I usually use line weight for lighting. When light hits something greatly I use thinner lines. When it’s darker I use heavier lines.

That's also one of the ways to benefit line weight most! Same could be said for shadows. Applying more weight to places like the underside of belts helps a lot.

an artist friend of mine once gave me a tip he called the "T-rule." anywhere where lines connect in the (approximate) shape of a T, you'll in most cases want to stress the area where they meet with the thickest line weight and fade it to a thinner line weight towards the 3 ends. you can see an example of this in this video, in the spider gwen drawing where her torso connects to her outstretched left arm!

It's also much lighter overall, making it ideal for shading. This is normally something you learn naturally with a pencil then have to re-learn when you start inking on paper. Same for digital art, except you can make a pen act like a pencil :o

Everything you said is accurate, except the fact that the straight line stroke does have line weight to it. All that line weight describes is the thickness of a line. Not if a line has thin or thick parts. Some drawings have uniform line weight which can contribute to a specific style. If unintentional then sure it’s going to look sloppy. And your tutorial is great because yes, you can use different line weights to describe depth and emphasize details. It’s a good thing to understand and apply to your drawings, but I think it’s incorrect to say that something with uniform lineweight is wrong or has no weight to it at all.
