This is a small thing, but I really appreciate in your videos that the exterior shots when you are talking almost always match up with the proper time of when you were saying it inside the vehicle. For instance at 5:40 it is clear that your narration is precisely when you were saying it inside the vehicle. Most people would never notice, but for some reason it makes me smile.

Frontier is good overall, but not good off-road. The wheel braking and off-road modes do nothing on that truck. The Frontier is not very capable off-road, even with a locker. There are videos on KZread showing how the Frontier gets stuck on obstacles other trucks easily go over.

I was in the market for a good, off-road truck recently and wanted to get a Tacoma TRD Pro based on previous years. Then I saw that it wasn't released yet. Bummer... but OK. Then I saw the price increase. BIG bummer... and NOT OK. Then I saw the price for a decently-optioned TRD Off-Road (and confirmed in your video). HUGE bummer. Then I started hearing the news of failures in the line-up... coupled with the failure(s) in the Tundra... and saw how Toyota responded. So I did something I never thought I'd do - I bought a Chevrolet (still kinda makes me question myself after owning nothing but Japanese vehicles since the early 2000s), a 2024 Colorado ZR2. And I love it! MUCH more capable than the Tacoma TRD Off-Road, looks better (IMO), and it is less expensive! I seriously don't understand why people are paying what they are for anything in the Tacoma line. Sorry, Toyota - big whiff on this.

This is fully loaded with all the options possible minus the hybrid. The previous gen fully optioned was 46k. But that truck was terrible to drive and underpowered for what it is. The base offroad for this new one is 42k and the previous gen was like 38k so a little closer on price. You're paying for the new engine, transmission, and offroad tech. The old truck was ancient for sure I can't imagine paying 50k for that. Had they continued the previous gen truck inflation would have kicked it up to 50k. The tundra is a different beast. A regular doublecab not crewmax trd offroad is around 55k for the base. But because of the recall they are being marked down and rebate nearly 10k.

What I want to see is a modified Honda Acty attack or similar and see how one would do. They would need a lift and better tires but would be a fun video. Going to pick up a mini-truck or a Toyota Hiace or Toyoace diesel. Really wish we could get something between a 25 year old Kei truck and a Maverick. Give me a kei size or similar sized truck with a turbo 1.5l for $15k.

I recently saw one of these in person and was shocked at how bad the design and build quality was. Exhaust pipe hanging way out. Rear shock absorbers hanging low. Clunky, loose-fitting trim pieces, and WAY too many electrical controls. Even if it was 10K less in price, it would not be worth it.

99% of people would be better served with a mid-level 4x4 pickup. The test track used by this channel is way more challenging than anything I've ever driven on after decades of driving logging roads in deep snow while hunting. Never once have I reached for a rear locking diff switch or crawl control in all those years...4 high has always been plenty of traction as long as the tires were good. IMO a lot of people have been sold a bill of goods by influencers, advertisers, and manufacturers into thinking spending an extra 10 thousand on unnecessary options is a great idea...it's not. Save your money and spend it on good all-terrain tires...

Love this review. Who needs the TRD Pro? Insecure posers "need" the TRD Pro to go over speed bumps at Costco and their kids' schools. Real overlanders and offroaders buy the cheaper TRD Offroad, mod it, and bang it up in the wild. That's the way it is now, and it will be the same with the 4th Gen.
