Our local oldies radio station plays 80's and 90's. They don't still call it the oldies station, but when I was a kid in the 80's it played 50's-70's lol.

Roseanne was one of the best sitcoms ever! Simple family - with real life struggles of parenting, money issues - real life problems

OMG Those intros are just filled with nostalgia. I freakin miss the 90s.

They used to make actual shows that weren’t reality shows

You are correct. The final number of seasons added to ten or eleven in total (8 seasons originally, two seasons upon revival).

Mad About You was one of the best sitcoms.

As a Gen Z this both pissed me off and made me sad😂 cause they should be ashamed.

As someone who is 19 and knew almost all of these as well as one’s older than this(I love Lucy, I dream of genie, bewitched, etc) it’s not a generational thing most of these teens were just ditzy

@@fred1991 Friends is trash. Every single one of the main characters is an awful person, and yet the show pushes them on us and tells us we're supposed to like them. Friends literally lifted the concept from Living Single and did a worse job of it. The characters on Living Single were more fleshed out, more nuanced, and therefore more interesting.

Probably more how oversaturated the TV market is. When I was a kid (in the 90s) we had 4 channels and one of them was PBS. Some rich kids had cable. Of course we knew all the shows. There were only 12 of them. Compared to today, I couldn't even begin to name all the channels and streaming sources let alone the individual shows available on them.

More due to kids not watching TV via cable but streaming instead. When we were growing up, syndicated shows were all over the place so we had so much access to it. Now with even some of the shows being on some streaming platforms, you have to go out of the way to watch them.

Growing up these shows were my favorite! Most came on WB, ABC, FOX and more! A little Easter egg, Living Single was a hit but was replaced by Friends which was a rip off 😂 Martin was the best sitcom EVER! I recommend they watch it cuz of how silly it was

The disappointment looking at this video made me sick to my stomach

They keep talking about Friends but when Mad About You comes up they did not know Phoebe's twin sister Ursula was from the show and there was a cross over episode with the main characters where they mistake Phoebe for Ursula.

i had more knowledge about things when i was 4 than most teens do today. BTW i am 49 now.

I loved the first couple of seasons of Mad About You. I was in my 20's when these aired, and I thought that would be what my 30's would be like.

I was in my teens during the 90's so I remember most of these. I saw most of them on TV but there were a few that never aired here in Australia (like Martin) #feelingold

There's a whole wide world of quality television out there and it doesn't include Friends.

Somebody needed to tell them how Friends is an off brand shoot of Living Single!! The creators decided to make the SAME SHOW with a white cast, but put more funding more promotions and paid the actors more.

Also, Jessie came to the city to become an actress; the nanny job was intended to be temporary at first. Fran worked in a bridal shop and was fired-it’s even in the theme song.

While it’s very easy to make fun of these kids not knowing the shows, we do have to remember that most kids today don’t watch TV on cable so they don’t have access to syndicated TV as much as we did (mid millennial here). I remember watching shows from the 80s and 90s during the day when it was summer and syndicated shows were on all the channels. Also Nick at Nite had all the old school schools like Happy Days, laverne and Shirley, I love Lucy, etc. With now streaming and all the programming out today, you’d have to deliberately go out of the way to watch these shows vs having them on in the background. Def makes a difference

While that does make a difference, it's still not a sign of a generational issue when you consider that their parents would've watched reruns of these shows when they were growing up (especially when streaming still wasn't so prominent yet). Even now, at 40 years old, my 60 y/o mother puts on reruns of stuff like MASH, and I find myself watching it with her more often than I even did growing up. Every single one of these shows STILL remains a major part of pop culture, so there is something else at play here with these teens.
