If you boil the eggs too long there is some reaction that turns the yolks greenish. If you cook them just the right amount of time, the yolk comes out bright light yellow (for hard boiled eggs).

@@rudeskalamanderThe color of eggs is purely based on the breed of chicken. The type of chickens typically used in the US are Leghorn chickens, which lay white eggs. They typically produce more eggs, their eggs are larger, and they are easier to crack without pieces of the shell breaking off, which is why they are the preferred breed for egg production in the US. As a hobby, my father raised probably a few thousand chickens throughout the years, with some 30+ varieties of different chicken breeds. We always had unique colors and sizes of eggs. White, brown, tan, blue, green, teal, and every shade in between. He passed away, but my mom still has about 60 of his chickens right now.

Fun fact: Many “As Seen on TV” gadgets are extremely helpful for elderly and disabled people, but selling gadgets exclusively for them is apparently not feasible, so they pretend it’s for everyone, and that’s why the infomertial actors are seemingly so clumsy and incompetent.

Yeah, I realized that when I saw a lot of ASOTV products that looked very similar or identical to items in a medical catalog we had in the house while taking care of some sick relatives. It makes sense but with some of them, they ARE incredibly helpful even if you are not sick. If they're well produced, of course. One thing about cheap knockoffs is that they're, well, cheap.

the Bogeyman tool might work better if you give each egg a quick vigorous shake before cracking it. Not enough to scramble the yolk, but enough to tear the fine strands of white protein that anchor the yolk to the white so the yolk floats free. It's also a good idea to do this before cracking an egg into a frying pan as it means the yolk won't pull to one side and you'll get your yolk right in the middle of your egg white disc.

Wow - that egg cuber gadget has been around awhile. I remember my father bought it in either the late 70s or early 80s, and I actually gave it a try. If I recall the instructions, I think you had to leave it in the refrigerator for awhile (overnight maybe?) so that the cube would properly set. The fresher the egg, the harder to peel. The skin sticks to the inside, so actually you had just some very fresh eggs 🤩 Same with the egg whites, older the egg, the runnier the egg white.

That was a fun little vid. Thanks for that! Probably the most useful gadget in that video was the egg-cracker thingie. My wife got that for me, a couple of years ago and I had similar results. Yeah, it cracks eggs for you, but the most impressive feature was its ability to separate the yolk, which it actually accomplishes really well!

Those were interesting. The one that scrambled the egg before hard boiling it I thought was interesting as well. I would make interesting 'deviled eggs' . I think the most practical item was the penguin egg holder. As an aside I've never seen someone put eggs into boiling water like that. I was always told they would crack open. Had you brought yours to room temp? .....Thanks Dave.

First time I try out to make square eggs was after reading the story Lost in the Andes in Donald as a kid. The story was about some mythical chickens that lay square eggs. The publisher of the comic always put a toy as a gift for the kids and the toy that was given with the comic was a plastic unit to make round eggs into square eggs. That toy was so funny so I kept it and still got it and now after seen your video I want to make square eggs again.

The egg cuber seems weird until you realize the reason people cube food like that is because it stores more efficiently. If you have need to store many hard boiled eggs with a limited amount of space, cubing them actually works better than trying to store them normally
