I’ve been on a diet for awhile now, and I work at a place surrounded by unhealthy snacks, and I’m having a mental battle with myself, fighting myself from not eating unhealthy. This has legit been the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It’s anguish, it’s legit making me feel like I’m going insane, I fall asleep and dream of eating junk food and wake up craving it violently. But I’ve seen my health and confidence has improved significantly at the same time, more people talk to me now, I’m more patient, I’m less angry, my outlook at life is MUCH more positive than it was before I started the diet, it’s almost like I’m a different person now. But almost every moment when I’m not socializing, I’m violently fighting myself not to eat bad again.

I have all of the above symptoms. I am40. I just had a grandbaby. I’m afraid I will not live much longer. I’m so tired of losing at self discipline. 😢 Don’t have money to go to a doctor. All my joints hurts. I’ve been slowly hurting myself with food. It’s affecting my body, mind, and spirit. I feel powerless. Ever since I was a child, commercials have brain washed me and pushed to follow my nose (fruit loops), you’ll be lucky if you eat sugary goodness(lucky charms), they’re great!(frosted flakes), etc. and now I’m completely sick and diagnosed with cancer three months ago. I just wonder how many people have been mislead and lied to by these cereal companies. I took what they said to heart and it’s hurt me badly. 😢

Me too. I got rid of my addictions that I had in past (like smoking and drinking) and subconsciously replaced them with food addiction. I just ate a large meal which made me full, but nevertheless after just 10-15 minutes I started thinking about food again. Right now I don't care that I have this addiction because I am still a bit underweight - I have fast metabolism so I can hardly gain weight (im at 71kg at 181cm), but problem with this addiction is that I prefer unhealthy food. :(

I am completely out of control of my sugar cravings at night. I quit buying sweets and bought some vegetables and dip which I don't like. Then went straight back to eating sweets again. I also have Hashimoto thyroid disease which makes it hard to maintain a healthy weight. So that's strike two.

I've had a food addiction ever since I started my antidepressants (3 years ago), and only this year have I been gaining weight since my major inactivity. I realized that if I keep continuing I might end up dying to a heavy weight gain, so I stopped, and ever since 2 month's ago I've went down from 4,000 calories a day to 1,200 to 1,500 calories a day.

Addiction can't be applied to food because the way to overcome drug addiction is abstinence and you have to eat in order to survive. You may have an eating disorder which is why it may feel like you are addicted to food because you may have similar traits as a drug addict but there is no actual chemical dependency. If you think you may have an eating disorder there are many resources available to recover. It is so hard to recover but it is possible and worth it! Good luck!
