Why would you have to set aside the Pebble? They still work great.

I have my pebble time, and I love it. The frequency of the notifications depends upon you, I just have whatsapp and email notification on and that's works fine. The best feature is the vibration alarm and weather update as I live in Dublin. I don't use fitness tracking feature but I like the timeline from pebble. Pebble was the best

I flashed Android Wear 2 on my G Watch and I am loving it. I love the idea of not having to check my phone for messages and calls, especially with my Nexus 5X which has awful battery life on its own. Sure, you have to charge it but for me I always (when I'm not wearing it) have it set down on a dock.

I'm not a smartwatch guy, I prefer my automatic as I don't get flooded with notifications on my wrist, and I find most of the apps are something it wouldn't be inconvenient to take my phone out to use anyway. That said, this is an interesting and clever take on what a smartwatch means, that dial shift is a pretty elegant method and although it's not perfect, I admire the concept they put out. Well done Skagen.

I think they still matter. Sometimes at work I'm not able to constantly pull out my phone and look at notifications etc. The smart watch to me is like a high functioning stylish pager and I'm fine with that. I use my smart watch to change channels on my smart tv and change songs on my Bluetooth speakers. It's a nice little gadget to have for me.

Universal Remote... It works with some internet connected devices and you can control netflix or other stuff. People that say the apps are useless and you can't do anything with it just plain trash talk for jealousy or didn't search enough to find tasker or Universal Remote

JV, I miss my pebble too. As much as I wanted it to be fancier to wear I've tried the Gear S3, Gear S2, looked at others but the size and serious lack of functional battery life,l water resistance, and app environments makes me pine for my pebble. I even tried restarting and reconnecting my pebble time steel to my phone running the Android O beta and found that no apps will load back on to my steel. All I want is an app with multi timers and a reasonable way to dismiss notifications or use a quick reply message. Love the feel and look of the Withings/Nokia Steel HR but there's no actual functions besides the fitness tracking for a workout timer for example or a quick auto reply. :(

Is there a way to disconnect the watch from my phone without removing entirely? I switch between gear, android wear, pebble before adding this watch to the collection. I'm able to disconnect any of the gears, pebbles and android wear watches but haven't found a way to do that with this watch. Any ideas?

I think this could be ideal with some improvements, such as IFTTT support. This would allow better customization and really expand it's usage. You could use the sleep tracking to un-mute your phone when you wake up, you could program the buttons to turn your lights on an off many more possibilities. I do think they need a better way to handle notifications, I like the non intrusive nature that the dials provide but it's a little too vague. A small back-lit display that could shine through like a one mirror would be ideal, that way it could display a few words pertaining to the type of notification and at the same time keep the classic watch look. I've wanted to get a smart watch but none so far have been quite what I'm looking for, but I think this is a step in the right direction. I think some improvements that make it a little more smart would be nice, but I think this is a great direction for smart watches to go.

I actually just upgraded from a Pebble Time to a Pebble 2 about two weeks ago. I still liked my Time, but it was getting a bit worn out. I did my research, and couldn't find anything out there in the sub-$100 price range that I liked and that was waterproof, so I went with the Pebble 2. I'm really hoping that it will continue to function, even if I lose everything but notifications and music control I'd be OK with it.

I need to see what the notification is on my watch, so I can determine if it's important or not. And possibly also dismiss if needed. Which is why I still stuck to my Gear S2. When something comes out with a bit more classic look, longer battery life and "good enough" smart functions, I'll make the switch.

I'm still rocking the pebble because I love the design philosophy. first a very good watch, but with more. what do I use it for? changing music or using navigation while I'm on my motorcycle, seeing texts while I'm at work- as phones are forbidden, checking the weather at a glance, and don't even get me started on pebble tasker

My Moto 360 is still seeing daily use. I work in the server field and it's incredibly useful for making sure I don't miss any notifications from clients or servers themselves regarding potential issues or emergencies; that, and enabling me to pick up a call if my phone is in the other room instead of missing the call completely.

I got the original Pebble 2 years ago. Then, last year I backed the Pebble Time 2 and the Core because I started to go running more often and I upgraded my phone to a bigger and heavier one. Since pebble messed up, I was checking for alternatives and I tried some different Fitbit models. I liked the functionality of the Fitbit Surge, but the design was really ugly. Now I have the Garmin Fenix 3 HR and I love it. It's less smart than a Tizen or Android Wear smartwatch, because you cannot reply to notifications, but it has a full-color always on display, it lasts for more than a week and it has GPS and HR, which are my main features of a watch for doing sports.

Totally agree with this video! I've had a Pebble steel, Charge HR, Apple Watch, Fitbit Alta, Fitbit Charge 2, and now the Fitbit Blaze. I found it frustrating having the Apple Watch because it would cause an extra step when I got a notification: check my watch and then pull out my phone. It would have been far easier to just pull out my phone in the first place. I now wear a Fitbit Blaze but I've disabled all notifications except phone calls. My life is much better lol. I'm thinking about getting the Steel HR now

I use a xiaomi mi band 2 and its absolutely great. Extremely durable (I've accidentally ran it through my washing machine three times!), and simple. It counts steps and tracks fitness fine. And it can integrate with apps on my phone for added functionality. I have mine set up to track my sleep and vibrate as an alarm, and to display whatsapp and text messages from certain people only. And that's about it, that's all it can do, and it's better that way.

I use my Fossil Q Explorist MOSTLY for a nice watch with hidden features and for things where getting my phone out of my pocket is annoying, such as on a crowded bus or in cold weather. In fact, especially with the analog face, I've had people tell me they just thought it was a regular watch until I did something with it. Of course, it IS nice to not have to take your phone out of your pocket just to see if a notification is actually urgent

I wasn't planning on getting a smart watch. I was always on the fence about the idea; mostly worried that it would be one more piece of tech I'd have to charge every day and replace every year or two. The advent of the hybrid changed my mind.

I'm using one too. I have the Xiaomi Smartband 2 and it seems that it's going to be irreplaceable for a long time. Mine has a 3-week battery life, waterproof, heart rate sensor and speedometer. And other than telling the date and time everything else is just a waste of battery

started with the original pebble, loved it but was basic which is probably why it was so great. got the moto 360 and was unimpressed. went to gears s2 and now gear s3 frontier which is great. i recently bought a watch subscription thing and love the light feel of a traditional watch so i might stick with it and use the s3 for fitness and active stuff. options are always good.
