There are a lot of space marine chapters listed in the official list of space marines over at Lexicanum, they exist in name only so that's a good place to go to get ideas for a new chapter, sometimes there is one photo of what they look like which helps. Good luck!

The chapter I created years ago was called the Tempest Marines. I love the spit color paint schemes so I did left half white, right side teal. I had a devistator squad called Heavy rain that was all missle launchers. Might be time to start them again now that there are cool rules for successor chapters.

Been working on my own chapter as my first army. The “Salvators” are a listed officially as an “unknown founding” chapter, their true lineage known only to the inner circle of captains and the chapter master. (Spoilers, they’re Lunar Wolves) They are an incredibly adaptable chapter, able to tackle most situations they have to, but come with a penchant for holding ground and working with heavy machinery. They are excellent craftsmen, their home world both being incredibly rich in minerals and orbiting a forge world, granting them lots of relics, ancient patterns of armour they stole when they split from Horus, and a rather potent fleet complement. Their main concern is the preservation of human life, seeing that as the only path to redemption for the sins of their gene-father. Their cry exemplifies this: “The sins of the father, on the blood of his sons!” As for colour scheme, they are coloured teal with a gold trim, and both left arm and leg are gold as well. The top of their power pack, the plat on the back, the midsection plate and the bottom of Primaris helmets are also gold. Some come with an iron coloured Aquila as well as Indomitus symbols. They appear very knightly, as I try to replace the helmets with old Horus heresy heads and give them as much robes and scriptures as I can. The robes are typically a bright red or a tan colour. Overall, pretty happy with them so far. Working on a consistent colour scheme for the sergeants, so any help with that would be greatly appreciated. Loving what you’re doing here mate, keep it up!

I like the idea of traitor stock but I would be wary of lunar wolves as the character traits make them look like hours.....

I made a chapter called "Dark Phoenix." Most of the legonaries are psykers and primarily use power swords, axes, and bolter pistols and use a phalinx formation to get up close to unleash superhuman psyker wraith upon their enemies. They can trace their liniage back to the dark angels however they are more interested in protecting civilians as they believe honor is found in protecting those who cannot protect themselves. Their mortal enemies are tyranids, all eldar, and the Tau

Used this to create My "The Drakes Ascendant" salamander successor chapter, I gave them a mix of vulkan and dorn gemeseed, mainly sticking with black templars but with more yellow for higher ranks as an omage to imperial fist heratige, they defend with walls of fire ahead of built defenses, pushing enemies back away from the immoble defenses, using heavy weaponry, armour and fire. They usually stand fast sending out distress signals so other chapters can arrive to help attack while they defend.

My chapter is the 'Brothers of Mars' I started with adeptus mechanicus but I wanted to beef up my army with space marines so I made a chapter of primaris marines that were the test subjects of Belisaurius Cawl and his elite task force.

The chizzle wizzlers- they try to ally themselves with anything that can communicate with their charismatic demeanor

I’m new to 40k. Known about it for years and thought now was the time to delve in. Watching this gave me an idea of making a splinter chapter of the Space Wolves using Klingon Star Trek Micromachine ships as parts for the Marines. I have a tone of ships from when I was a kid so this video sparked my imagination. We shall see.

Love this, very simple way to introduce people to homebrewing chapters! Definitely used a variety of these same steps to come up with mine; decided on The Exculpators, a Dark Angels successor chapter. Got the name from the verb Exculpate, or to "declare someone not guilty of wrongdoing". Felt it was perfect, considering their connection to the Fallen, and of their mission is to 'exculpate' their progenitors of their blemished history.

I had some fun making my custom chapter, the Heralds of Judgement, mostly because they are a loyalist successor chapter to a traitor legion. Specifically, their first chapter master was a Night Lord who basically had a mid-battle shock of realization that while Konrad supposedly stood for justice and punishing the guilty, they now *were* the guilty and had fallen completely into little better than criminals. So he gathered a group that felt similarly to him, slaughtered a squadron of Night Lords and faked their own deaths, before throwing themselves on the mercy of the Raven Guard, asking for the chance to redeem themselves. They are officially listed as a Raven Guard successor to hide their true origins, though a lot of suspicion falls on them due to no one actually being able to find where they came from, and they seeming to be a fixation of the Inquisition, with an extremely high number of them being used under Inquisitorial and Deathwatch service. So they have spent the following 10 thousand years doing nothing except training to fight Chaos Marines while hunting and killing them anywhere they can, even splitting into 9 distinct brotherhoods that each focus specifically on one of the traitor legions in their training and methods.

@WePaintMinis Thematically, Night Blue for the armor as a sort of "reclamation" of the original ideals of their primarch, with black trim acting as a symbol of their darkened souls for what they have done, and red shoulders and accents as they carry the blood of their sins with them in every moment. Some of the black is changed to silver once they reach the status of a veteran, as well as one of their arms, which only happens after a certain number of kills and successful missions, to symbolize them regaining purity.

If I made my own chapter it would either be the Sons of the Phoenix (which is a pre existing color scheme admittedly, white with a purple arm and knee pad and gold trim) or the Celestial Lions (gold but with blue helm and shoulders), and imperial fists successor. Ultramarines are still about the most cool looking though...

The Sons of The Phoenix are awesome, love the candles on their backpack. Celestial Lions do look cool. I am a fan of Imperial Fists and White Scars, so anything like that I am totally in to.

My chapter is the 'Cadian Emmisaries'. An Ultramarine sucessor chapter, founded after the fall of Cadia, to track down and eliminate Black Leigon sympathisers. Their armour is painted in the same colours as Cadian Shock Troopers, and the lenses of their helmets are a light purple, to honour the purple eyes of the citizens of Cadia.

@@WePaintMinis Atlas represents endurance and I've had many unfortunate things happen in my life. If Atlas can hold up the heavens I can keep pushing through whatever is going on in my life. Also I learned recently that Atlas' daughters died from grief when their brother died and Zeus made them the head of Taurus (my zodiac) which was just a cool fact. Also I am about to get a tattoo of Atlas haha so it just resonated with me I guess. The chapter has a similar color scheme to the Sons of the Phoenix chapter with white, purple, and gold as the colors. Purple to represent the cosmos, white to represent the marble pillars that Atlas used to hold the heavens in some iterations, and gold to represent the version of Atlas that had the garden with the golden apple Heracles needed for his labors. The lenses are green to represent Gaia who is the embodiment of Earth. Battle-Brothers of Atla's Legion have increased bone and muscle density which let's them carry a lot even for a Space Marine. They also feel a constant heavy weight on their shoulders which is said to be the weight of Atla's destruction. Once they avenge the loss of their home it is said the weight will be lifted. I'm actually getting some new paint and modeling stuff tomorrow so once I finish prep work I can start painting on them. Sorry for the paragraph and story but I am excited about them tbf.

My homebrew are "the golden wraiths" a chapter of mercenary space marines selling there services to planetary governor and rouge traders at a price. they use this money to buy relics. As the first box I picked getting back into 40k was betrayal at cauth and therefore I need an excuse for my marines to have 10,000 year old relic armour and gear. Since then the army has swelled.

I kept the name for my chapter simple: "The Reclaimers" an Ultramarine successor chapter that controls a small colony on a remote planet called Chorus. The inquisition attacked them when they started experimenting on strange alien artifacts on their moon base......so now they fight against the Emperor, believing this is the best way to save humanity

My chapter is "sons of the jade moon" they were created during the cursed founding with a geneseed mutation that caused their skin to become like jade if they were put under too much stress and pressure, over time the chapter was forced to do harder and more dangerous missions by the inquisition who saw them as expendable due to the mutations. The final straw was during the vivarian war where the sons of the jade moon fought an unknown hive fleet of tyranids on their home planet, after the battle only one member of the chapter was left alive, brother xchien, clad in his contemptor dreadnought, for a century he wondered the planet collecting the jade statues of his brethren who died protecting their planet , the dreadnought built a monastery on the highest mountain and placed the heroes completely made of jade in the monasterys halls. He stood in silent meditation until the arrival of Roboute Guilliman. The chapter was rebuilt by roboute and cawl, however there geneseed curse was still there and so the last of the original chapter now wanders the monastery, meditating, keeping the ancient heroes clean, and placing new jade statues within. The chapter itself was noted as a successor to the white scars, and have a very melee based fighting style, each member of the chapter has extreme senses, compared even to other space marines, this allowes them to detect the enemy before the enemy makes themselves known, whether through hearing footsteps in the distance or seeing a patrol from miles away, It is very hard to go unnoticed by this chapter. Their colour scheme is a bit complicated with their arms helmets and the front armour of their legs being a rich crimson and the rest of the armour being black with a jade coloured crescent moon as their chapter symbol.

Me and my mates came up with chapter The Hoodius Classicus they use sonic based weaponry and fight similarly to the imperial guardsmen with lots of artillery and big guns (all sonic weapons of course) there leader of sorts is called Emineptus and as a fun add on they also have a knight that has a giant speaker in its chest there. Oh and there all pretty much deaf from all the noise

My custom chapter I can currently working on is called the Scions of Wyrd. They are a Space Wolves successor, with a more heavy focus on norse mythology. They are really independant of the wider Imperium and have many Psykers who lead them around from visions they have been given. I am making them, you know, not as wolfey, and more focused on the religous practices. Any constructive criticism or ideas are appreciated!

for the record, "Wyrd", is another word for fate in old norse. So in reality, the Scions of Fate are their name.

My own chapter is a group known as the shattered blades, they are a successor to the dark angels whose chapter master was fighting alongside a small group of custodes in the indominous crusade. During a fight with an ork army the custodes got caught in an ork bomb that would’ve killed the both of them but he used his shield to save the space marine. Afterwards his salvaged gear was augmented to fit the captain and became a hybrid of space marine and custodian and then took the rest of his dark angels and made his own chapter. Eventually they got a bunch of special golden weapons and really like dreadnaughts as well as honorable combat, hating savagery like orks daemons and tyranids. They heavily respect the custodes (for obvious reasons) and don’t really like to follow the codex after getting tricked and massacred by genestealer cults followed up by tyranids which lead them to believe they needed a bigger chapter. They also have lots of special dreadnaughts that they… borrowed from some space wolves and blood angels and repainted/ salvaged from them

My chapter the "Imperial Angels" are an Imperial Fists Successor who fight with a mix of shooting and melee so I gave them the tactics Bolter Fusillades and Duelists. They use White as a primary color, red secondary color, and gold for the Imperialis/Aquila.

Homebrew is a great way to further the creativity of the hobby imho. Sorry for the late reply.

My homebrew "Chapter" is named the Secret Keepers. They are a collection of 27 different Deathwatch killteams tasked with hunting and destroying Xenos races who are such abominations that the very knowledge of their existence is a threat to the Imperium, for example, Tyranids with traces of Astartes geneseeds in their DNA. They are masters of hit and run tactics and primarily use heavy weapons. This bizarre combination works well in their favor however, as the mix of lightning fast attacks and heavy firepowr greatly confuse their enemies. The most used weapon in the Secret Keepers arsenal is the Infurnus Heavy Bolter, as it is used to burn any evidence of the Xenos abominations to prevent information on these from escaping the hands of the Inquisition.

If in doubt, burn the Xenos more than you normally would! The Secret Keepers sound cool.

The Panthers. Black and Purple colour scheme..... with white highlights. Infantry based units that work like the UK 1Para and 22Reg SAS. By that i mean they work in small units and are experts in covert infiltration and hard hitting tactics. Also very aggressive snipers and the want to control the battleground from range as well as CQB. Was so happy with the old skool Rhino, the colour scheme on the vehicle not only looked so sleek, but also very aggressive. On the second one i painted, i experimented with the normal camo pattern but with the black and purple colours.... it actually looked fantastic and strangely, on some tabletop maps, buildings and backgrounds, it blends in so well. There are so many options you could tweak and play around with.

4:45 I want to point out that the Armour’s Machine Spirits are pretty particular about Chapter Colours as established by Deathwatch Lore. As an alternative to having “Nightscars” as a splinter of “Whitescars”, you could go with a backstory of a splintered chapter that serves as support for another larger chapter. For example a “Darkscars” squad deployed as an asset for a larger “Whitescars” chapter. This would allow the Armour to remain a darker shade conducive to covert operations without causing a conflict with the Machine Spirits of the armour. For added flare, Dark Angels squads could be atoning for the sins of the original chapter by being subservient to the more loyal chapters. A similar backstory can be used for an Ironhands or Raven Guard squad except for atonement, it comes more from the decimation done to their founding chapter during the betrayal of the Drop Site Massacre on Istvann V. @@hobbywargamer8195 the only known successors of the space wolves came with the ultima founding, the wolfspear, which are all primaris marines, but besides that there are no others, but i thought that seeing that my Claws of Ursus are all primaris as well, they could become a successor chapter. The idea behind them is that they originally were part of the space wolves and were from the bear claw tribe (the same tribe which arjac rockfist came from) and when they crossed the rubicon primaris, it caused the canis helix to change slightly and give the marines more bear like features and therefore it would now be referred as the ursus helix. Anyway this change in the Bear-Claw tribe primaris warriors caused conflict and divide with the other space wolves so the Claws of Ursus were created as a successor chapter

The Brazen Knights, marines clad in red and bronze. A chapter which specializes in close assault, preferring to use APCs like the Impulsor to deliver Bladeguard Veterans and other melee specialists into weak points in an enemy line. They are not subtle, but then again, they aren't supposed to be. Commonly deployed alongside the Ghosts of the Vale (a friend's stealth based chapter) to act as a diversion for the Ghosts' infiltration.

What a great video! I wish I had started here when I began my Space Marine journey and made my own chapter. I loved reading everyone's ideas, there's so much good stuff in the comments, amazing ideas I'd have never thought of. I named my chapter The Oathsworn, a Dark Angels succesor chapter founded in secret by a an ancient Dark Angels marine named Ambrosius, who emerged from the warp with psychic powers during the 36th millenium and now lives backwards through time. The whole idea is Ambrosius is basically Merlin the wizard who finds, amongst the population of a planet whose holy knightly orders have been fighting Nurgle's plagues for centuries, the first child who would become King Artorius, chapter master of the Oathsworn and king of his home planet. Each company is lead by one of the knights of the inner circle. The second company master, Fortius Silverlance, broke his sacred oath for the fallen saint of Slaanesh Maria Clarus, gravely wounding Artorius in the process. Artorius' remains were encased in a dreadnought so he may return when he is needed. While he rests, the chapter is under the command of the ever faithful councel Fidus Viridius and Ambrosius the Wise. They are metallic with green shoulders with cold trims, prayers scribed on their armor and a lot of purity seals. And the apothecaries are plague doctors. So the inspiration is basically Once and Future King during the black plague, and a continuation of the cursed legacy of the Dark Angels.

I started my own chapter recently and I have custom lore that I'm still finishing up. but my chapter are The Knights of Enki. based of of the Sumerian god with silvers, gold and purple on them. Working on names for custom Characters and using the character creator for them from chapter approved 2019.

Love the video! I've created a custom chapter called 'The Brotherhood of the Wolf', they're a successor of both space wolves and dark angels that was created to keep the peace between the two rivals. Each sends a selection of their chapter similar to the deathwatch. Took the name from one of my favourite films. They wear very dark grey armour with bone coloured robes, lots of wolfy and wing bits.

Le pacte des loupes is one of my favorite films as well. Such great choreography.

My Warp Angels are a Dark Angels successor who got pulled into a Warp rift during the Great Crusade when Lion El'Johnson has to high tail it back to Terra. Over 10,000 years, they were changed, but not fully corrupted, by the Changer of Ways before they found their way back into the Materium through another Warp rift. They're a kit bash with the 3rd edition boxed set and a squad of Thousand Sons, painted purple with white and copper accents.

I love the aesthetic of the 1k sons, So this sounds super awesome to me.

I don't know if you still read this video's comments, but I have written up a group of young Primaris Marines that broke off from the Carcharadons Astra, calling themselves the Carcharadons Umbra, nicknamed the Lantern Marines, based on fish that live in the deep depths of the ocean they wear dark black armor with extremely reflective silver bits all over their armor. They attack at night (similar to your Night Scars) but they disorient the enemy by flashing bright strobe lights from the lanterns each member carries, these lights reflecting off of their armor and blinding their victims.

I don't know if anyone's already shared this, but you can also use a more in-depth editor in the Bolter and Chainsword. It doesn't allow shoulder pad customization, but you can select some pieces of equipment on the "beta wargear editor." If you have a PC, try out the Chapter Generator.

@@WePaintMinis its one of the reasons that drew me into the dark angels was the robes they wore and how sinister they look with the robes on them. i had alot of joy for the 7th edition codex because they had robed and unrobed versions of all the official dark angel successors, angels of vengeance stood out for me... black power armor.... black robes... you can't get more cool then that and thats why my guys have black robes

This helped so much! The idea for a raven guard successor chapter made of ex night lords has been banging in my brain and this has absolutely pushed it out. The “fogs of dread” are a terminator heavy band of night lords that left the chapter post istavan. Given korvus had just lost most of his legion, the defectors used their similar stealth abilities to assist the loyalist, hoping to one day reclaim the night lord name as something honourable. Of course, these defectors where mostly Terran veterans, unlike the criminals of nostromo. This meant most operates in terminator armour as veterans of their chapter. So how does stealth mix with loud terminator armour? Well, they use fear tactics and pyskers to create environments in which terror and panic make people irrational, unable to focus on what’s around them. Add to this the raven guards ability to slip between the shadows and suddenly the 1.5 ton demigod soldier you’ve spent the last 10 minutes crying in fear over is behind you with cracking power claws, a plague doctor inspired Corvus pattern helmet, and a strong sense of justice. I don’t know about colour scheme but my god I love that this is an idea now thank you so god damn much

My custom chapter are called "The Moon-Runners", they are based around my favourite football team and my home town. They were for long time kept under the thumb by a rival chaos warband called 'The Scarlet Devils' but more recently the Moon-Runners have been dominant against the Devils and the Devils are mostly irrelevant now. This is great! Thanks for making it. Since everyone else seems to be talking about their own homebrew chapters, I'll have a go at mine. The Foxgaard. Loyalist successors of a breakaway group of Alpha Legion. Orange, black, and silver is their color scheme. Each member has a long purity seal fastened to their lower back, and it is tipped with silver. Silver filigree adorns their right arm as a Vulpes Regaurdant. I'll go into backstory if this gets any traction

My chapter is my first army I am really excited to work towards. I named them "The Blood Hunters" chapters and are clearly a successor of the blood angels. I'm hoping to go for a bat (a bit on the nose for vampire chapter I know) and very cloak heavy designs with my army. So far they have a purple and red scheme with gold trim, hoping I can get better at it actually painting it haha.

My Chapter is "The Markless". Color os Maccarage (or however its spelt) blue with Balthazar gold accents. Some marines have either black armor (meaning they did more then necessary to save people even if they get harmed) or an almost solid Baltazar Gold color scheme (meaning their entire fireteam but them met their end in battle. Gold blotches on the arms legs chest pauldrins and helmet are there for brothers who have fallen. Their pauldrins are bare besides one or two chevrons on their right shoulder (crudely painted to show they were done in a hurry) to denote rank in a fireteam at a glance. Two chevrons are normally worn on a solid gold pauldrin on their right arm. Gold joints knee and elbow pads tell 10 to 30 years of service, a solid gold bar on the top line of their helmet shows 40 plus years of servics.

Thanks for this , fun video! My first mini was a space marine and I knew that the medieval knight/paladin theme was definitely the way to go! Plus my favorite game is Final Fantasy 4, so Paladins in white power armor, teal accents , red and silver. They have a generic boost from their Dark Angels gene seed that allows them to sometimes shrug off Chaos corruption, they are under close scrutiny by the Grey Knights and an Inquisitor as a result. Plasma and Las weapons are the focus, with an entire company devoted to fast attack (so I can use the raven wing goodies) clad in green they are the Dragoons. What ya think?!

I have been creating chapters for a long long time and I always go super indepth but painting has always been my weak spot and so glad I found this chanel all be it a bit late and now after seeing this I now have to come up with another chapter lol as this one was called temporal knights and they are of the ordo chronos but like I said after watching this i need to do a new indepth chapter

That is a great shout. I often do this with other languages too.

Right now, I’m starting with a Raven Guard army, but in the bright light of the far future, I hope to start a successor chapter. I call them the Cobalt Harpies, Raven Guard successors of the Ultima Founding with the kindness and altruism of the Salamanders and Lamenters combined. They stick closely to their progenitor’s combat doctrine but also draw upon modified tactics from the other 1st Founding chapters to supplement their naturally covert nature, even employing their own Noise Marines to compliment the Reivers within the ranks, for example, for a ruthless and brutal fighting style that contrasts their meek personality by a wide margin (I swear on the Emperor’s name that this is different from the Iron Ravens). Their colours are Macragge Blue and Abaddon Black, with their parent chapter referenced in the trim of their right pauldron (White for veterans, Gold for 2nd company, Red for 3rd, so on and so forth). Astartes of higher standing within the chapter have Abaddon Black helms (beakies of course), left pauldrons and left vambraces. Their chapter badge takes the RG’s wings and slaps them on a screaming skull.

Been thinking up a Chapter named 'The White Suns', who specialise in mass infantry assaults. Believed to be successors of the White Scars, their origin has been brought into question due to their differing strategy from their originating Chapter as well as various discrepancies of their Gene Seed which have been covered up by unknown elements, similar to the Blood Ravens chapter. The design would be mainly blue with white trim highlights and such a design being based of Nationalist China and the Kuomintang during the days of the Chinese Civil War.

I called my chapter "Angels of Megaria" because simply that's their homebrew planet and they are blood angels successors(with a bit of Iron Snake inspiration). Their armor is bright red with copper colored pauldrons and bronze trimming, their shoulder badge is the silver head of a Gorgon/Medusa. Their combat tactics are jump pack or inceptor assaults or phalanx and bolter formation for defense. The uniqueness of their gear comes in their Greekish shields and helmets.In melee they tend to use power spears either two handed or with a shield or chainswords. I was trying for a while to think what kind of successor chapter I wanted,but these boys literally came to me in a dream where I was their chapter master with my actual brother at my side and we came to aid in the defense of Baal from hive fleet leviathan, I even spoke with Dante. So yeah xD I basically woke up and was like "those are the ones" and started working on them after that. Am currently working on a unique branch of the black rage of them that comes along with extreme physical mutations.

The Steel Wolves, apparently Space Wolf successors (but are actually Alfa Legion) Upon learning of the Codex Astartes after encountering an Ultramarine ship lost in a warp storm, the Alfa Legion planned to subvert the Imperium by sending a small war fleet into the centre of the Galaxy posing as a Space Wolf successor chapter. There they would aid in internal security, gaining access to key facilities and sabotaging the Imperium's supply networks. Shortly after assuming the disguise and entering the galaxy proper, they encountered an Iron Warriors fleet who destroyed their strike cruiser and damaged all of their other ships. After fleeing to a nearby planet, thay established a defence and were able to hold off the Iron Warriors until an Imperial Fists crusade fleet arrived to save them. Although they had withstood the assault, the Steel Wolves had been almost destroyed. With only 150 regular marines and one Captain remaining, they were forced to adapt and requisition much of the Iron Warriors' vehicles to make up for their lack of manpower. Over the millennia, they have slowly rebuilt however even in M41 remain cripplingly unter strength, as their geneseed supply is very limited. As they have sustained heavy casualties multiple times since, all of the original Alfa Legionnaires have been killed and as such not a single marine knows of their true heritage as they all presume that they are loyalist Space Wolf successors. There have been questions asked however, as to why no marine of the chapter suffers the curse of the Wulfen, and this forced the chapter to flee from the Inquisition several times. Although the chaplains and captains know that they do not share Leman Russ's DNA, they believe that they have a more stable derivative of it and that is why they cannot accept Space Wolves into their ranks; as that is what the last Alfa Legionnaires told them before death. Their Alfa Legion heritage still manifests on occasion despite their looted Iron Warriors focusing on sieges, and their Space Wolf connections suggesting CQC. They remain able to use subterfuge effectively, with many of their foes being shocked to find an ancient Fellblade super heavy tank appearing out of thin air from places that even individual guardsmen struggle to pass. The second way that their past shows is in the cadre of followers they have persuaded to follow them. From battlefields they have won, they often scavenge wargear and search for survivors who have been cut off from their units, or else were the only survivors. It is with great ease that these guardsmen are persuaded to follow the Steel Wolves, and as such join a battalion with little consistency or cohesion, but unwavering loyalty to the Emperor and their adopted chapter. It is not surprising, given the chapter's low numbers, that they never fight without their "Chapter Defence Force" by their side. At the present state of 40k, they are a fleet based chapter in the Imperium Nihilus, where they have made a name for themselves in beating the Tau at their own game in artillery, before closing in with devastating melee that even Leman Russ would be proud of. Although they are aware of the Rubicon Primaris, they reject such reinforcements out of fear of harassment due to their unusual geneseed, which they are only able to produce in limited numbers. Their most recent engagement was upon a necron tombworld, where regiment of the Death Corps of Krieg were sustaining heavy losses. After the Necron's withdrawal from the battlefields, the Steel Wolves recruited a Macharius Vanquisher and crew, who had destroyed 12 obelisks and 3 monoliths in an hour at the battle's peak. The kriegers are currently settling in to the fleet's crusading ways, as they are en route to join forces with a fleet of Black Templars attacking the Tau homeworlds. So yeah, hope you like them!

@@WePaintMinis Thanks for the heart! I'm currently painting their Deimos Predator, it's Lothern Blue with occasional panels and details being white or bronze. Their power armour is also Lothern Blue, with gold shoulder pads that have silver outlines. Their chapter symbol is a bronze wolf head with silver eyes (i know the wolves should be silver but I think the bronze looks better). When there is some detailing that needs doing, chances are it'll be silver. I'm glad you like their saga!

The Praetorians of Iron, a chapter numbering only 500 strong, they're a planet based chapter that focus' on mechanised warfare, using razorbacks and rhinos to deliver their tactical marines with escorted and supported by predators and often allied skatarii forces

(Long message incoming!) I have made three chapters in my life so far, all basically being representations of my experience with 40k. My first chapter was a successor of the Blood Angels, I made them as soon as I found out home brewing chapters were a thing and as the blood angels are my favorite it made sense to make one based on them. Their creation was mainly to fix the only issue I saw with the chapter at the time, their gene flaw. Since I was new when I picked my favorite chapter it had to be the best chapter out of all of them ( only out of the original 9 at the time) so them having this flaw bothered me.I made this chapter to try and find a cure for the red thirst and black rage, I thought of that after reading a story where the dark eldar were able to active the black rage through a bio weapon so if they could activate it then with their research maybe a cure could be found. So as the sons of Sangunius who would bring the chapter to their purest form, I dubbed them The Sanguinary Angels who would save their chapter from this affliction. I made red the main color for their original chapter, silver to show the imperfection of the their gene seed and a gold trim to represent the purity they planned to bring to all of the sons of Sangunius. My second was made afew years later after learning more about the setting and losing my rookie favoritism bias. I was interested in making a new chapter but knowing that if giving free rain I would either end up copying another chapter or be completely stumped for weeks on end, I had to find something to set my focus on what I would make. So after some digging I found a chapter generator on 1D4chan. After half a hour of rolling dice I was given a rather, interesting set of criteria. - The chapter must be successor of the world eaters have a gene flaw were made in the 37th millennium be under 1k in numbers be loyal to the emperor above all use basic weapons be shock and awe be from a airless world have main foe be chaos marines and be friendly to the sister of battle - So with this guidelines I felt excited to create this chapter seeing it as a fun challenge to make something out of this mess. After about a week of work I had the grounds for the chapter. They would be world eaters from the horus heresy who did not turn to chaos, instead in a moment of fear and threat of immediate destruction ran from the drop site massacre making a emergency warp jump as their ships had been late to the battle. The chaos gods decided to have some fun and keep them trapped in the warp so they would not exit for 4 thousand years. This is where is where I started to drop some guidelines for the sake of story sine while I know as my chapter I can write what ever I want, I still things to make sense, to a point. After exiting the warp the marines landed on the near by, the airless world of Val'Andus where the only settlements were dome cites. There they were asked by a local war lord to help end the planetary civil war. The marines agreed vowing to throw off all connection to the world eaters and become a new unit, as the war went on many came to call them the redeemers of the world taking it from a airless dust ball fighting itself to a united planet rich in resources. They were dubbed The Val'Andus Redeemers for not only seeking to redeem the planet but also themselves from both the sin of cowardes at running from Istvann 3 and the sins of their legionfor betraying the Emperor. They would pledge their lives to the emperor above all else fighting in the name of redemption as they saw those sins as eternal. The third chapter I made afew months back out of a fun idea. After listening to some videos about the Dark Angels and learning about their lore I became interested in the fallen, Angels who were a mix of traitors, renegades and loyal marines. I thought, Hey they could be fun to make a chapter based around, So I got to work. Knowing that Dark Angels chase down anything fallen, simply making a chapter of fallen would be both a bad idea and dumb as how would that many fallen be able to assemble without being found out, so I came up with a new idea. Instead of a chapter full of fallen there would be only one, One angel who fled the persecution of the his brothers for millennia only to be found by my second chapter. After hearing his story they decide to help him as this angel was also in search of redemption so with primaris reinforcements from gullium the chapter master of the redeemers gave them to the now Ex-fallen angel to create a new chapter who's duty it would be to track down the fallen just like regular dark angels but instead of just killing them these marines would capture them, sending any traitors back to the parent chapter and returning any loyal angels to the Imperium. With this they were called The Wardens of Vindication, I'm still working on their colors but I will be something based on the normal dark Angel scheme. I still have much to learn but making these chapters have taught me alot, Their stories are much longer and I'm expanding on their lore when ever I get in the mood. Hopfully one day I'll be able to make a truly Me chapter.

My homebrew chapter the "Warspears" are a successor chapter of the Dark Angels who particularly fight in glorious melee combat but their gene seed is a combination of Salamanders and Dark angels. With that in mind they feel emotions and feel obligated to protect humanity Their color scheme is Gold, bronze, black and silver. Their chapter master is Atticus The Blessed who wields a power spear with a c'tan of the night bringer shard powering it.

My homebrew chapter is called ,,the Blood Tears" and are Successor's of the Blood Angels. I paint them blue red and gold. Their backstory is that they have a small genetic flaw in their body that brings them cry blood shortly before and during the black rage. They are also more agressive in the Death Company. They use the colour blue to be more like the Ultramarines, to overshine their flaw, yet still enbrassing their Blood Angel heritache. (Sorry for my bad english)

I wanted to paint my space marines like I've painted my very first space marine (I got him in a event when I was young). So I painted them like that, they almost look like the crimson fists, but I wanted them to be Blood Angels, so I made this backstory.

I'm in love with your Night Scars color theme! Can you share some more pictures of them with us please?

White Vipers, a primaris chapter that has made its home in Imperium Nhilus and battle the endless Xeno Invasions from both major and new minor races. they fight like Imperial fists (ranged, heavy use of Bolter's) but often act like Salamander's, with the records of there creation on Mars no one really knows who they are descended from save the upper command of the Chapter. (Death guard Gene seed, but have chosen to disinherit Mortarion and emulate the loyalist primarch's as "Spiritual Fathers")

Love the name and the fact they are of Mortarions geneseed. Almost like they have to constantly prove their loyalty to the point of complete zealotry.

My custom chapter the "Doomsayers" specialize in killing Psykers and deploy in kill teams to take out targets.

Like It. Sounds like a chapter who constantly warn of impending doom, so take out psykers just in case it does happen. Very cool.

I tried designing a color scheme for a chapter once. I'm a really big fan of the way Celebrants/Invocators did the fading, so I tried that. It ended up looking like someone let a bunch of Iron Hands into the grape jelly.

Honestly? I might just stick with it. After learning about the Sons of The Pheonix, that got some gears turning. Initially planned on having them be Thousand Sons successors and the "definetly just some imperial fist successors no heretical geneseed here" approach makes way more sense.

I don't know if you still read the comments but I've very recently found this video and it's helped me with my journey of making a custom successor chapter The successor chapter I've made is called "the crimson covenant" Basically after the devastation of baal alot of astartes from the blood Angels and from the blood Angels successor chapters grew this hunger to continue fighting the tyranid swarms So through an agreement a small group formed "the crimson covenant" to hunt down tyranids How they hunt for tyranids is that they have spys across the galaxy, deployed on different planets and when the spys discover that the planet is infested with genestealer cultists (after evacuating those who aren't infected by the genestealers) they'll wait until the hive fleet arrives to consume the planet They'll use the planet as bait and they'll attack the tyranid force when it arrives "We're the spilt blood of baal!"

I've got an idea for a chapter called "The Ruinous Zilants" A Salamander successor chapter specialised in heavy amounts of explosions and experimental antimatter weaponry. Sometimes jokingly called the Adeptus Exterminatus by other chapters.

The Enders Of The Forge, a Salamander's Successor Chapter I am making

Mine are the Doom Marines. Their armor is a deep steel blue with blood red shoulders and steel trim. I took inspiration from the saying "marines don't die, they just regroup in Hell". The Doom Marines specialise in long range artillery. Through prayer and rituals, once they die, they physically manifest in the warp. Rituals to the machine spirit manifests their vehicles into the warp too. There they wage war against the daemons in the warp itself. Since their brothers are literally fighting at the gates of hell, Doom marines actively seek death to reinforce their battle brothers. They will often charge the enemy while bombarding them with artillery, catching the enemy by surprise seeing that fighting amongst friendly artillery fire is of no consequence.

My custom chapter is the Scarlet Suns. Based off of feudal Japanese warfare, I took Duellists and Stalwart, for good close combat and hard to kill. Only thing I'm not sure about is if they should be a White Scars successor or unnamed. Great Video!

My custom chapter is the Knights of Calth, the 23rd and final chapter created from the ultramarines legion during the second legion. They were made up veterans of the underground war and due to the radiation their armor was blasted down to the ceramite steel. They maintained the cobalt blue on their shoulder pads and the ultramar symbol as their chapter icon. They are also notable in that they are one of the few ultramarines chapters that is openly codex non compliant as they maintain double strength reserves companies to man the defenses of the viridian system and they uniquely have the members of the first company wear the colors of the ultramarine legion of old. One thing that is unique is that due to calling Calth their homeworld they mainly use MK III and MK IV armors as every hundred years they send an expedition to the surface of calth for what they call the iron harvest, in which they recover suits of power armor, terminator armor, vehicles and weapons. Due to the skill of the chapters techmarine, the knights of Calth have one of the most venerable armories of any chapter rivaling even some first founding chapters, with every battle brother equipped with relic armor and weapons.

my homebrew chapter is a successor of space wolves they are called the valhallen sentinels they use a mix of normal space marine parts and beasts of chaos for weapons and I put horns on there helmets the main colours are ulthuan grey and macragge blue steal all you want if you want

I'm making a secret Iron Hands successor that's -loyal to- very friendly with the Mechanicus. I haven't picked a name or fleshed out all of the details, but the lore is loosely based on the retconned Steel Confessors. The main thing about them is they lean really hard into the whole "flesh is weak" thing. So I'm kit bashing some mechanicus bits onto them. Sons of Steel is one name idea, but I'm open to suggestions... Lore: the Confessors were almost eliminated defending their home world from HF Leviathan, and the Imperium disapproved of them, so I'm thinking my chapter is their rebirth under a new name. The Imperium still disapproves, but felt like a name change would help to eradicate the whole thing from history. They are still required to remain independent, and cannot declare any loyalties to the Mechanicus. The chapter is deeply scarred and changed from the battle of Kalevala, lost their chapter master, but they remain extremely proud and fiercely loyal to the Skitarii that fought alongside them. Due to their status, they are forbidden from any Primaris "upgrades", but Cawl may be working on that... He's beginning to convince people that some Primaris blood will serve to distance them from the Mechanicus. He still hasn't been caught for ordering their founding and providing the geneseed, and he is determined to have an Astartes chapter at his fingertips. If I end up actually playing the game, I want to field a mix of SM and Mechanicus detachments, but I'm sure it's not competitively viable. I also want to make a diorama, and just got another lore idea from that. The chapter is still just getting on its feet again when the Great Rift opens up, and they have to defend their world again - from Chaos this time. It will serve as a true test of their will to survive, and their purity as soldiers of the Imperium. The Inquisition has their finger over the Exterminatus button if they show the slightest hint of temptation or mercy toward the heretics. They would love nothing more than to erase the chapter from existence, but law and dogma require at least some excuse for taking such a drastic action. Ultimately the chapter will come out on top and prove their loyalty, and the Inquisition will groan with frustration.

Thank you for the super in-depth explanation of your chapter. They sound awesome! I like the idea that they are loyal to the Adeptus Mechanicus.

I have worked for more than a Year now on the Storm Giants chapter. A branch of the slamanders that wen down on planet Tallha to rescue a mining colony with whom any contact has been lost. On the planet, they grew stronger and stronger as they had to face the awakening of a Necron dynasty discovered by the miners. Not to mention the regular attacks of Drukhari pirates scavenging slaves on the population. They wear bone white armour, with burgundy red highlights and a soaring lighting bolt on the pauldron. For now on I have a BIG ARMY. Next step is dreadnaughts but I just finished my chapter master Capt'ain. Omega Valerius. Former Salamander lieutenant and Founder of the Tallha Storm Giants. As the chapter is almost done, I plan on going on another chapter, but based on alternative miniatures. the manzu Ama collection available on only games is a good base for Samuraï Space marines. troops composed 100% of reivers ( contact fighters) with deadly power katanas and japanese musket style bolt riffles. A few infiltraters, Centurions and, I hope inceptors and champions. Sounds good to me. The RONIN TIGERS aregonna be warm yellow, bone white and a touch of dark bronze metal. Can't wait to see them opposed on the field.

So me i just paint i was wondering though ive built some space marines with a few wepon combos i havent seen whats aloud on tabel weppn combo wise
