Well, several people got rejected on American Idol and made it big. Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum, Colbie Caillat auditioned with Bubbly and didn't make it, Glee stars Amber Riley and Naya Rivera

I totally agree with Ellen & JLo. Jessica is such a good one. I really thought she's good enough to get a golden ticket. Keith & the other judge should have at least gave her another chance.

If Jessica becomes big after coming to Ellen, it's gonna be embarrassing for the judges that said no. Ellen's brought so many KZread talents on her show that became big. At least Jessica won't need to be in the American Idol process anymore and she can head straight to stardom.

I was SO pissed that they didn't accept Jessica! My Mom and I were SHOCKED! I wasn't even paying attention at first, and I thought that her singing was actually background music they were playing and I saw it was her I was like WOW, and then they said no! I'm glad you feel the same way Ellen, maybe enough people were like "WHAT THE HELL" for them to realize they made a big mistake!

Yeahhhh... Ever since the original 3 judges left, AI has gone downhill for me ! I don't even watch a single episode of it anymore. It just doesn't feel the same :/

I've watched every show so far and it can be frustrating. There have been many people that they didn't put through that were great, and others they put through that were not even as good as the people they wouldn't put through.

I would listen to that girl's album any day! ): Her voice is so calming & she handled the turn down so modestly

Alex and Sierra auditioned for American idol and didn't make it because they didn't like them. Look at them now. They won x-factor

I also screamed. Keith and Harry are CRAZY!!!!! How on earth can they not give someone with an amazing voice like her the golden ticket to Hollywood?!? 😧😡

I feel like they said "no" to the second girl because of her image rather than her voice. Just my opinion.

As I posted above, I think they might have refused the second girl because she didn't hit any impressive high notes. Most of her notes were the same level so she didn't show any range. Beautiful voice though.

uhm, is there a part of the audition where keith and harry explained why they said no (except harry saying that she's not ready)? their decision is quite stupid. jen is right, they slipped the girl away from stardom.

I would say Carrie Underwood was just as famous as Kelly, but other then that, no other winners were really as popular. There were some that were contestants that made it (Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Picker, Adam Levign, Clay Akin...) but none of the WINNERS really ever did anything else.

She has a lovely voice, however, it's not mainstream. THAT'S the problem. The talent that comes out of Idol is completely manufactured. They want the voices that appeal to current mainstream trends. It sucks.

i haven't watched American Idol this year, but after seeing this clip, saying no to Jessica, i was really shocked...i don't know if the first judge is a singer, (i know he is an actor), but he needs to reconsider...Jessica was amazing...i don't think they have the right judges this season... but please Jessica, call Ellen to perform on her show...make him a believer and make him eat his mistake for letting you go...

They literally denied so many best selling stars before they became famous. Check out clevvernews they had a list of celebs that American idol denied its just ridiculous

American Idol should just be cancelled. These new judges (except for JLo) can't tell good from rubbish. I turned on the TV the other day and this show came on and one of the auditions was some club singer and he was literally nonsense and he got 3 Yeses. What a travesty.

And that's why we all have opinions. The show won't be cancelled, not anytime soon. Too many people love the idea of putting it all on the line for a chance at glory, especially people who wouldn't have a chance any other way. There are plenty of people who have been recognized, and became big stars just because they were on American Idol.

100% agree with Ellen!! I couldn't believe it. She was the first and only contestant I really liked. I would buy her music right now if she had a record deal. She was flawless. How the heck did they cut her?!?! Absolute madness. And yet they let Wonder Mike's daughter through to Hollywood even though she couldn't sing her way out of a paper bag! I guess it really is all about who you know.

It's cuz American Idol wants another Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson with their powerful voices, but not every popular artist or song is like that.

But she had her own tone. You don't NEED to hit high notes to define you as a "good singer." She has her own genre and she rocked it.

I agree with James. In fact you don't need anything to be defined as a good singer at all. Hitting high notes mean nothing as long as Ellen doesn't like them. If Ellen likes it, being average is the same as being unique

James Noah I agree with you James. She sounded good but I think the judges are looking for not just a beautiful voice but also a good range and emotion. She didn't show much range. And not enough emotion. In their opinion anyway.

My mum and I were screaming at the TV about that too!! We were like "IS THIS A JOKE?!"

We need to get her on the ellen show, She was amazing. I hope we can make that happen.

She has a naturally soft and frail voice which is really pretty, but that could help her or hurt her. She could sing soft pop or a category like that and have a really successful career, or the judges could change her like they always do and make her sing a rock, hard pop, or other type song category like that which could hurt her. But she has a really pretty and soothing voice that I would love to hear on the radio or album.
