What an interesting mystery “illness” of your plum tree. It was very impressive that you figured out the cause and the deep root treatment makes perfect sense. As a physician scientist, I particularly liked this video! Please don’t take this as criticism, because it is not intended to be. I merely want to pass along the pronunciation of the word “chelated” is actually “KEE-lated” rather than “tchee- lated.” It might help someone ask for or find the correct type of iron to ask for.

Appears I may have a similar plum problem. Our lot was filled with cement rubble before our home was built. I never would have known to check for this lime/ph/iron issue or how to remedy it if it weren't for your video, Migardener to the rescue again👍!

Here, I'll help you. Next time you make a comment, go to ChatGPT and type something like this. "I just watched a video on fixing sick plants. I really liked the video but I want to make a suggestion. You need to come in closer and hold longer when showing leaves. rewrite this, but make it nicer sounding.". This is what it gave back to me. " I really enjoyed your video on fixing sick plants! I have a small suggestion that might make it even better: could you come in closer and hold the camera a bit longer when showing the leaves? It would really help to see the details more clearly. Thanks for the great content!" Then copy and paste this into the comment section instead. Hope that helps. :)

Great information!!! I've noticed that one of my new Golden Currants has a knob at the top of the young plant where the leaves are all growing in a cluster. I don't know if this is normal, but it looks odd to me and now I'm going to check to see if the edges of the leaves are yellow. The good news is that they're still in their nursery pots, so if this is an iron and/or a pH issue, hopefully it will be improved when I plant them.

Good info. Are apples and red pears the same as plums? I have a MacIntosh, Granny Smith and Red pear in a corner of my property that is relatively free from concrete rebar. This property was once a storage area for the county road department. One corner has buried scrap metal. There's one corner with alot of concrete rebar parking lot bumpers. Half the yard has road gravel buried under soil. I have raised beds some places. The MacIntosh is 26 years old. The other 15. The pear 15. The pear does have smaller leaves like your plum. Produces smaller fruit than it did at first. I will try this.

My Butterfly Bush, which I never grew before, is putting out small buds. The leaves near the base is yellowing...not sure if there was any spotting. I see no insects, caterpillars, etc. It's grown quite a bit. We're having high 90's here (near Chicago, zone 5). I just put out sun shade over the tomatoes. Could this be heat related or something else? Thanks

Instead of adding more heavy metals just use sulfur period. Not iron sulfate not aluminum sulfate. Just sulfur. You already have the iron in the soil now your over doing it just to get some sulfur to change the ph.

Be more specific about the water you add. You don't add city water or well water you want to add either RO WATER OR DISTILLED water. That way you know the starting ph of the water is 7. And not changed with chemicals from the city or ground Reservoir

  • @soulseeker42388

@dash-4150 sand will do nothing to make the ground more acidic. Better drainage maybe but will do nothing for the ph. And watering will do nothing for the ph. Actually water will not raise the ph either unless you are using city water with a bunch of chlorine/chloramides. The soil will actually buffer out alot of this in the first 2 to 6 inches of top soil. The only way to lower or raise ph (truly) is to use a sulfate/sulfur or use dolomite lime or crushed lime stone. Calcium sulfate (gypsm) will also help raise soil ph to be more alkaline. If you want to use something that breaks down over time and acidifys soil use pine needles.

  • @soulseeker42388

@dash-4150 also most well water unless in a limestone Reservoir. Is going to be mostly slightly acidic. So your well water will actually lower ph and help brak down Calcium additives like oyster shell or egg shells

@@soulseeker42388 cool, I'm in a big lime stone area, Chicago land, that must be why my water isn't acidic. Thank the heavens above I'm not on city water, and well is deep enough not to have sulfur water.
