Yes he had Embid, but 2nd best player was Simmons who's terrible and then Harden who has a terrible post season record, team cancer, etc. I'm not saying he's a perfect coach, but other than those early Celtics teams, he didn't have a team that was expected to win a chip. Guy makes it seem like he had Steph, Klay and KD and lost every year, or LeBron, Wade and Bosh.

If you put a good coach on either of the clippers teams with cp3, Griffin or Kawhi and pg they win a ring. If Kerr, popovich, Riley, Spultra are coaching his celtics teams, both of his clippers teams, his Philadelphia teams they would have at least 3-4 rings. If phil Jackson is coaching those teams they're winning at least 5-6 rings.

nice job. as a long time clipper fan. I loved how doc handled the donald sterling issue. I just don't like how he handles in game adjustments. We should have never lost to the Denver nuggets in the bubble. They kept running pick and roll and the top of the key with joker and murry and doc didn't make any adjustments until it was too late. While injuries were a thing with some of the earlier clipper losses, he blew the 3-1 lead against the rockets. what is the role of the coach? I think part of it is to get the players aligned to a common goal and playing hard.

this is just the NBA talking heads stirring up content. Doc Rivers is candid and always has been and he's literally working for the media in half these statements which means it's his job to speak the truth. He played for some epic teams and epic coaches and lost a lot as a coach before he learned what it takes to win. And he's 100% correct on his takes on unity and cooperation, and what makes him a great coach is he's not afraid to call out his players and as a fan I like that. He's blown some leads but Doc never played a single minute. Coaches can certainly lose games if they don't call timeouts properly or don't have good enough plays but that's not Doc's problem. In the end, Doc didn't win that championship, KG, Pierce and Ray Allen did by buying into team basketball and so obviously James Harden reverting to Houston-ball wasn't going to win. And the Clippers are cursed and always have been. There are 8 current coaches who've won titles and Doc is one of them (bubble chip was fake sorry Vogel). This puts him in elite company. If you can't win with Doc it's because the team isn't good enough or won't buy in, end of story. JJ Redick is just salty because he's a fake starter on a championship team. No team is ever winning a championship with JJ Redick starting it simply never would have happened even with God Himself as coach.

Kobe said the same thing about Harden and y’all sucked him off for it but if Doc says it he’s wrong? Besides he was answering the questions asked to him. And didn’t compare himself to Pop, he was making a point would you ask someone you really respect that question? No ? Don’t ask me then. He wasn’t tolerating disrespect. When Phil’s Jackson says weren’t not getting back to our spots or our heads weren’t in the game you don’t pick it apart but when Doc dies it’s “he’s throwing teammates under the bus.”. Or he’s answering the damn question he was asked.

What I see is a whole bunch of people having their brains programmed. All these people are furious at Doc. Why? Do you even know why? Only one team can win, but people jump on about 25 guys heads, every year, for not winning. Now everyone is mad at Doc. Press asks him a question. He answers. They say he is making excuses. A bunch of sucker sh#t. The real game is how many people get mad when they are told to be mad, on cue, without them knowing they are only mad because they were TOLD to be mad. Doc said he was out chilling on a walk, his phone rang, they asked if he wanted to coach Greek for $40 million. He said yes and y'all get mad? What kind of goofball sh#t is that? Who says no to $40 mil, when you were just strolling on the beach? I don't understand. People don't know how to think anymore. Greek needs to play some damn defense!!! GM needs to stop trading away all the defenders. Dame never played defense, but you want to get mad at Doc because Dame isn't playing defense? I could barely understand if y'all WERE Bucks fans. Y'all not no damn Bucks fans. Y'all don't even watch the damn games. They got y'all mad at Lonzo. He did nothing to no one. Y'all got mad at Russ because Skip told you to. Y'all just got done being mad at D Lo. Now it's Doc's turn. If the Bucks win 3 straight, they will find someone else to tell you to be mad at. Got your mind right off that terrible all star game. NBA boys got beat by the G league boys. Not mad at that? NBA boys won't play hard because they only care about money, screw the fans. Y'all not mad at that. Only Doc. Unbelievable. Ever heard the saying " you worried about the wrong thing"? The players just blew the bag. Not playing, trying to finesse trades, blah, blah, blah. What do you think all these aprons are? It's called paycuts. The salary cap may go up, but two players will take 70 percent of that, then the other 13 players will split 30 percent. When THAT reality kicks in, they won't be mad at Doc anymore...
