Unfortunately he was not asked the followup question about Legal Citizens being the only ones allowed to vote. He should have been asked about the "LIVING Citizens" being the only ones allowed to vote. 3 times just prior to my brother's death, he went to his polling place in N. Carolina only to find he had already voted. Wonder if he is still voting today.

Because not every question can simply be answered with a yes or no. Both sides do this an it's stupid. Sometimes questions have premises embedded that one side may not fully agree with and so a simple yes or no is not enough to unpack. For example if I ask you "Do you support allowing anyone to buy a gun?" You may not want to simply say "Yes" even if you support the 2nd amendment because the question assumes a very reductionist way of thinking that you feel does not necessarily represent how you feel on the matter. Again, both sides do this and it's stupid and dumb, and hearings like these accomplish nothing for the country. it's why this country will not get past the 2 party system that most people disagree with and want to see an end to. The fact is that different sides to a given topic have valid points and asking questions like these to simply get soundbites is why our politics has devolved into the mess it is today. Yes or no questions are not all unfair, they should only be asked when dealing with questions on verifiable factual matters. For example an ok yes or no question would be "Is it true that the national debt is ....." This can be verified, and is either true or false. Most yes or no questions that are asked in these hearings are totally unproductive and don't move the dialog forward.

They know me by appearance, by name; and frequently say, "Hello Mr. Sheridan, good to see you again." REGARDLESS OF THAT INTERACTIVE STATURE, AT NO TIME HAVE THEY NOT REQUESTED MY GOVERNMENT-ISSUED IDENTIFICATION. AT NO TIME WOULD THEY HAVE ALLOWED ME TO VOTE HAD I NOT PROVIDED THAT ID. It does not "obstruct" anyone to require identification or proof of citizenship to vote. I showed my ID when I first voted at 18 and into my 40s before California decided that proof of citizenship to vote in an election was "burdensome" for people in "low income" areas. Again, the first time at 21, I voted absentee. I was in the Air Force at MInot AFB, ND. I continued to vote absentee for my 20-year career. When I retired and returned home to Indiana. Every time I voted in person, I was required to show my drivers license to verify my address on the voter roll.

In 1970, I arrived in this country as a Cuban political refugee, fueled by a fervent desire to combat communism. At just 17, I enlisted in the Marine Corps, driven by a singular purpose: to confront the specter of communism wherever it reared its head. My hope was that by contributing to the fight against communist expansion, my homeland would one day taste freedom. Citizenship eluded me then, and as I stood on the brink of deployment to Vietnam, I knew it would take over a year of dedicated service in the Corps before I could earn that privilege, the right to vote. Fast forward to today, and I find myself disheartened by what I perceive as a betrayal of the values I fought for. The ease with which anyone can now cast a vote, without even the requirement of an ID in many states, leaves me questioning the direction of my beloved United States. To me, it feels like the insidious creep of communism, not socialism, as some might argue. I fear for the future of our nation, lest it succumb to the fate of countries like Cuba or Venezuela. The machinations of individuals like George Soros only serve to deepen my apprehensions. The erosion of objective journalism and the increasing sway of leftist ideologies in our educational institutions paint a grim picture. America, it's time to wake up before it's too late.
