Here's a long shot: My neighbor works at a lumber mill. They use thick strong fabric belts to move material. When the belts wear out, they toss them in the dumpster where anyone can take it home from free. These belts are huge, like 10' x 60' or bigger. He laid this belt material under his gravel and he has no weeds for 20 years. Our weeds are on full assault in the garden, so our neighbor brought home big rolls of this belt material. So you might try to get peachy with sommeone who works at a lumber mill.

Sun shirts and sun hats make a world of difference. You can also wet them which feels sooo good. Cooling towels are also great. They actually make vests and hoods out of it, too. Wrists, neck, and core are very cooling.

Counterintuitive but cover your skin! (To help with the heat) You know after a sunburn when you're just radiating heat? Keeping your skin covered with long sleeves & a hat helps so much to keep your body cooler

Really curious to see how your lentil experiment goes - I've never seen anyone plant it.

Tack strips of lattice or rabbit wire to bottom board perhaps, ventilation won't be disrupted. Time to boss the vegetation..😅

@thecottagepeach I have screened porch with the dark screen, very easy an inexpensive, looks nice keeps bugs out. They will cut you small piece if you go that route.

A puzzling thing. People worry about squash, cucumber, corn, etc. crossing thinking they'll get "poison fruit" yet they insist fruit trees must be cross pollinated!

I tried growing cauliflower last year, and goodness, did the Cabbage moth love them to the point of decimation. I really enjoy broccoli, so I'm considering giving it another try. Fantastic news about the parasitic wasps, though. Nature really is cool. I'm curious to see how lentils turn out!

Have you ever used BioChar? I bought a bag as an experiment and wow does this work in potted plants. I asked A.I. if I could grow plants from my dead Tabasco plant. It responded with, not possible. I took some gallon water jugs and made a small greenhouse out of them and they grew like grass. Now the only thing is to keep moving them into bigger pots.

I have not tried it myself. AI can’t be trusted with garden info imo - lots of false results when I tested

Your garden is blooming 💥 Do not panic about the cabbage moths. They only eat the leaves on broccoli, they never touch the flower head itself. Even cabbage seems to be ok. I will not show you my Eggplant, they are monsters. My cucumbers were so bad this year. Our summer is dec,jan,feb….. 35 dec C and 70% humidity. Not a fan of that. Twilight gardening if possible.
