What I’ve learned from all the MTG books, when Teferi says “relax,” then relax 🤷‍♂️ Sure stuff will probably get weird, but it’s okay 🍷

Its always nice to see the Gatewatch together. Chandra, Nissa, Teferi, and Professor.

This is EXACTLY how I imagined Teferi to be in real life. Tough but cordial. Powerful but fair. Killing you with a smile and handshakes thereafter.

I mean, attacking the Battle means those creatures aren't attacking the player. Prof is unlikely to actually be affected by this sequence. except emotionally, but that's just him being irrational lol

My guess is Prof forgot and maybe thought that as the player defending the battle receives combat damage the battle loses counters? Either that, or he's scarred from the curses he got from that one episode of SU&P.😂

Prof is a content creator I have to give the benefit of the doubt to here. Odds are, he's overreacting for good TV. Maybe he's getting too caught up in it, but fools make for fun viewing.

I love how there are three classic MTG planeswalkers at this table in full regalia, and then there's the Prof.

What a phenomenal rendition of Teferi! Kudos!

A few things: Always give the battle to either whoever wants you to have what you want or whoever has no blockers. Being the defender of a battle tends to be way more useful than detrimental since it's basically directing damage away from you. Finally, it's never smart to give someone a battle if you have the intention to harm them. They are 100% not gonna help you transform the battle. This play was entirely the right play.

Teferi always just pissing people off.

So just to clarify for anyone, that doesn’t quite understand when someone has a battle on their board state it means that they have to block and try to keep their enemy opponent from destroying all the counters on that battle, if they succeeded in attacking the battle and reducing the battles toughness to zero a certain effect will then go into play in which case this is you know Invasion of new phyrexia but the only reason tiferi is choosing to give professor. The battle card is because he knows that he is the only person on that table that is not able to prevent him from destroying that battle. Ergo, after he achieves the effect, he will use that set effect in someway to help him defeat Chandra

There’s no downside to defending the battle, this reaction makes no sense

I always give Battles to the player i have the best relationship with at the table. They are more likely to let me through and them having the battle makes me A) protect them from losing the game and B) incentivizes me to attack the battle instead of them. I mean if I have a safe attack against them and they have my battle I really am better off attacking that instead of the player. Im the grand scheme of things flipping the battle is more valuable than making the player lose 6 life.

Prof, you might be defending their battle, but it isn't yours to lose. Attacking a battle is NOT the same as attacking you.
