Hoping you can help! I don’t live close to a uni that offers radiography and am not in a position to move. UOW offers a graduate cert in Radiography which can be done online. If I do that and a BSc will I be qualified to be an MRI tech?

I don't think a certificate is sufficient for radiographer registration. Technically speaking, after studying for a Master degree in MRI, you have a 'qualification' of an MRI tech, but it doesn't mean you are a qualified MRI tech. I believe all of the MRI courses DO NOT provide you with MRI training experience. Unless you can find a clinic or hospital which is willing to employ you as an MRI trainee, your MRI qualification is only 'on paper'. Most of the MRI courses students are radiographers who are currently receiving training in an MRI department, so they are doing the course as an academic component. I hope it makes sense to you, otherwise, you may be studying courses without any job prosepects.

hello im currently looking into becoming a radiographer. the only programs in my area is the x-ray tech school, is it a waste of time to go to x-ray school then go for my radiation therapy afterwards?? thank you you videos are awesome and very helpful.

it is a waste of time to study radiography as a pathway to become a radiation therapist- they are totally different professionals and you study different subjects in schools.

Sonographers generally get the higher hourly rate. But next time I will explain how modalities are different and which one may be more suitable for some people :) Money is a big motive of choosing your specialty, but there are other important factors...

Sonographers can clinically diagnose patients where as radiographers cannot. similar to a radiologist hence the more pay

Hello Sally. I'm considering to study radiography but I have a few questions I hope you can help me out :) When I searched on SEEK I couldn't find much job openings (I'm based in Sydney). What do you think of the job outlook is there an oversupply of graduates in this field..? And for you to progress to being a MRI technologist, what other further training did you get and at what point you received that upskilling? Thank you!

It's not a simple yes or no. What other academic qualification do you have? Are you specialised in any modalities? Do you have any clinical experience? What is your English language level? It depend on lots of different factors

There is no bsc radiology(this is a medicine course for doctors), I think you meant radiography. I think they are the same thing, sometimes the bsc is called 'medical imaging and radiography. Read the course structure to double-check though.

Compared to nurses does A CT or MRI radiographer get at least a closer salary or its a low rate compared to nurses?

It depends if you are working in a hospital or in a private clinic. If you do shift work, you earn a similar wage to a nurse who also does shift work.

After 12? As I mentioned in the video, the starting salary is around 60k MRI is part of medical imaging but you need to get further training /studying after you are qualified as a radiographer. radiography vs agricultural? I can't tell you sorry

No. Howecer, i know in the UK some radiographers are trained to perform PICC insertions.

Yes and no. Most of the sonographers are radiographers at the start. However, there is a pathway to become a sonographer without studying radiography. See my other video about sonographer.

Master of sonography is probably your best choice. You may get a high educational allowance ($200 fortnightly) included in your pay.

1. You need to study a master degree of Ultrasound in Australia 2. It is very challenging for a radiographer to open a clinic on his own. You need to hire or partner with a Radiologist to report all the examinations. Also, there is a lot of regulations on radiation and medical procedure which you need to follow. I don't know if it is a financially ludicrous business if you only have one clinic All the very best! All the best!
