A thousand uploads all offering to fix our swing….much appreciated but nothing is constant. Best I got was a routine to loosen my shoulders and “soft hands”.

Wow! I've never heard the tip about the head tilts before, and I watch a ton of instructional vids. I just tried it out on my hitting net, and this tip may be a game changer for me. Everything I hit was so solid. Gonna take it on the course and see how it goes! Thanks for the awesome content!

Really like the water from the ear tip ... a good golfer I used to play with many years ago used to tell me to feel the right thigh muscle loading as I took the club back. This creates the torque to start the downswing, but also and crucially, stops you from actually swaying backwards and shifting your weight. It's a really simple thing and is a physical reminder and every time I think of loading my right thigh, I have a better swing and strike. It also gives me that one swing thought as I start the swing and gets rid of all the other nonsense that cocks it up

Lovely video my fellow teacher. Today I have a lesson with a determined and disciplined student. I want the best for this lad. However I couldn’t figure out his situation. I knew it was his tilt back- the water in ear analogy will definitely help! Life saver - playing the game at a high level is easy. Teaching it to others is harder than I thought.

That water / ears tip is where I am going wrong and I think it's going to help me immensely - I can't wait to try it. I guess, as you say, it is a proxy for shoulder angle and spine angle, but something that's easy to take to the course and implement. Thank you! 👍

Hi Chris, can I ask you a question? If so, I’m a 65 year young woman, with a swing speed with a 7 iron of around 65mph. Should I avoid forward shaft lean with that speed? I’m thinking it’s not fast enough to lower the loft, therefore reducing ball apex height.

  • @LLWarmJaY

I could be wrong but I’d say the key to this lesson is focusing on water falling out your left ear for as long as possible on the downswing. I don’t think a slower swing speed means you should avoid shaft lean / ball first contact / compressing the ball. 1:00 look at the height Chris gets with half a swing…. Very slow swing speed…

I just watched your video "How to Hit Down on the Ball" and I'm very confused as that video appears to conflict with this video in the downswing movement (ie) in that video on the downswing at 9am the body weight is +/- evenly distributed and the position of the arms, shoulders and club are lower than in the backswing. In this video, however, the is no reference to this movement - in fact it appears that this downswing follows a perfect pendulum and shoulders, arms and club are not dropping. Can you please explain Chris. I love your videos but this has confused me.

I see the greenkeeper was pretty kind with that pin. We must have caught him in a bad mood when we played. If he could tuck the pins in the worst part of the green, he did. 14 was right in the back left corner, the one you're on was right on the slope at the front 🤣

Something I have come across to help avoiding hitting fat is choking up on the club grip, and instead of focusing on the back of the ball when you swing, try focusing your swing target in FRONT of the golf ball. This will help you make your strike point more in front and not behind the ball which results in a chunk or fat shot

I have found hovering the club above the grass behind the ball at address works wonders for me not hitting fat. Just make sure you have good arm structure and you aren’t bending your arms at address. Extended but comfortable, not hyperextended.

No you're doing this all wrong. Since I started playing golf 2 years ago what you need to do is focus on hitting down on the ball as hard as possible. Don't dilly dally about and keep things simple. I don't dilly dally and I'm already down to a 20 handicap. Follow my advice and you can't go wrong Best wishes, Johnny Muscles
