For the love of Pete, why would anyone get upset over how Laura wears her hair or how she dresses to work outside? If it doesn't bother her, then no one else should be bothered by it. I watch GA videos to learn about how to plant different things at different times of the year, fertilizing the plants/trees, watching Laura get excited over how a plant /tree is growing in the gardens, seeing Benjamin and Samantha Grace playing in the dirt or helping plant a flower in the garden, picking strawberries and eating them right off the plant, seeing Aaron's beautiful grass, watching as you guys go to different places and plant up beds for your community, watching a video of Laura, her mom,and Monica going antique shopping, or just watching Laura arrange a bouquet of flowers. I start my day with a GA video and love it when I see a video on Instagram with music added to it.😊

@@rspruill1422 I’m 62 and have worked on our farm/ranch my entire life. I use to be the girl who wore tanks (never shorts ☺️) all the time until the last couple of years. Yes, sun block and covering up is essential! My mom has gardened all her life and all the generations before her, and they all cover up, head to toe. Amen! Women, oddly, get skin cancers on their legs often! I have had 2 cancer surgeries so far…another MOHS surgery scheduled for the tip of my nose soon. The sunshine is not a joke. Tank tops snd shorts are insanity. I live in an ag area and the workers are covered head to toe. Smart! You are very clever to keep covered….and be sure to get a yearly skin check! I have a huge scar on my calf from a nonsense light, tiny mole…don’t take chances. It’s definitely not worth it.

As always, starting my Sunday with your recap video. 😁 I’m a late comer to gardening. After our 17 yr old daughter was killed by a drugged driver, a friend gave me a plant and it awakened the gardener in me. It began with creating a jungle on our front porch, then I wanted to make a memorial garden. From there, I wanted to add raised beds. I have back issues so my raised beds are taller than most. I find great comfort in being in that garden. I have not been able to be in my garden in over two weeks due to a ruptured synovial cyst. I am having surgery to remove it this coming Thursday and pray that this relieves the pain and I can walk normally again. I look longingly out of the window at my garden that needs so much attention. Having this back issue has given me a greater empathy for those, like my Mom, who deal with chronic pain and no way to fix it. Those that are told it’s beyond repair and the only answer is pain management. Yet they push through and do what they can. I miss being like Laura and having energy, ambition, drive, and physical ability. Your videos inspire me. Well, let’s be honest, your videos are the catalyst for much of what I have done/plan to do. Sorry for my rambling, know that you both are an inspiration to this baby gardener in Tennessee. ❤️

Upon hearing of Benjamin’s toy soldiers, I flashed to a memory long ago, when my oldest son was Four. He loved playing with toy soldiers, cowboys, etc. we had just closed on a new house. There was a pull-down attic ladder, and our son begged to go up that ladder. Up he climbed, with his dad behind him, in “catch” mode. He reached the top, looked around, and excitedly yelled, “There’s a MAN up here!” Panic time! His dad quickly had him come down, then timidly climbed the ladder and carefully peeped over the edge. Vastly relieved, he came back down the ladder, clutching a little toy soldier.

It’s funny you say that because my husband is the same way. I’m totally the opposite. Since I work in a hospital and have to wear a uniform, I have all sorts of different clothes for when I go out our just hang around the house. The diversity of clothing makes me happy. It’s interesting how different we all are and the factors in our lives that makes us do the things we do. 🌸

Aaron’s suggestion to make your own bricks if you were to build a wall sent me on a journey. My Mom and Dad made their own cement blocks, all 1,800 of them, to build their first home. That was 80 years ago. They wanted that home that much to do the work to get it. You and Aaron remind me of my Mom and Dad, ever ready to consider the suggestion of any nature of project that might come your way. Thanks for taking me back all those years and bringing a smile to my face. ♥️

I am a 66-year-old gardener here in north-east Oregon, right near the Washington border. Even though I’ve gardened (at least a small area) for years. But I really don’t know what I’m doing. It’s all trial and error (mostly error). My hardest lesson learned is the location each different plant needs. I’ve wasted so much money over the years on perennials that I’ve put in wrong places. To the point that I’ve gotten very discouraged. For the first time ever, I did not plant a garden last year. Then I found your channel last winter (22-23). I want to thank you for all the inspiration. I couldn’t wait for Spring. I’ve got a nice, little garden this year, thanks to you. This past Spring, I was reunited with a couple of high school friends. One is a gardener so after catching up on the past forty plus years, I asked her if she had ever watched your channel. Her response was “I’ve been watching her channel since the beginning, before she even had any kids”. I feel sad that I missed out on over forty years of friendship with her and many years of watching your channel. But currently, I am so thankful for her friendship and you and Erin’s solid advice. My husband knows that every evening we have to look to see if you have a new video posted. He graciously watches each one with me. In our younger years, we had a booming, lawn care service. He had gone to Walla Walla Community College for their two-year, Turf Management Course then afterwards we started our business. So he is always interested in Erin’s input about your lawn and it’s care. My husband can be pretty critical about other people’s lawns. But he always praises Erin and all his explanations, saying “he sure knows what he is doing, doesn’t he”. I didn’t mean to write this much, I’ve considered commenting prior, but I don’t really have time for much social media so haven’t got in the habit of commenting on things I like. I’ve so enjoyed watching your family and enjoy seeing all the changes to your property, and the new property and your new, new property (lol). God bless your family. You are such an inspiration to so many people. God has used you and your family in such a big way. You are certainly an answer to my prayers. I hope your channel is still going years from now.

😅 Here in the Paris suburbs, we have a 400 square meter suburban lot. Don't know about how many acres... What with the House's ground floor, I garden on 3 sides in maybe 280 SQ. MT. I'm dealing with the Southwest side neighbor's huge tree planted right next to my garage, casting too much shade on my poor rose that I planted when their Maple tree was a twiggy 4 footer. So I understand the shade problem 😖. But as I get older, I'm glad I don't have an even larger garden to take care of.

If the woman with the flower/weed wants a new garden, do a raised bed. I have awful soil yet I wanted a Hydrangea garden I tried and amending my soil and it is certainly improved but even with a 60volt drill and auger set up it took an act of congress so I stopped fighting and really thought my problem through and decided to build a HUGE raised bed. I built it out of Split faced Cinder Blocks and rebar. It is 6 feet wide by 20 feet long by 24 inches deep. I am in zone 6. Central Ohio. and yes it has taken an some serious time to fill with top soil/compost mix that was delivered by my local nursery but yesterday I was able to fill one end of it enough that I was able to transplant 5 Hydrangeas out of their 3 gallon cans and into the fresh, rich soil. They went into a slight shock but once they realized they were actually free, They came back and are now happy. Now I still have the rest of the bed to fill with the garden mix but It will be easier now that I have seen the joy of my Hydrangeas, I planted several Hydrangeas from the "Let's Dance" series as well as several Endless Summer series as well. Thank you for being the inspiration that I discovered during Covid when my place of employment was shut down for months. THANK YOU and GOD BLESS!

@@kathrynriggs2489 my Sister in GA has a small pond right off the deck and I think they have Tree frogs. Some years they got pretty noisy! Almost like someone screaming. I'm installing a small Pondless Waterfall feature, hoping it won't be much work. Except for Winter prep ...

@alcg3981 I hope it goes well for you and that you enjoy it. We live in a rural area, so the noises don't bother us. Even the crickets get loud, and we still have a ton of tree frogs.

Benjamin might love an outdoor surface where he can play with his soldiers. Some little hills, dig tunnels, a guard for a flat surface, maybe some water. Oh, and some shade available. You won’t be able to get him in the house. ❤

Not that my opinion matters, and although you have created a life that some people only dream of regarding your house, land, gardens and the Hartley. Your family life and your relationship with each other is truly what makes you rich. That’s the type of success to cherish. You set a wonderful example.

I had a good laugh when you commented on those enthusiastic gardeners in the Spring, but once the heat hits, practically everything stops; that's me! Thank you both for your videos and the kindness you show towards others- sharing your produce and cut flowers, planting flowers at your church and just inspiring us to try.

My absolute favorite gardening video's. I watch them everyday. Laura's little voice is so sweet and always so nice and gives us so much information. Aaron is like a big teddybear. Such a wonderful, sweet little couple. Benjamin and Samantha Grace are so happy and cute. Beautiful little gardening family.

I can't believe anyone would post negative or hateful comments on your page! You are positive, joyful, happy, and you have no political affiliations etc. I wake up and can't wait to see what's happening in your garden! I'm glad you let it roll off your back. Please know that literally THOUSANDS of people find inspiration and joy in your videos. My day is not complete without Garden Answer!! Funny story - I work in a dollhouse shop, and a lady came in and saw a miniature greenhouse. She said to her husband "this looks like a Hartley". She then looked at me and said "Sorry - I just follow this one youtube video.." I said emphatically "GARDEN ANSWER???!!!!" She said YES!! and we high fived in the shop. It was a wonderful and unexpected connection! Thank you for all that you do to educate and inspire us :) xoxoxoxoxo

I LOVE how original you are Laura!!! I admire it!! There's a girl who started out COMPLETELY copying everything you did, including the way you talked and explained plants and things. It drove me crazy!! I HAD to say something!! I don't know why, I just did. I was jumped by her followers, but she is so UNoriginal!!

I moved to a small apartment and I have been watching you and I have up over 20 flower pots this year Packed Full Laura!!! and I'm loving having flower pots instead of trying to get down to manage in the ground flower beds...I have also tried all kinds of flower combinations in my flower pots....You inspire me Laura to try something new!!! Loving having your video's to watch every morning....Please keep inspiring us !!! You Guys are Great!!!

Laura, I totally get the mental energy about clothes!!!!!! Once I started having surgeries, my energy level left. I went from being vain about what my clothes look like and went to white t-shirts and whatever jeans or shorts and 1 pair each of tennis shoes, flip flops, and work boots. 😂. Keep protecting your skin. Good job!!P.S. I've never felt more secure about who I am without the norm of vanity!!! ❤️

Regarding Compast, growing up on a farm we had 3 year piles, my Dad didn't believe in boxing of any kind, he always said Air Flow, and Sun is important... we used tractors forks on Mondays, bucks on Thursdays, movement's and sit and cook... I don't remember ever putting hose on compost piles... Turning and full Sun, well nature rain, our farm was middle state Minnesota. Piles got huge, taller then tractors all leftovets, weeds from our family garden, cows, pigs, horses chickens clening from barn, coop, we didn't hv a grass Catching bagger, only barn garden, coop, wheel barrel at a time into piles, honesty we had the best veggies gardens every year!! Spring sprinkle over ground before tilling into ground, hope this helps, My Folks were minimalist before there was terms 😊 Doing what one Enjoying, there's no job, no force, just great Beauty!! I lov saying life's gives lemons make, create lemonade 😊Remembering to Keep Rocking Life Beautifully 😊 Enjoying and Growing as we refreshing our minds from Ur Great Works, Beauties 😊

Morning all👵🏼Laura someone asked about the HoseLink if you ever had a problem with it retracting, I’ve noticed with mine if I don’t keep the hose clean before it retracts after several uses it has a problem retracting. Now I keep an old towel close by and I’ll wet it and hold it around the hose lightly as it’s retracting then the towel cleans the hose as it’s retracting. It’s extra work but at the cost of having to replace it it’s worth it to me. Just a thought. Love your videos and it’s true Garden Answer community is a very kind and thoughtful community.❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🐝💐🍸🍸🍸
