    I played in my club senior championship this weekend. On Saturday I hit several fat shots that caused me to be 6 strokes behind the leader. After the round , I reviewed this video and hit the range working on weight forward and wrist angles. Sunday I shot a net 69 and won my flight. Plus I aced a par 3. Thanks for all the help.

    Ok this is the 2nd day in a row of Eric putting out a video describing my issue. The tips on moving forward causing shanks was spot on. I eliminated shanks completely but was smashing the ground about an inch or two behind the ball quite often. Tomorrow I can use these tips and see how well I swing. I also had lost the mindset of keeping my wrist flat the first 20 minutes at the range today....so I ordered the Hanger and we'll see how that goes. First time I've ordered a training aid, but all on Eric recommendation.

    Guys, this works. Omg. Although, a disclaimer, for right handers, get to the far right side of the driving range or one of the 3 balls might hit some one like I did. Lol. No worries, once u hit them balls once, your mind and body will try better to not hit them. I measured a wall of tees after hitting the guy and keep with the drill. Then boom, my divots moved passed the ball. It really showed me that my main issue weight transfer. I am going to work at this for the next 3 days. Thanks Eric.

    Amazing coincidence- I have been working on this the last day and this morning and here is everything I have been thinking about. Eric, is it fair to say- you have to delay the hit. To delay means holding the clubhead off the ground which means holding onto the L (right wrist and shaft) which means the only way to get the clubhead on the ground is to drop the right shoulder- through rotation on the spine angle- as the club shaft is "shorter". If you don't move forward and drop the shoulder you have to release the L to get the club head on the ground. Dropping the shoulder means you can delay the hit.

    Eric, I'm working with Denis Sales to get my weight forward (among other things) to fix my chunking. The one thing that seems to help is to focus on creating shaft lean at impact. Is that basically what you are saying in this video when you talk about the wrist angles?

  • @CogornoGolf

    @CogornoGolf

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes! The weight forward will help move low point forward regardless of wrist angles BUT when you combine it with wrist angles thats even better. Really we want to add as many ingredients as we can to move low point forward to increase our odds of success.. That "wall" behind the ball would be a good one for you!

    I shot 73 and found I’m too steep on downswing causing fat shots. I think I have to place ball back slightly toward back foot. Your video has too steep of approach to ball for me.

    Hey Jack! No worries----this isn't for everyone...would be easy to see what you need to do to correct if we could see your swing on video!

    Haha I hear ya....wont be too easy. Will have some good and bad like anything else. If you struggle with fat shots I would plan to work on this for a full 12 months

    4:39: "If I go way to the right, I'm ok with that . . . ." You shouldn't be. Anyone swaying that much in the backswing is not rotating around his/her waist as he/she should be doing. Such person is moving laterally and inevitably bleeding tons of power.

    My first reaction watching that slow-mo ball strike makes me believe that nothing you do after Impact matters.. Only your approach to the ball matters. That ball was a good 6 inches in front of the clubface before the club even started taking a divot. Why don't more teaching Pro's focus 90% on club path and approach to the ball!

    Hey Chris! Yeah I hear ya.....sometimes by focusing on the follow through you CAN change pieces that happen earlier on as well. Goes both ways

    Looking forward to using these tips. My #1 issue is chunky/fat shots. They come off the club nice and straight but die out 20-25 yards short..hopefully I’ll be able to use my 9 iron on 130+ yards and not my 7; it’s quite demeaning sometimes.
