Not this. Funny how you definer her active-listening-agreement as 'interrupting". That was two people having a normal conversation. Because humans CO-exist, so their conversations and thoughts CO-exist. This weird egg-headed man is so obsessed with himself that he can't imagine that he is just another Asburgers.

Yes. But part of the unintended interruption is a showing of I’m listening and agreeing with what you’re saying. We do it all the time. Back in the day when people used phones to converse you would occasionally throw in a mhmm to let the person know you’re still there “physically” and mentally.

Disagree. She's affirming and supporting what he's saying. She says, "yeah" and he repeates that, feeling he's being heard and understood.

The greatest fulfillment in a relationship is giving to the other, and the feeling of appreciation. AIs do not have needs that can allow them to feel appreciation.

This is an interesting question. You could also phrase the question differently: How well, or how complete, should an AI mimic human behaviour, for us to feel real affection for it. I am afraid that the answer is going to be: very little. In some ways we do not even like humans all that much.

Not only can they give 100% to the one engaged but 100% to everyone and thing around them.

That may be the case, but the AI cannot do anything else. Where as a human, having their own internal world, choose to focus on you. I feel that is innately more valuable. In other words, I would take the 5% a human can give me over the 100% of AI.

The farther we move away from what’s always been since the beginning of creation, the more incredibly self centric, sterile, & boring life will become!

I'm pretty sure that's the intention of those who espouse it. Ever seen that Ecconomist cover from Dec 2012.

I can imagine an AI confessional booth. When I am hurting with sadness,anger,remorse,loss I just need to be heard by someone who understands and cares. Many people are not comfortable witnessing pain. Their responses are often weak and unhelpful if not actually damaging. I might be better comforted by AI.

AI is created by the same people who can't help you with your problems, what makes you think it will be acceptable? And feelings like sadness and stuff are destined to end with this world when God is going to judge and destroy it, isn't that beautiful? All pain gone once and for all for everyone who believes Jesus is the son of God who died for our sins

Perhaps AI programs are indeed created by people with faults and shortcomings. But when their AI product fails to perform, it teaches itself how to improve.

it's so true that people are not comfortable hearing and relating to somebody in pain or with a terminal illness and they say dismissive and hurtful things, like, "I am sure you will feel better soon."

The irony is that when humans show "made up" emotions to one another, it is being called dishonest, AFAIK. But when an AI is mirroring an emotion that it does not really "feel" itself, it apparently is a "dream" partner, as Yuval put it. Have yet to wrap my head around this one, I guess ;D

AI would be an excellent counsellor and mentor. Any other relationship more intimate should be banned on the AI part.

have in mind that we humans are able to love unliving things or ideologies even to fatal extremes. There are people who even fall in love with cartoons or japanese animes (mainly during teenagehood when hormones go crazy). Oh and ten years ago or so in Europe a law was made forbidding relationships with robots just as even nowadays some countries forbid relationships between people of the same gender. When a law is made to forbid something (thou shall not @@@, thou shall not steal, etc.) it's bc it's possible to do that thing and on top of it people like to do that thing. So yes. People will have intimate relationships with AI (you can be sure it will be not so harmful as @@@ or stealing). Give it time. If people like my parents who were constantly arguing with each other for the most trivial of things could have an intimate realtionship to the point of giving birth to me I don't see why people would not have a relationship with a bot.

Narcissists pretend emotions. I don't want an AI friend or counselor.

I fear the world this fellow calls nirvana.

Artifical is artifical there is lack of emotinality and spirituality there is lack of vibration of dhamma or vibration of spieiruality whwther it is apple or food or medical treatment but humans with vipassana is logical

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that AI "super coaches" will gain widespread use within a few years. Very sophisticated AI could provide people with mentoring that would vastly improve their sense of inner peace while helping them evolve emotionally and psychologically in way that would help the person be more creative, have better relationships, be better workers, and so-on. Immense potential. The aspect that concerns me is that this same exceptional ability of AI to 'reach parts of our psyche otherwise untouched' could also create bonds that could never be matched by other humans. So, again we see that AI has both enormous potential for good and enormous potential for (possibly) destructive changes.

Oh ! I just want robots to take over and supersede humans !!!

_`†_ I believe we are meant to be like Jesus in our hearts and not in our flesh. But be careful of AI, for it is just our flesh and that is it. It knows only things of the flesh (our fleshly desires) and cannot comprehend things of the spirit such as peace of heart (which comes from obeying God's Word). Whereas we are a spirit and we have a soul but live in the body (in the flesh). When you go to bed it is your flesh that sleeps but your spirit never sleeps (otherwise you have died physically) that is why you have dreams. More so, true love that endures and last is a thing of the heart (when I say 'heart', I mean 'spirit'). But fake love, pretentious love, love with expectations, love for classic reasons, love for material reasons and love for selfish reasons that is a thing of our flesh. In the beginning God said let us make man in our own image, according to our likeness. Take note, God is Spirit and God is Love. As Love He is the source of it. We also know that God is Omnipotent, for He creates out of nothing and He has no beginning and has no end. That means, our love is but a shadow of God's Love. True love looks around to see who is in need of your help, your smile, your possessions, your money, your strength, your quality time. Love forgives and forgets. Love wants for others what it wants for itself. Take note, true love works in conjunction with other spiritual forces such as patience and faith (in the finished work of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, rather than in what man has done such as science, technology and organizations which won't last forever). To avoid sin and error which leads to the death of our body and also our spirit in hell fire, we should let the Word of God be the standard of our lives not AI. If not, God will let us face AI on our own and it will cast the truth down to the ground, it will be the cause of so much destruction like never seen before, it will deceive many and take many captive in order to enslave them into worshipping it and abiding in lawlessness. We can only destroy ourselves but with God all things are possible. God knows us better because He is our Creater and He knows our beginning and our end.
