Hillsdale College is an independent institution of higher learning founded in 1844 by men and women “grateful to God for the inestimable blessings” resulting from civil and religious liberty and “believing that the diffusion of learning is essential to the perpetuity of these blessings.” It pursues the stated object of the founders: “to furnish all persons who wish, irrespective of nation, color, or sex, a literary, scientific, [and] theological education” outstanding among American colleges “and to combine with this such moral and social instruction as will best develop the minds and improve the hearts of its pupils.” As a nonsectarian Christian institution, Hillsdale College maintains “by precept and example” the immemorial teachings and practices of the Christian faith.
The College also considers itself a trustee of our Western philosophical and theological inheritance tracing to Athens and Jerusalem, a heritage finding its clearest expression in the American experiment of self-government under law.
By training the young in the liberal arts, Hillsdale College prepares students to become leaders worthy of that legacy. By encouraging the scholarship of its faculty, it contributes to the preservation of that legacy for future generations. By publicly defending that legacy, it enlists the aid of other friends of free civilization and thus secures the conditions of its own survival and independence.

    This is exactly true. People have allowed big government to get away with too much, and now they threaten the Constitution every day, trying to convince people that it is out of date, or not worth knowing. We have to enforce our Constitution in order to keep it.

    If our legal system refuses to comply with Constitutional principles and respect peoples’ Rights, that means they have violated their oath to uphold the Constitution, I assume that makes them liable for removal at least it would have been considered treason, that is why we have people who uphold and defend the Constitution from adversaries both Foreign and Domestic; I personally believe those that fail to uphold their Oath and disregard the Constitution should be liable for removal to keep a fair and just system so anarchy never occurs as a result of bad policy.

    Actually that is a loose thought. The only way you can lose what your inheritance is, is by selling it. Entering into contracts must be done with the utmost care. You lose your standing when you sign against your liberties. Study the founding documents to retrain your thinking. You are in a battle for your liberty.

    @@sing2me "You lose your standing when you sign against your liberties" What's funny about that sentiment is that the US Supreme Court originally ruled that the states gave up their sovereignty when their representatives ratified the US Constitution to form the federal government. But after the state of Georgia lost a lawsuit against someone from South Carolina, Congress quickly got the 11th amendment passed and SCOTUS has, ever since, adopted this strange "read between the lines" interpretation that the US states still retain their sovereignty and can get a lawsuit dismissed by saying that they "don't consent" to be sued, even though this privilege doesn't exist anywhere in the constitution and SCOTUS had already ruled that this state privilege didn't exist. SCOTUS has since continued to rule that a US state can, in both federal and state courts, merely say "I don't consent to be sued" in order to swat away lawsuits from practically anyone despite the language of the constitution saying otherwise under Article III, so it looks like you can freely enter into any contract you want without worry when you're a US state because there's no power that can compel them to be in compliance with the stipulations of the contract they signed and agreed to.

    They have it by design now that there is no real consequences for their illegal behavior. Until we start making representatives pay for their abhorrent behavior there will be no change. Unfortunately the only way I see that happening is for citizens to rise up and make it a reality. Voting now seems to be helpless in fixing this situation at this time.

    It was the 80s where we lost the country. And Clinton was the last straw! My first vote was against Clinton, as was my second vote. After that, I said 'screw it' and I refused to vote again. Until Trump came down that escalator. That is when I decided to vote, one more time! I voted for Trump twice, and I will proudly vote for him one more time!

    Right now, it's not the people in government who are ruling, but this party, who for a very long time, have been the ones who don't believe it enough, they think it is a living thing that needs to be changed, ignored and just do not abide to their oath.     You folks should see how the lapd handles officers who expose supervision or command staff misconduct. They do the same to those officers as they have done to the Orange Man. I find myself no longer in any shape form or fashion, a republican. Never again will I go by that misnomer. I look forward to the day when a new party will arise to take the republican parties place.     We need a movement and leadership working to bring all law enforcement and military on board with the aim of their oaths, the ultimate purpose of their roles. To the degree that they function primarily as agents of "continuity of gov't" (following bureaucrats' fiats, administrators' whims, arresting and restricting Constitutionalists, as we see too frequently today) instead of defenders of the Constitution and the rights of the People, we have a problem making a restorative change. I'd rather have the official support of people who took such oaths than to have to confront them as part of seeking the Constitutional best for the US. Can there be such a movement of leadership, or will such recourse fall to the People?

    Yes I would go further. Eliminate 70% of the government workers, ending CIA, FBI, DNI, CDC, EPA... We need political parties out of the picture. My answer is to have a survey, 30 days before primary where folks make suggestions of whom should run, the top 10 candidates would debate for 6 weeks before 1st election. If there is no clear majority, then there would be a second election for run off. We need another branch of government which would separate Attorney General into it's own branch. More checks and balances are needed. I would have a 5th branch, similar to what PhD Larry Sabado had suggested. I would call this the Public's Ombudsman. Only the House of Representatives would be political. Like we are thinking, the Senate is to preserve the various State interests. I would have another constitutional convention asap...before country dissolves...

    Former Sec of Agriculture under Pres. Eisenhower, Ezra Taft Benson explained it perfectly in 1965 in the Utube talk "America On Path To Destruction". The reason how it will happen and the solutions to it.

    The constitution exists as a guideline for the people to limit government, the government does not limit itself. If the people think that electing others is all they have to do, to keep government in check, they are why this is happening.

    Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. The Constitution is just a piece of paper and means nothing unless we the people stand by it and make sure our "leaders" do the same. WE the PEOPLE are the part of the Constitution that is not working as it should. It is why we're affirmed in the Bill of Rights in the rights within. In a sense, we are the fourth branch of government.

    We STILL have the US Constitution! It structure and authorizes the entirety of the Federal government. It is a CONTRACT, between the People (a proper noun) and the government structured by it. (What is ALLOWED and what is NOT ALLOWED)

    We need a remedy for when a judge or an elected official, or a bureaucrat infringes on our rights. There needs to be consequences. Doing it and then saying oh I’m sorry after the damage is done and it doesn’t go to appeals for years is not proper. This is not going to work any longer.

    I think one of the biggest tragedies in the death throes of the constitution is the peoples inability, or unwillingness, to enforce article 6. In all facets of government, politicians, judges, police military, etc., all taken oath to support and defend the constitution. Violating this oath is a violation of federal law as well as a violation of the constitution itself. Federal law mandates the penalties for violating the oath of office. Yet it is NEVER enforced. In all of these facets of government you have officials, elected or appointed that routinely take the oath and then immediately and relentlessly go about shamelessly violating it. They do everything they can to dismantle, undermine, or circumvent the constitution in every possible way. Article 6 specifically states That laws that do not comport with the constitution are invalid on their face. They should not need to be challenged in court, they should be unenforceable upon their inception. Yet, our penal code is teaming with laws that do not comport with the constitution, which have been so routinely enforced, that the people don't even realize anymore how invalid the laws are. To make matters worse, our Supreme Court routinely fails to take up cases where the people challenge the constitutionality of laws that very clearly violate the constitution. All facets of government the limitations placed on them by the constitution, and the routinely become comfortable with this state of being. The willingness of the people to blindly comply with "the authorities" should frighten us all, as the "authorities" are, in fact, our employees and representatives, not our rulers. WE THE PEOPLE - are the Authorities. But unfortunately the vast majority of society has lost side of that fact, and resigned to serfdom.

    @@Roylamx of course not, because article 6 specifically mentions judges. And if they are also corrupt, who is to hold them to account? They are the ones that are supposed to hold up everyone else to account. Article 6 is supposed to hold them to account, but there is no enforcement mechanism.

    Number one, get involved at your local level that is how it was supposed to be. Your local community county a s state. We have grown and forgotten that the federal government r was never meant to be the voice of the nation...send roe v wade back to the stars was a huge step in that direction ..tell every e you know to pay more attention To state electionsmore ; that's where the laws that affect our daily lives happen.     The people stopped paying attention and only passively watched as constitutional encroachments happened over and over. It became commonplace and “normalized”, where if these things were suggested in a 1790’s America, it would have created an upheaval of violent rebellion. Now, we are seeing the result of overstepping of even the accepted levels constitutional trampling, and the immune response of a bodily rejection. That body being the people. Our republic. Let us all hope this trend continues so that we may peacefully regain the full and true extent of our most cherished document.

    @@thanoswasright999 Sure if you’re speaking in the sense that their views on governance were considered radical. But we’re not talking about modern “wokeness” in terms of less rules. Less laws. More liberty. The discussion now regarding “woke” ideology has turned into “we want to FORCE you to have to do THIS in the name of favoring a specific class.” And “we should be able to trample right over everyone else to the front because I’m part of the protected class.” That’s certainly not what was intended when this country was founded. It’s quite literally the opposite. So were the founding fathers the same kind of moronic woke we are seeing today? Not by a LONG shot. They actually thought out their ideas among each other based on the objective reality around them. They were made to defend their claims against their peers and had to put aside their own personal proclivities and opinions about subsets and subcultures in order to outline the basic fundamentals of being a human being and make sure those fundamentals were a protected law of the land for EVERYONE. Even Mormons. Lol
