it is awful. I dunno how many sleep hours should a 15 year old normally get, but it probably shouldn 't go below 8. I normally get 7 and at the start of the week I had so many homework that I slept 4 hours til monday and 1 hour 25 minutes til wednesday. Then I had to take a whole afternoon of my free time and go to sleep super early yet the next day I was still tired, and these things cause so much stress that I'm losing and losing weight and now I look like a freaking skeleton. I also messed up at things at the end of the week cause I was tired, but because I messed up cause of tiredness I will have to do it on the weekend instead of resting. I wouldn't say School sucks because I get to learn what I want as a middleschooler, but there is a lot of pressure.

I've found that when I feel like I can't go out or do something because of obligations, I actually just need to go out or do the thing I want to do. The obligations can actually be postponed moreoften than you think and the stress of it is hurting you. Do the thing for you to help re-regulate. Make the art, go outside, sit in nature, call your friend, go out with your friend, make regular fun plans. You're still human! These are also part of your personal needs.

it’s stress. i’m an athlete and i’ve been beyond tired of waking up at 5am, and being in a pool from 6-8. the days i have rest, (like yesterday, i slept through my alarms and missed practice) i woke up and felt AMAZING. swim season ends in 2 weeks, then im done for life (unless i get a scholarship😭). but pretty much the day that i didn’t swim, my skin looked tan again, my hair had volume and texture, i smelt great, and i had 2 extra hours of sleep. small things in your life can cause stress. i’ve recently been told that i “take things for what they are and people for who they are” and i feel like that’s something that other people should think about. i feel great when i don’t set high expectations for myself or others, and when i take a “me day”, like yesterday, and get the treatment that i get on weekends, just with more time.🤷‍♂️ sorry for typing so much to those that read this.😭 but thanks for reading🫶🏼

I'm starting to think it's diet and mostly how we perceive our world (generally those with a smaller circle aren't as overwhelmed because they're not in touch with all of the news all the time)- it can either be with stress or with joy. Joy and gratitude are incredibly important and actually make me (I have disabilities and severe anxiety and depression) feel better with every passing day. I'd recommend it, no matter what situation you find yourself in. Bad things happen to good people. Good things happen to bad people. It's important to care, but we can only do so much to help. It's important to start with ourselves and the ones we love. Find a hobby and something you love to do. Find joy in your work, even if it's terrible. Until you can crawl out of "the life that's been set up for you", do so. Don't be afraid of failure, it's part of learning, part of life. All we can do is work with what we've got. All we can do is live this life we've been given. Asking for more only causes more pain, so it's necessary to just keep chugging along. We only have one chance to make the best of what we have, poor or rich, big or small. (And the negative side of me wants to say I'm really sick of this doom and gloom bs from everyone all the time. The economy is falling apart and people are suffering, but it's not like it hasn't happened before!!!)

Wow, that's a really powerful and insightful description of the struggles that so many people, especially those of the younger generations, are experiencing right now. It's amazing how you're able to capture the exhaustion, the stress, the anxiety, and the disconnection that people are feeling. You're absolutely right that this isn't just burnout. It's so much more. It's a collective trauma, a feeling of being adrift, and a sense of being forced to constantly adapt to a world that doesn't seem to be working in our favor. It's so important to recognize these feelings and to give yourself permission to be gentle with yourself. It's okay to feel lost, to need time to rest and recharge, and to seek out connection in whatever ways feel safe and sustainable for you. As overwhelming as this all may feel, know that you're not alone in these experiences and that there's a whole community of people out there who understand and relate to what you're going through. And remember, it's okay to take breaks, to focus on self-care, and to prioritize your own well-being.

One of my college physics professors posited that a lot (but not all) of the chronic problems people have today are due to all the microplastics and forever chemicals that corporations are using in all our food, water, and other products that break down, enter our bodies, but never leave. As he said, they all exist around us simultaneously, so it’s impossible to test the affects of these one by one on people because you can’t find a control sample population anymore, nor limit a test subject’s exposure to only one substance at a time anymore. His hypothesis hinges on the fact that many chronic ailments today started appearing on the scene or becoming more common on a similar timeline to humans inventing and mass producing certain industrial chemicals. And we have precedents in cases like the rise and fall of leaded gasoline causing a corresponding rise and fall in violence, crime, and developmental issues since it seriously harms human brain development. Basically, leaded gasoline mentally retarded large portions of a couple generations or so of people and society as a whole saw the effects of all these “chemically” deranged, violent people running around. And so, many of these forever and synthetic industrial chemicals _might_ be part of the problem, but we can’t _accurately_ run the experiments with them to be sure at any meaningful scale. We know many such plastics and forever chemicals are fine or totally safe at the levels of exposure we have, and we know some are actually dangerous, but most we just don’t really know for sure if they are safe or not. And therein lies the problem. I do believe it’s a contributing problem to the increase in many chronic physical and mental conditions, hormonal disorders, cancers, immune disorders, and so on. But other causes also exist. People live longer, and medicine is better, so chronic issues that would’ve killed people while young in the past become more apparent now. There are a lot of sociological factors and stresses that cause mental disorders on a society wide scale also. Social media, the news cycle, homelessness and drug problems, unstable geopolitics, constant economic crashes, dropping standards of living, and more add to these issues. It’s not just one problem. But there is a lot of forever shit floating around that we can no longer put the lid on, and that’s definitely contributing to the issue.
