This was a big help, I'm putting together a Dark Angels successor known as the Celestial Sentinels. They were founded to guard a particularly vulnerable and unstable sector of the Imperium somewhere around the 20th Founding, and while they do still have some of the Dark Angel paranoia around the Fallen, they still stick to their designated region rather than joj in hunting them down. They are based on a feudal world where they encourage worship of themselves and the Emperor as divine beings, enphasizing reverence of the Primarchs. I originally planned for them to be preoccupied with a local xenos threat but with the Lion returning I might say that they have a company or so going after him to help with all of the Arks of Omen shenanigans

If one builds a pure Primaris force one could argue their geneseed is from a traitor chapter rather "easily" since Belisarius Cawl had the geneseed of all the primarchs to create them. My chapter Imperial Fists successor, but their Officers were made up of Black Templars. The go by the name of the Gray Hussars, codex divergent Chapter. I based them off the Teutonic Order and the Kingdom of Prussia. They operate in and around the Saras Sector. The have a mixed battle doctrines based on organization. They divide the chapters into Divisions which there are four. Each division has 3 Brigades (Space Marines companies) and an additional platoon. The First Brigade is the Heavy Armored Brigade. Second Brigade is the Drop Pod Brigade. Third Brigade is the Bike and Land Speeder heavy Brigade. They work together to efficiently conduct operations. They also have a Platoon separate from the Brigades call Reconnaissance Platoons that are elite Scouts, Assassins, Sabatours and general Intelligence gathers.

The Division is 3 Brigadeslarge, designed to support one another and rarely operate alone. The brigade is equipped based on it's role and numbers a hundred Astartes. Armored Brigades have Terminators, and lots of Dreadnaughts, APCs and Tanks. The Second Brigade is Drop Pod focused, more like a Shock Infantry style so lots of Tactical and Assault Squads. The Third Brigade is a fast assault force, using a lot of bikes and land speeders.

Okay, so I came up with my chapter idea when I was like 15 so bear that in mind (some things got updated as the lore changed IE Primaris). My boys are the Angels Resolute, a successor of the Dark Angels. They are true Angels of Death, being created in secret away from prying inquisitorial eyes and made up entirely of battle brothers from different Unforgiven chapters that have been "killed in action". Officially they don't exist and that's the way they like it. Their colours are red and silver with black robes (because blood and dirt don't show as obviously on black and the washers in the dark charge a lot for robe cleaning). Lore-wise they bear no chapter markings and are even less friendly or talkative then the other Unforgiven chapters, communicating only with each other and only things pertaining to the mission at hand. This is because they don't want the Imperium at large to know where they come from (model-wise, the Dark angels look really cool and it's a pain to shave off their markings all the time so they get dark angels logos all over them). Fleet-based, they keep on the move constantly never stopping in one place for too long as the Inquisition has spies and even other chapters always searching for them to find out who they are. Of course this secrecy also means they are extremely zealous when it comes to covering their tracks. If a battle brother falls their comrades will fight tooth and nail to retrieve their body so none can test their gene-seed and discover their origin (also, power armor is expensive, if they save it the next guy can use it). If, for whatever reason they can't do so, then there are devices in every suit of their power armour that can be triggered remotely to burn away the body within leaving nothing to test. As with all other Unforgiven chapters they concern themselves almost solely with the hunt for the fallen, though when no clues or rumors present themselves they find enjoyment in the arts. Music, poetry, seeking out chaos cultists and executing them in the most brutal ways possible and painting. They were very slow to take any Primaris, seeing as how they only took new members that could be secreted away without raising alarm. When the Dark Angels became able to create new Primaris of their own, many were created (again, secretly) to bolster their numbers. They also take a slightly more reverent approach to their Primarch then their brothers. New members being inducted into the chapter go through what is called their "resurrection" where they are born anew in a symbolic representation of their Primarch's foretold awakening. They revere the Lion before all others (even the Emperor) though they don't see him as a god, more like a saint or something.

Well hello there. May I introduce you to my Extricators Chapter? A Space Marine Chapter completely focused on finding and assisting other space Marine Chapters in dire need of support. Sometimes they arrive to late and the only thing they can do is take revenge for their fallen brethren and save and record whatever can be found of the deceased chapters culture. Sometimes they only find only remnant troops of the chapter and help them rebuild or integrate them into their ranks. So they are mainly a Vulcan successor chapter but also have brethren from other forgotten chapters who are just there to uphold what is left and to help others so they don't have to endure what they did. They are also not going for the glory kill but prefer to support the chapter in need to get in what that chapter needs so they can win the day themselves. They are support main. Your buddy you can always rely on. Their main colours are yellow and black quarters and the integrated brethren keep their old chapter heraldics on their left shoulder pad. Atm they have a tiny little issue with some renegades that infiltrated them and stole some ships. but that's just something totally minor and not worth mentioning at all. It's under control! Really believe me it's fine. Just don't mind them talking about civil war, that's just dark Humor. Oh come on its not really that big of an issue so ... Please don't inform the inquisition.

We get in, smoke em out along other siege factions, then we refuel and repeat. Maby "boiling bloods" or "flamen blitz" something siege and fire based.

That part on the traitor legions being ok to use put me at ease. I used the chapter creator to help me make a original chapter but with more of a push to try new things. After rolling the dice i ended up with a chapter of space marines who like shock and awe, use the basic gear (boltors and normal pattern vehicles) supported by artillery, who come from a airless world, were founded in the 37th millennium and get their gene seed from the world eaters. I made it where three battle barges from the drop site massacre came late and once they saw what was happening, the ran jumping into the warp. Do to the situation and the chaos gods wanted to punish them they didn't reappear for 4 thousand years. After the Great howling the Astartes landed on a Airless world of domed cites. they freed the world from its warlords and choice to try and redeem not only the war from it's violent past but themselves from the sins of their primarch and battle brothers. named after the planet they landed on, I called them the Val'Andes Redeemers. They wear the opposet of blood red which is cyan according to a color wheel, they have blue and white as to touch back to their hellHound days and they have a court theme with some of their units. They also only have crusade era armour, so mark 4 and afew mark 3 with even afew old style dreadnoughts. That is the basics of them but I have so much more written and to write. I have only been into warhammer for three years and never played the tabletop but I love making my own chapter and this video helped me add even more to it.

I like how I spent years agonizing over the lore for my custom Chapter, had an army painted (I both suck at model painting and had no time so it was easier for me to have someone else do it) and spent a summer finalizing shit for their story, and I still watch these videos whenever they come up thinking "maybe I forgot something..." Despite Sanguinius being my favorite Primarch and the Blood Angels being my favorite Chapter, I didn't want to deal with the Flaw or the whole "dying Chapter" thing. I played with a couple different versions of their lore, one where they were a Dark Angels successor (the DA's had a pure geneseed, but I ended up scrapping it because it became too much of a hassle writing around the hunt for the Fallen which my guys didn't bother with) and I also toyed with the idea of making them descended from a loyalist band of World Eaters, but I abandoned that because it just felt like too much bullshit to write around. I liked the color of the Blood Angels, was also a fan of the barbaric looks of the Space Wolves, but wanted a more "regular" army. Basically I wanted the blandest base to build off of, so I made them Ultramarines. I wanted a long history, so I made them Second Founding, and was able to create their founder, an Ultramarines Assault Captain called Severus Kage (who I conceived of as basically Kratos as a Space Marine) who was in the background for alot of important shit like Imperium Secundus and whatnot but was never really front and center for it. Because of his over the top nature Guilliman didn't really like him and regularly deployed him far away to keep him out of his hair. While there Kage and his men palled around with a Blood Angels company where him and the BA Captain became close enough that they regarded eachother as brothers. When the BA Captain fell, Kage inherited his Power Axe Hellsplitter. During the Imperium Secundus thing, he tried to return the axe to Sanguinius and the Blood Angels, but instead was told to keep it and was dubbed the Knight of Hell by the BA Primarch. When the Second Founding happened, Kage was given command over one of the new Chapters and was assigned many of the more rowdy elements that Guilliman wanted rid of from his Legion. For his Chapter, Kage modeled their look and name off the Blood Angels he admired, combining their name with his title creating the Hells Angels. The Hells Angels don't turn up in any lists of Second Founding Ultramarines successors, but generally admit that Guilliman likely wouldn't have counted them anyway. After a few centuries of being a fleet based chapter, they stumbled on a world called Algrim peopled by techno-barbarians modeled on Robert E. Howard's Cimmerians. Kage himself eventually died in battle, and his Hellsplitter Axe became the badge of office for all successive Chapter Masters. I made them as a pretty straight up Codex Chapter, only real deviation being I hated the colored shoulder trim for companies so I had that marked by an insignia on the right knee pad. Really I hate the Blood Angels different helmet color for unit specialization thing, so the Hells Angels all wear red helmets (except for First Company guys not in Terminator armor who I have wearing gold like the Blood Angels) and units are denoted by the standard codex symbols on the right shoulder pad. I've yet to try to play them on the table top, and am unsure whether I'd use Ultramarines rules for them and just gear them towards assault tactics or if I could get away with using Blood Angels rules for them since that's who Kage modeled his Chapter on and he liked being up close and personal in fighting. Also since the Primaris have come out I don't know what to do with them since I've got a pretty straight up Demi-Company of OG Space Marines (or "Firstborn" as they're apparently called now) with a few elites and Terminators attached to it. I don't personally like the lore or unit composition of the Primaris, but since I wrote the Hells Angels to be a chapter of greedy pragmatists they would have gleefully accepted them into their ranks by my own conception.

@@OneMindSyndicate Thanks alot. I'll admit that idea occurred to me as well. I've got a bunch of other custom Chapters I've conceived of, most of which were just me wanting to take the look or flavor of a chapter I like but not wanting to be bogged down by the Chapter's lore. The Hells Angels were designed to be Space Wolves wearing Blood Angel colors but organized as Ultramarines. I guess for the culture of the Chapter I tried to find a happy medium between biker gang and professional army and ended up with something like the Jomsvikings. I'd written a possible scenario where when the Great Rift opened up the Hells Angels were spread thin and lost nearly everybody, so when Big G showed up with the Primaris the Hells Angels just decided to rebuild from the ground up and eventually the elites of the Chapter would cross the Rubicon Primaris. Looking at things now it all depends on how Dante looks whenever he gets an updated model (for the Chapter Master called Amra I basically took Dante, added some horns to him to make him look demonic and had him painted red and black). Maybe eventually the Primaris will have a suitable heir to the Assault Marines and I'll be able to get over my dislike of them, but for now my Hells Angels are sitting pretty on my shelf waiting for me to do something with them. I do want to build at least a little army of one of my other chapters, maybe the Dark Angels successor I made so I can have some guys using the whole "Knightly Order" conceit.

My boys are the Swords of Kanen, a Space Wolves successor chapter based in the Ultima Segmentum. Their homeworld, Kanen, is on the humble side of the hiveworld spectrum. Their "flaw" is that their eyes permanenently glow a brilliant gold color at all times. Much like the Salamanders, they're more kind towards the citizenry of the Imperium, likely an effect of them being based on their beloved Kanen. They also are heavily entrenched in belliefs of honor, chivalry, and glory, especially in battle. They were founded shortly after Abbadon's 13th Black Crusade and the Fall of Cadia to try and help make up for the tremendous loss that was Cadia. Their Chapter Master, Lord Honorant-Solar Fregdis Honorblade (Fregdis pronounced Fray-dys), is actually the third Lord Honorant-Solar to serve as regent of the Swords of Kanen. The first was brufally torn asunder by a Khorne Berserker, and the second was reported missing when one Trazyn the Infinite attacked on an outing to the Imperium Nihilus. The Swords do make use of Primaris marines, not really believing in the whole "Invention is Heresy" thing. Speaking of heresy, they don't worship the emperor either. Sure they fight in his name, but he's no god to them. This has lead to an incident involving the Ordo Hereticus of the Imperial Inquisition launching an investigation of the Chapter. Nothing ever became of it, but Kanen and her Swords remain under the ever-watchful eye of the Inquisition. Reportedly, battle-brothers of the Swords of Kanen have been seen present in the Indomitus Crusade, however this has not been yet confirmed, this is simply hearsay. Tell me what you think of my Chapter in the replies! Anything I should change or add? Feel free to give your input!

as for my homebrewed chapters that use traitor geneseed i say that: "they are experiments to seed if the seed itself is flawed or not" meaning the mechanicus are quite aware that the Sigma slayers (Dusk Raiders/Death Guard), Eternity Inculpators (Emperor's children), Space Hyenas and its splinters (the splinters being: Spotted hyenas, Strandwolves, Striped Hyenas, and Aardwolves.. oh and as for the Geenseed, its War-hounds/World-Eaters), the Viridian Dukes (Night Lords), Bismuth Soldiers (Iron warriors), Red hounds (Lunar wolves/Sons of Horus/Black Legion), the traitorous Armoured Saints (Word bearers), the Avenger's Psithes (Alpha Legion), and this is the homebrew explanation of the Blood ravens (1000 sons).

My army is the Company of the Shadow, a former loyalist Death Falcon chapter. Their history is unknown, as a dark force awoke in their homeworld that turned all the imperial guard and civis into zombies. The Death Falcons went deep into the underhive to purge the threat but emerged as the converted Company of the Shadow. My explanation is that they awoke a Necron overlord and are now a Chaos Space Marine\Necron army.

And no they do not use the butcher's nails but a sometimes prone to berzerker rages especially against there patient chapter

Mine are a non codex compliant boys. Unknown primarch and founding but there are hints since they use old pattern armors as well. I organized the higher leadership of the chapter in "houses": house of warriors where all the captains and the chapter master meet to discuss issues regarding wars, house of the iron soul is where the tech marines gather, house of life is where the apothecaries meet and house of knowledge where the librarians meet. Force wise each company is dedicated to a speciality: company of the explorer (mostly scouts and phobos pattern boys) for example

Fantastic video guys. My own custom chapter is a successor to the Iron Hands, and while they feel the urge to replace perfectly good flesh for bionics they don't for to give into the temptation is weak. They're broken into 5 great houses (they get a sixth when primaris comes to them) each named in honor to one of the founders (these warriors were survivors of the Drop Site Massacre). Each house has it's own doctrines, I'm even having fun with converting Primaris marine bodies to fill the roles of the "mini" marines. Currently using the Codex Deathwatch for them, but have been eyeing the Iron Hands (for the primaris who they "accepted" into the chapter). One weird quirk that I was playing around with is that the chapter uses "non-augmented" humans as combatants, not foot soldiers, but vehicle operators. They see this as a more effective way of using their resources, since they think that a battle-brother driving a tank is a waste of the enhancements that they've underwent. Yes that means that it is possible to have a female crew member operating a tank, why waste the best warriors that they come across.

I’m going to vent my ideas here because none of my friends like 40K. I wanted to make a imperial fist successor chapter called the Robustus Custodia who’s paint scheme is similar to the Star Wars 501st and captains etc in a scheme of the corruscant guard. I also wanted to have them be supported by a regiment of their own shock troopers who look have uniforms similar to the British Victorian uniforms (the red ones in the Zulu war accented with white armour). Any ideas I’d be happy to take and critiques as I’m pretty new to warhammer 👍

I also like the idea of mixing two. A salamander successor chapter where the skin tone flaw of Corax shows up. So you kit bash Raven Guard upgrades (heads) with Salamander bodies. Iron Hands Raven Guard could be cool too. A robotic fast attack/tank-ie army That's guy Grey Knights or Inquisitors with them making sure the warp taint doesn't increase or devour this new shiny tool of the Father.

Yeah I can help with this. So during the great crusade the spacemarine legions were known to send company sized detachments to fight along side other legions. Many of those detachment came back to their parent chapter with the combat doctrines expertise of the battle brothers they fought with. You can have an imperial fist successor chapter that fought alongside the raven guard or vice versa. And you can use one chapter rules in one game and the other chapters in another but still maintain the same homebrew chapter. The deathwatch can be a specialist company in your chapter and when ever you feel like playing them you bring them out.

My 2 homebrew chapters are: The Blind Angels, a sucessor Chapter of the Blood Angels which drafts only from Psykers, but which through their initiation rituals lose their sight, compensating the sensorial loss by using their Psychic capabilities to unveil the souls of those around them. They mostly operates against heretics and, eventually, chaos, as their soul-sight allows them to detect such foes with ease, making them valued allies of the Ordo Malleus and Ordo Hereticus, despite their proximity with such orders, though, the Chapter is far from praised/honored by public records, as they seen to have a hard time differentiating xenos souls from human souls (tyranids and orks being the main exception, also, drukhari are detected as are heretical humans, and necrons “have no souls”, but for the rest, Blind Angels can’t really distinguish them from humans by their soul sight alone) which brought the Ordo Xenos, on multiple ocasions, to call for the termination of the Chapter under accusations of heresy, a demand that took the entirety of the Chapter’s influence with the other 2 orders to halt. As such, the Chapter is mostly a fringe Chapter of glories unsung, walking the thin thread between indispensable heresy detectors and heretical “xenos apologists”. Also, blanks are, obviously, the bane of said chapter, given those not executed by the Imperium are those trained for assassination missions, and Tyranids are all apex predators, both fighting on the advantage on blinding these Marines. Despite recruiting only from Psykers, the majority of the Chapter uses it’s full potential to compensate for their lack of sight, and even those capable of more usually focus on mastering diverse combat application of Smite, effectively replacing their grenades of all types (used as grenades, such is their mastery, not as a Psychic Power) only the most powerful psykers can actively employ more of their might in more diverse skills, though, famously, the entirety of it’s First Company, the Winged Ones, chose to employ Wings of Sanguinius, instead of terminator armor (it was millennia before the Company got it’s first Dreadnought and realized even a Dreadnough can be lifted with the Wings of Sanguinius, by them it was already custom to not employ Terminator Amor with the first company “for it’s weight”, restricting it to only the units commonly associated with the use of Jumppacks. Notoriously, it’s most powerful psykers will look like the apprentices of other Chapters by the untrained eye, capable of just a couple of flashy demonstrations of their psychic might, but, for any Psycher, the capability of sustaining soul sight, wings of sanguinius and employ “smite grenades” at will with neglectable chances of bestowing the Perils of the Warp upon it’s users, dare say employ yet another psychic power at the same time (finally reaching the limit control for the Chapter’s Epistolaries) is both baffling and cause of concern, again bringing the Chapter often at odds with the inquisition and, this time, with the Astro Telephatica. And The Cracked Angels (this one I made after I failed to find Primaris that fit on the Blind Angels, though is Assault Primaris have Jumppacks, 9E will see me focus more on the former Chapter) the Guardian Angels, stationed near the center of the Galaxy was located is hazardous region of space where even the Black Ships had a hard time reaching. To aggravated the situation, it’s planets had always had a large amount of psychic mutations, and, eventually, the Chapter took it upon itself to deal with the unsanctioned psyker problematic, training them into Librarians and purging those who failed to abide by the hardships of the marine’s life style. Starting by M40, the Chapter started receiving ever increasing attention of Aeldari of all kind, in particular, the xenos seen to hunt down the Chapter’s Librarians. By 999.M42, the Chapter was visited by unassuming old man that warned it of a prophecy it have had, soon the Chapter would be assailed by xenos, heretics and loyalist at once, and it’s downfall would come by treacherous hands, not of the 9 of the eye, but by those who would forsaken them. The Chapter payed little attention to the warning, it’s own Librarians failing to receive any prophecies, probably due to Aeldari intervention, besides, the old man’s claim were borderline heretical. As such, the Chapter was unprepared when the Cicatrix Malledictum swole it’s home system whole. Struck fighting against Aeldari, Daemons and World Eaters, all at once, the Chapter thought it had found new sparks of hope when they detected Imperium ships arriving at the System, not only that, but the impossible had happened, the fleet was lead by Roboute Guilliman, the avenging son reborn from it’s stasis. This hope soon turned to horror as the fleet, assuming the planet lost, joined in on the thrice declared Exterminatus, the planet bombarded by three different foes, still disputing themselves over who would end the planet. It was at this moment, while holding a last mass to the remaining citzens of it’s homeworld before going out in glorious defiance, that the old prophet returned. He warned the Chapter needed not accept this Fate, that it was possible to save those they oathed to protect as well as the Chapter’s future itself. As if in a signal of the path they should take, the Chapter’s last Chaplain was struck down by the Mars Pattern Lasscannon batteries of the loyalist fleet when he opposed the prophet over his proposal. The Chapter followed him up to what appeared a xeno structure, a webway portal. For their surprise, the prophet could open it, and promised to teach them how to turn their foes roads against them once the planet’s populus were safe. The Chapter finally crossed the webway to find itself surrounded by Rubric Marines. On their last strength and surrounded, it was with uncofessed relief they noticed the Rubricai were not hostile. Indeed, they were not even pointing their weaponary against the just arrived “guests” despite the dozen rounds shot against them. With the commotion subsiding with their foes inaction, the Chapter noticed an enigmatic figure by the side of the old prophet.Ahriman had being the one to send them warning of their Fate. And now he brought yet another foresight. Khorne believed itself the “owner” of the Blood Angels due to their Red Thirst and Black Rage. The Chapter could prove him right by returning to the Cicatrix Malledictum, by returning to their homeworld, just to be consumed by the Blood God and turned mindless berserkers on his eternal battlefields. The Chapter could also retain it’s loyalt to the Imperium that answered their call for help with exterminatus over their homeworld by standing and fighting - Ahriman gesticuled to his rubricai outnumbering the remains of the Chapter five to one and to the civilians that would die on the crossfire. Or the Chapter could realize that it’s unusually high psychic performance, both of the Blood Angels as a whole and of the Chapter in specific, is actually Tzeentch’s blessing. And Tzeentch would help them survive these enddays, if only they would spit at the face of Khorne, and deny him their Rage. It was the middle of M40 when the Aeldari started their campaign against the Broken Angels, but the Chapter’s Librarians prophecies allowed them undeniable advantage on each battle, and the Chapter won crushing victories against their foes. Except for some dozens fallen at the start of the campaign, usually Chapains advancing way too far ahead of it’s troops, records show that this Chapter of increadibly cracked armor, as if damaged by calamity unimaginable, always returned from their flashpoints in it’s entirety. Soon the Chapter forfeited it’s traditional jumpack+chainsword assault in favor of a more steady advance, always sending a psyker with each squad for versatility. By the turn of the milenium, the Chapter had developed it’s own Psychic Disciplines, stranding apart of the Blood Angels Legion. By the middle of M41, the Aeldari were all but defeated, the Cracked Angels astonishing rate of success finally depleating their forces beyond that which the race was disposed to sacrifice, their soulstones taken from their carcasses by uncaring Marines and broken on holo messeges as a warning to incoming reinforcements. When the Cicatrix Malledictum took form, it went around the System, making it a vital point in one of the few corridors uniting the Imperium Nihilus and the Imperium proper. It mostly gracious accepted the Primaris reinforcement on it’s never ending crusade to keep the forces of Khorne away from the corridor. Yet, true to the belief that what firstborn marines lack in raw power they compensate in experience when compared to the Primaris Marines, it’s 10th Company, the Primaris Companies, neve last longer than a couple years, all falling on the battlefield (or, at least, so the documentation claims), while the firstborn return always on their entirety, despite undeniably cracked armors. The Cult of Duplicity warband stays posing as a Loyalist Chapter, keeping control of the corridor for the Thousand Sons Legion, denying it’s access to the followers of Khorne and Xenos alike, and delivering it’s Primaris for the Legion to study.

On genetic draft by Mechanicus: Blind Angels just give their geneseed, no problems. Their blindness come from another source, not genetical malfunction. Cracked Angels: though the Librarians have lost their connection to Khorne (aka: the Red Thirst) such genetic mutation is seen in a good light by the Imperium. It never send the “geneseed” of it’s rubricai, for obvious reasons. On the Founding: Blind Angels: it’s founding Epistolary was among the first to recover from the Red Thirst after the death of Sanguinius, and, taking advantage of the chaos, set flight of his voidship to learn the secrets of “the blade that started the heresy”, the anathame, which set him on a centuries long process of reformulating the process such that it could be made with the blessings of the Emperor, instead of those of the Chaos God. The result is a relic blade crafted with the psychic might of it’s artisan, that ultimately consumes his sight during the process. A name can be whispered to the blade during it’s crafting, and upon striking the creature whose true name it was given, the blade calls upon the power of the Emperor Himself to smite the foe, potentially destroying a daemon permanently. No mundane blade can survive the might of the Emperor though, and it inevitably shatter upon channeling such might. Only scouts that return with their blades shattered in such way are accepted as fully fledge marines, and even the Primaris must go through this process to be truly seen as one of the Chapter’s forces, a process they are slowly adapting to. For unknown reasons, no psycher can ever craft two such blades, and the shards remaining from it, when enough to be used as another blade, are not nearly as powerful as the former was. The founder had to implement this method before he was satisfied with his studies to slay the Daemon Prince leading a Daemon incursion just a few decades prior to the Third Founding, granting him these Chapter. Despiste their best attempts, little to no progress have being made on the the technics to craft such blade, it is generally assumed that one would need to have witnessed the real deal, the anathame or the daggers crafted from it’s shards, in use to achieve the understanding needed to the advance the technics. The Chapter was founded on the Third Founding. Cracked Angels: the Chapter’s history go back to M38, but it’s documentations have vanished from the Imperium’s vaults, despite being documented as present, as such, it’s actual founding is unknown. There also seen to be some incongruences between the documented events of the Chapter and what actually transpired. The Warbands warlocks assume such disparities are part of the changes Tzeentch made to their history to protect his newly acquired afront to Khorne from Imperial detection, at least for as long as his plans so demand.

During the Wars of Blood: Blind Angels: from depending on the Emperor to see, to calling upon his might to slay daemons, and long astray from it’s founders, taking the Emperor for his divinity was but a step. Cracked Angels: the Chapter was founded much after the event, and never saw the Emperor as an unfailable god, a vision that certainly helped on their acceptance of Tzeentch as a god. Ultima Founding: Blind Angels: to a Blind Angel, what made their Chapter is not so much their geneseed as it is their ritual. Indeed, the deathvision of sanguinius does not seen to strike this Chapter depleated of a vision to begin with, and whose entire service is seen through the Eyes of the Emperor, as such, it was a matter of the Primaris partaking on these rituals to have them accepted on the Chapter. Cracked Angels: the Chapter’s warlocks are no simpletons, they know Tzeentch didn’t chose them just to spite Khorne, and that their purpose is more than holding a warpstorm-free route for a Legion that withstood 10k years on the Eye of Terror. Their duty is to deliver the creations of Cawl and Guilliman to the Legion. As much as far as they are concerned, the Sect of Mutation - or at least some of it - are on a race against Fabius Bile on who will be the first to corrupt Primaris Marines to the forces of Chaos... and the Cracked Angels are called time and again to raid nearby posts suspected of holding Fabius researchs on the topic and deliver it to the Legion. Not much have being attained so far, but the warlocks feel that Fabius and the Cult won’t be far apart when they each find their own ways of corrupting Primaris. In deed, the Legion is sure that the Cult of Mutation have already suceeded in corrupting Primaris, what they still lack is the ways of holding them as Rubricai.

I've been coming up with a Space Marines Chapter, on the account that I've been thinking about it for like a week or so, it's a Primaris Chapter I call the Gearheads. They are an Iron Hands Successor Chapter, but don't have this urge to replace their organic body parts with augments (due to their Geneseed being less riddled in flaws due to some "additions" made by Belisarius Cawl). Though they do love tinkering with stuff, for example, improving the Life Support Systems of their Redemptor Dreadnoughts so the Primaris Marine entombed in their sarcophagus won't burn out and the strain it puts on them being non-existent. Their even willing to salvage any undamaged Xenos tech to see if anything can be used to improve their Wargear, ships and vehicles, even inventing their own patterns and improving upon them, though said patterns are kept a secret as they don't want the Inquisition to punish them for Tech Heresy. The main reason for keeping their patterns a secret, is that one pattern in particular is a "Machine Spirit", one they call a Medical Artificial Intelligence or M.A.I for short. M.A.I has another device built into her called the Daemonward, an upgraded Gellar Field which basically prevents any Warp Entity from interacting with her much less be within her vicinity, lest they get burned alive. Rendering M.A.I immune to the Warp, a necessity as she's responsible for the creation of further Gearheads and is also the Head Apothecary of their Chapter. She even contributed to the improvement of the Redemptor Dreadnoughts Life Support Systems, and assisted in creating a "Template" that could allow a female to be imbued with their Geneseed, another thing that'll get them on the Inquisitions Shit List if they ever found out about it on the account that an "Abominable Intelligence dared to tamper with The God Emperor's work!". Mind you, this is the only A.I they've invented, as the Gearheads wanted to create something that isn't bred for war since the Gearheads are more than capable of doing that already. Their Chapter Planet is a Forge World that was subjected to a "Melee Exterminatus" by the Space Sharks, which they managed to not only get up and running again in a relatively short amount of time (around 5 years), but made it a thriving civilization that is basically a think tank for both the Gearheads alongside the humans that call it home and named their Chapter Planet Sollertia (Ingenuity in Latin). Their Fortress Monastery is more like a Fortress Laboratory, as the Gearheads aren't a religious bunch and more like men/women of Science. It's where the bulk of their tinkering/inventing takes place, along with where they keep the majority of the intact Xenos Tech they salvage, at least those too big or important to be left in their ships. Which lack any and all religious iconography, opting to maximize their potential while not at the expense of human lives, though that can be said about everything the Gearheads tinker with and invent.

I have an Idea for an ultima founding, all primaris chapter called The Krakengarde. A space Wolves Successor chapter inspired from real life sea stories and legends. With the Chapter master Named "Ayehab" (Captain Ahab), captain of the 2nd company Captain "Barabossa" (Barbarossa), captain of the 3rd Captain "Neemoh" (Captain Nemo). and so on... They will come from a water planet that will have SOME land but it will be just about 15 or 10% land or so and they will all speak like sailors with that thick stereotypical pirate accent. They'll get their recruits and even train underwater which will host a variety of massive and dangerous sea creatures such as actual krakens, a hydra-like creature with many heads, giant mosasaurs and plesiosaurs, massive schools of killer piranhas, and other oceanic terrors. Deeper in the water, built within a massive and dark trench will be their fortress monastery, a huge facility built to stand the pressure of the water and where they will have plenty of practice defending their territory from predators attracted to all the lights and underwater machinery. They will inherit the close combat ferocity and melee prowess of the Space Wolves, but also their crude drunkenness and love of alcohol, in fact drinking special ale will be how they keep the Curse of the Wulfen at bay and even give them an advantage in battle so long as they dont overdrink. If they do overdrink, they must overcome a series of trials to be allowed back into the chapter that include -getting his belly shaved with a rusty razor -being locked in the brig an entire solar month -tied to a barrack with the "planetary governor's daughter" and other weird tasks I know it kinda sounds like a joke or a parody chapter but I'm still working on it, I kinda wanna make it work for real.

For the lore veterans in the community, I have a question. I want to create a successor chapter of the salamanders. They are a crusading chapter that prefer the use of flamers, heavy weaponry and tanks. They are called to planets that are in dire situations and require immediate help. There motivation for that is, that the colony with their families the were to protect got overrun by Xenos and for the guilt that they could not protect them they went on a crusade to purge all xenos that threaten empire worlds. The question, does this sound plausible. I’m in the middle of reading the salamander books but lack knowledge of the influential big events.

im kinda at an intermediary level, I know more than just the basics but i wouldnt say veteran, however I do think your story sounds plausible, maybe even reasonable. It mirrors one of Vulkan's actions when he defended a dead world out of the guilt he felt for all life on the planet being lost, and it also makes complete sense. I think they would be understandably pissed off at failing to protect their families and other loved ones to where I'm positive they would be allowed to prepare and mount an entire crusade against a xeno race.

IMO the best fan chapters are the ones that fit smoothly with existing lore. Leave things vague enough that one line from a new book can't instantly contradict it. The minute I see "he met with the Emperor" or "he was gifted something by a primarch for being the best ever" are just bad. I made mine based on the idea of one of the lost legions founding their own empire far out from the Imperium, covers all bases unless they decide to someday flesh out the lost legions.

This was a lovely video and love watching and learning well I am bored at work. Yet I have never played this tabletop so can you please explain to me this, is creating your own homebrew chapter just for you to take out or for a campaign to play like Dungeons and Dragons style, where there is a Game master telling the story. If it is just you going out to different games or tournaments how or why would someone care about the lore you have created?

The lore you make is just to give the battles a little more flavor and backstory. Unless you are playing the crusade/narrative game mode, the battles are more like giant complicated chess matches than D&D.

I have an idea for a successor Ultramarine chapter idea. I love The Mortifactors and all of their little quirks, but I really want to focus less on power scythes, and primal technologies. Maybe impliment something of a group getting separated when their homeworld (Posul) was destroyed, and decided to use more technological weapons and equipment. I want to keep the skull collecting and consuming the enemy, as well as the heavy use of tarot cards to dictate decisions. Maybe base the design, colours and ideals off of a specific tarot card or set of 3 tarot cards? Any tips or anything that may improve these ideas?

I'm making a secret Iron Hands successor that's loyal to very friendly with the Mechanicus. I haven't picked a name or fleshed out all of the details, but the lore is loosely based on the retconned Steel Confessors. The main thing about them is they lean really hard into the whole "flesh is weak" thing. So I'm kit bashing some mechanicus bits onto them. Sons of Steel is one name idea, but I'm open to suggestions... Lore: the Confessors were almost eliminated defending their home world from HF Leviathan, and the Imperium disapproved of them, so I'm thinking my chapter is their rebirth under a new name. The Imperium still disapproves, but felt like a name change would help to eradicate the whole thing from history. They are still required to remain independent, and cannot declare any loyalties to the Mechanicus. The chapter is deeply scarred and changed from the battle of Kalevala, lost their chapter master, but they remain extremely proud and fiercely loyal to the Skitarii that fought alongside them. Due to their status, they are forbidden from any Primaris "upgrades", but Cawl may be working on that... He's beginning to convince people that some Primaris blood will serve to distance them from the Mechanicus. He still hasn't been caught for ordering their founding and providing the geneseed, and he is determined to have an Astartes chapter at his fingertips. If I end up actually playing the game, I want to field a mix of SM and Mechanicus detachments, but I'm sure it's not competitively viable. I also want to make a diorama, and just got another lore idea from that. The chapter is still just getting on its feet again when the Great Rift opens up, and they have to defend their world again - from Chaos this time. It will serve as a true test of their will to survive, and their purity as soldiers of the Imperium. The Inquisition has their finger over the Exterminatus button if they show the slightest hint of temptation or mercy toward the heretics. They would love nothing more than to erase the chapter from existence, but law and dogma require at least some excuse for taking such a drastic action. Ultimately the chapter will come out on top and prove their loyalty, and the Inquisition will groan with frustration.

making a Raven Guard successor chapter now thanks bro. They're the remnants of the terrans that were sent to deep space having returned due to the great rift being created. I was thinking that they had chilled out in their "definitely not a penance" crusade. Giving them a shaolin theme and i'm very excited. Pog and thanks bro!

My chapters origin is the Indomitus Crusade as a subcrussade (I read that in the 9th rulebook) As such, it had all nine loyalist genelines and embraced this diversity of tactics as a gift. (My excuse to switch Tactics for fun) Squads can have five or more different insignia because marines wear them on the left shoulder in original colors. (I already stockpiled upgrade kits and ruined the original shoulders of my marines to fit the new bits) The Vigilus specialist detachment Indomitus Crusaders and the Greyshield warlordtrait are the basis for this whole process.

Mine are the Doom Marines. Their armor is a deep steel blue with blood red shoulders and steel trim and helmet. I took inspiration from the saying "marines don't die, they just regroup in Hell". The Doom Marines specialise in long range artillery. Through prayer and rituals, once they die, they physically manifest in the warp. Rituals to the machine spirit manifests their vehicles into the warp too. There they wage war against the daemons in the warp itself. Since their brothers are literally fighting at the gates of hell, Doom marines actively seek death to reinforce their battle brothers. They will often charge the enemy while bombarding them with artillery, catching the enemy by surprise seeing that fighting amongst friendly artillery fire is of no consequence.

So I want to make a successor chapter of the Exorcist, but I can't really figure out what else I need to do OR if this stuff is accurate... I'm going with a more rust orange, fade into red color scheme with purple trim. I wanna do a more toolbox/well rounded "wage war" approach so rules wise prolly go Ultramarines. I have a trophy hunter aesthetic thing going on so I need to find a way to explain that (right now I'm using it as a minor mental flaw, that they're show offy). Gene Seed- Emperor Flaws- Pale skin and blue eyes due to being on a blinding white snow world, and they have an urge to show off their kills by collecting skulls. Founding- Started as an Orison to the SpaceWolves but was forged into a crusading chapter so the Inquisition/GreyKnights/Exorcist could be in more places. Anything else you think I need? Anything else I need to explain? Does it make sense and is it accurate?

Chapter: Cobalt Harpies Colours: Dark blue and dulled leadbelcher, right pauldron trim is consistent with Raven Guard format, higher ranked battle brothers get a black left pauldron, left arm harness and beakie helm Symbol: Screaming skull with Raven Guard wings Founding: Ultima Founding (All Primaris) Succeeds: Raven Guard Geneseed: Corvus Corax Geneseed flaws: See Raven Guard Geneseed flaws Specialty: Covert operations and rapid deployment, adaptation of other Chapter specialties to supplement their stealthy approach Chapter Master/Master of Songs: Torvoch Coghorn, originally a Firstborn Veteran of the Raven Guard 3rd Company known for his soft spoken nature, boundless humility and philanthropic ideals. Crossed the Rubicon Primaris upon hearing of Guilliman’s plans for an Indomitus Crusade, wanting to do more good in the galaxy with more efficacy and was chosen to be the Chapter Master of the newly formed Ultima Chapter by Master of Shadows Kayvaan Shrike. Fun fact, he’s also half-Eldar, but that’s a very well guarded secret to keep the Harpies’ least favourite Imperial faction, the Inquisition, off their necks. Beliefs: Combat pragmatism, humanitarianism, Imperial Truth Personality: Kind, humble and down to earth, self-deprecating Codex Astartes: Compliant Homeworld: Fleet based (they go where the work is and set up a squadron on any planet they land on) Recruitment source: Deliverance

If you want, then it sure is. It might not make too much sense, unless it is Emperor's Children successor chapter which gets great pleasure from increasingly better and exotic food. But loyalist battle cooks seem strange since Space Marines don't need much food and can eat literally anything to sustain themselves.

let's immagine a sucessor chapter of the salamanders, confronted with a world, devestated by xenos. They have to watch as the local population starves, or worse, as they try to eat the poisonous flesh of their enemies. Their apothecaries finde out, what parts of the xenos are poisonous and how to remove them, but the procedure is too complicated too intricate to be taught to humans. So the brothers take it uppon them selves to hunt and cook the xenos. With time, they find uses for the xenos's poisons. In the right dose, one improves selve healing, while an other can steady a hand and a third can improve reflexes even beond their super human speed. Once they started looking for it, they found other animals, plants and recepies, to enhance their performance. Different from other sciences and enginieering, cooking had never been claimed and curailed by the machine cult and so, they where free to innovate. Now, they carry containers of ritualitically prepared delicacies into battle. What other chapters might accomplish with a strategem, or a psycic power, the "Fire Tongues" do with food. While they might seem more domestic, than other chapters, they certainly have a taste for victory.

My current concept for a homebrew chapter is the Gutter Gunners, a successor chapter that broke off from the Imperial Fists due to conflicts of temperament among their ranks. While they share many of the battle strategies and strengths of the Fists, their personalities are more akin to the Blood Angels, being brutal, crude and unruly on the battlefield, a far cry from their stoic, disciplined brothers. Both the Gunners as well as the Blood Angels have accompanied each other on various escapades, usually suicide missions on the most inhospitable of worlds. Despite being just as big of dicks as any other space marine chapter, the bonds that the Gutter Gunners share for each other are some of the strongest in the Imperium, and would certainly be just as willing to fight or kill other members of the Imperium as they would Chaos or Xenos if it meant a fellow brother could be fought for. Much of their fighting style revolves around the famed siege battle tactics of the Imperial Fists. However, unlike the Fists who are masters of both defending as well as impregnating fortifications, the Gunner would soon rather see said fortification be blown into a crater. The Gunners revel in the bloodshed of their enemies, specifically in the art of producing as much gore and viscera as possible, hence their name, especially with bolters and artillery. As their old saying goes: "Getting in there with your fists and swords is nice, but from firing distance you get to see the whole of the canvas you’re working with. And that bolter of yours is your brush!"
