@@marior.4305 No, not deleted, but he basically stopped using KZread, Facebook, and Twitter. His IndieGoGo campaign was suspended last week, and IndieGoGo is issuing backers refunds. Kerswell hasn't made an official comment, just lying in the comments section about how it's just a misunderstanding and he is close to delivery

@@marior.4305 Update on MIA Kerswell: He is now posting in IndieGoGo claiming to be one of the female team members (the one who does customer relations). Oddly, this personality is the one that deals specifically with customers, but in over 2 years has not answered an email, posted publicly, or in any way indicated it is anything more than a stock photo with a made up bio (which I suspect is the case). What a master class in incompetence or fraud.

Oh boy, a quick search shows people online calling him a scam artist & thief & saying they want to see him locked up.

@@calebsmith462 it's basically there for the giants to easily squash (or take over) any upcoming competition. even if you didn't violate any patents, you still can't afford going into a lengthy legal battle with a corporation that claims "yes, you did", which has a budget for lawyers ten times bigger than your entire revenue. and as long as you're locked in such a battle, no investor will risk investing in you, so your momentum becomes practically dead at this point.

No, protecting proprietary IP is a good idea, though the system, like all systems can and is often abused. However in this case, it's not like he had a good or original idea. His previous toys were just mass market crap be bought and resold.

Your story page says shipping in June 2019, it's now Nov 2020 and you just announced a 30-40 delay, and looking at your update history, if it isn't shipped by December, you stop working until after Chinese New Year. How do you start Jan 2019 with "production ready" and in Nov 2020 say "don't call me a scam artist" when you stopped refunds in 2019, before you entered production, have been in "production" since May 2019, but just announced ANOTHER 2 month delay? And then after an updated announcing a 30-40 day delay, said you were "close" to shipping. It's called stringing people along. It's a grift.

His company, Extreme Fliers is still going strong after 13 years. In 2016 they won the Queen's Award For Enterprise: Innovation. It seems they pivoted away from toys and more towards micro-drones. Their patent for the combined use of helicopters and powered wheels was granted.

Made a bit of profit off of drop shipping some Chinese toys, rode the wave of toy helicopters, then simple drones, the latest pitch (January 2019) being a competitor of DJI on Indiegogo with "micro drone 4.0". Almost two years later, after completely overpromising and the clever marketing lies, the selling false promises has caught up to him. I think he had good intent, but the bloke was brought down by an ego the size of mainland China itself. Unable to admit any truths, he's now arguing that everyone who speaks honestly is wrong and his words were "correct at the time."

@@vernonkerswell654 So successful you can't afford to refund people or your project will fail (according to you on the MD4 page). But you have been settling out of court when people file legal papers against you. It is almost like you are afraid of going to a hearing and having a lawyer put you on blast. Saw another backer just won judgement against you because you missed the court deadlinel, so ironic. Yeah, your company is doing just great. MD4 has less support than MD3 and still isn't close to being shipped. I can only imagine you on the Titanic "the ship is fine, no need to panic, we said it's unsinkable". I would love to see a financial report on your company.

There's no way there's a patent for any type of vehicle. A brand logo, specific make, such as a Volkswagen Beetle, or paint scheme, such as Herbie can be trademarked, but a car in general can't be trademarked. This is why rip off Star Wars ships can be sold, because they just have to look slightly different.

Leonardo Da Vinci came up with an idea for a helicopter 500 years ago, how can someone put it on a toy and claim that makes it patentable? The more I see about what apparently is allowed to be patented the more I think our patent system is total BS.

It's about the design of the specific mechanism and combination of electrical components which is original and patentable. Leonardo Da Vinci did not 'come up' with the idea for the helicopter - you have no evidence to show he is the first and that he didn't get the idea from someone else. Also, I can have an idea for a machine which cures cancer but until I build it and prove it's concept, and focus my patent on the specific parts of that machine which are my own, it's all pointless.

@@Jaypes1 Whether he was the first or not it is clear he developed the idea independently. Even if you dont accept that he developed the idea himself that clearly proves that the idea was not original when this patent was filed. All helicopters in use today use electric engines. All helicopters today use a rotary design as this does. If you can make some minor amendment and then patent it then how is any patent worth anything? If thats the case you can develop an idea and all I have to do is change one tiny element and file my own patent by your logic. If you develop your hypothetical idea for a cure for cancer and all I do is add a step and patent my own then its a useless system. If I cannot do that then how can something like this which is literally just a 500 year old idea be patented? They cannot both be true. The patent system is patently (lol) broken.

@@paulosullivan3472 You're missing the point. It's not about 'inventing' the helicopter. Not at all. It's about the specific rotor assembly which makes it move with propulsion in those four directions, up, down, left and right. That's it. Da Vinci did not invent that. Had he been able to design a working helicopter in the 1400's, he probably would have done. Also 'it is clear he developed the idea independently' is just your assumption. There are billions of ways in which Da Vinci may have come to do that sketch of a helicopter. Perhaps someone came to him and said 'I am an inventor but I cannot draw. I will explain this machine which I have dreamed of. Maybe you can draw it?' The possibilities are endless. Da Vinci's drawing of a helicopter does not show in any way, by any means, by any long shot in a billion years, that Da Vinci invented the steering system of a small electronic device which came centuries after his death. You're welcome.

@@paulosullivan3472 also, if I invented a cure for cancer and patented it, you wouldn't be able to copy my process and add a little extra on and apply for a patent. You would need to legally access my patent (which of course I would deny you, even if you were terminally ill). I think you're a bit confused about the process of patenting and why it takes so long to complete. There are all sorts of legal connundrums and rebuttals because it is not always objective which concept is susstantially different from another. That's why it's complex. You wouldn't reinvent the rotor assembly and paint it blue, or black, or spit on it, and claim to have invented anything.

@@Jaypes1 So to clarify are you of the opinion that helicopters prior to this toy were not capable of moving in all four directions? I can assure you they can. As for Da Vinci we have his drawings showing his steps developing the idea. The famous drawing is his last but he developed a large number of flying machines, he was obsessed with them. In any case my point is that the design of a helicopter is 500 years old. Da Vinci didnt have a way of producing enough power for his, it took the development of engines several hundred years later to provide that power. Whether he built a working version or not is irrelevant though, you can patent things without a working version. You can patent things which dont even work. You seem to be missing the point that this toy does nothing that already existing helicopters do. All he has done is taken existing technology and patented it as a toy as if making it a toy is "new". It isnt.

He deserves to do well, a talented young man with a creative mind.

Ha, I know youi must be joking but still .... He certainly believes that he is talented but although his self belief has allowed him to scam money from people interested in technology his several failures will eventually mean that the game is up and he will fade away into obscurity where he belongs.

Update on Vernon Kerswell's "business" Jan 2019- Drone is approved for production, delivery in June 2019. Nov 2019- Delivery in Jan 2020 Jan 2020- Delivery next month Dec 2020- Delivery in a few months Dec 2021- Delivery soon, close to completion May 2022- Delivery in 3 months September 2022- Going to China in December, everything is on track, doing more test runs. Vernon won't be producing a drone in 2022, August 2023 at earliest, if ever. Only 4 years AFTER he spent 3 years designing his drone. He still hasn't met his advertised characteristics. Still refuses refunds unless you take him to court.

He answered everything well I thought for sure he was gonna get investment

No he is not a troll, and we are not haters, we are backers that believed in Vernon’s project, we liked his idea so much that we gave him money make it happen, but then things changed when Vernon got the cash, the project got delayed months before Covid happened, then he used it as a bc excuse, the product was downgraded and now obsolete cause now there are better options on the market for less, and he has refused to refund anyone, he rather wait get sued and settle before facing a judge, the cherry on top is now him trying to blame the victims of his own failed project

I liked the lad, a good British entrepreneur. Hope he's doing well now considering it was over a decade ago!

Graham Sterling is telling nothing but the truth, I am also a backer from his latest campaign and its been a disaster, he made a good campaign offering a great product just to get funds, secured the cash stating he was on production when he is not even close to it, downgraded the product advertised, refuse to give refunds , his company website is non existent anymore, he has a bunch of lawsuits to respond

@@followthepolo2704 Many thanks for your kind validation. If I may, sadly, that campaign would have been the creation of others - rather like the drone footage featured in said campaign, right? Whatever other ‘skills’ may be in the mix, are those of others, squandered and incapable of meaningful integration and completed product by the Peter Pan “ceo”.

So this is the guy that started these toys? I bought the spider man flying toy for $5.00. Definitely worth the price. Very nifty little toy. Can charge it just as u charge your phone.

“It can only fly up and down.....” I’m out. Seriously, what’s the point of the thing? Also, all small RC helicopters I’ve ever tried have been pretty rubbish.

It’s crazy that that you have to pay for a patent to sell a toy product that can fly up down left right! That should not be allowed to be patent

A car that can only go back and forward and a helicopter that can only go up and down and the only one that can actually fly properly is not even his product! Well, he wasn't exactly going to revolutionise the toy market was he!
