I absolutely dispise short corners. The amount of times it ends up back at the keep is criminal.

What you didn't cover was Of all the long cross (and short cross) attempts taken, how many lead to a turnover and opposition goal within the next, say, 3 minutes 🙂

Did anyone notice how much spurs were playing for corners and high throw ins. I've not seen anything like it in years. They messed about with it at the back for minutes at a time until there was a gap down either wing. When wingers got the ball, they seemed to be trying to win a corner almost above putting a cross in.

If you are taking a short corner leave the centre backs on the halfway line in their shape. Seems pointless them going up if they are trying to play and walk the ball into the net rather than cross.

The important piece of information that you overlooked here is that, 95% of the time teams take a short corner, they try to manufacture a cross anyway, so it is a complete waste of time.

cant see why teams play a first ball short and then cross it in short corners to feet i understand

Long corners provide that much longer for the defence to react Short corners have less air time and additionally require less skill to execute Eg; Beckham and Juninho skills are very rare But short corners allow less skilled players to still be dangerous 🙂

They work for United cos hardly any of the players can head a ball. McTominay proved that yesterday and Rashford is worse.

My problem with short corners is 9/10 they will shoot seconds after / cross straight away & goes out for a GK.. The amount of times you see it & think you’ve just wasted the CB’s time running up for nothing is astonishing.

Not the best overlap content

Corners being dangerous is an English myth just like the PL being competitive.
