    I've struggled with acne ever since my last couple years of high school, and I'm a terrible picker/scratcher. Don't know if it's a compulsion disorder or just a really bad habit, but I have very little control over the urge to pick which just makes the problem worse. Pimple patches have been a GODSEND for me! Most acne products I use, if they work, just prevent new pimples from forming, but they don't help at all with those I've already breeched that are trying to heal. Patches have helped so much in both prevention AND healing, and I'm so glad the science behind them is sound and I'm not using anything that will turn out to be harmful long-term. Thank you for this video! I've been very curious to know what's in most patches and how they work their magic. You explanation and advice was quick, to the point, and easy to understand. Thank you!

    I cann't even begin to explain how much I wish I discovered pimple patches like five years earlier... I have struggeled A LOT with pimples, especially those 'underground' ones and I could never just let them rest. I kept on popping and scratching until there was an open wound and now I have scars all over my face :((

    Honestly I can’t believe these have existed for so long! These probably would have helped me avoid scarring if I knew about them in high school. Personally I use the hero patches. Today I noticed HUGE zit, I popped a patch on, and in a few hours it was gone. The biggest downside is that I run through these quick. It gets pretty expensive.

    I have PCOS and I get flare-ups. Decades of acne has resulted in discolouration and minor scarring. I never picked. It's just wear and tear of years of acne. I use these to help with itching.

    Hi Dr. Gohara: I agree with what you said about keeping your hands off pimples and breakouts. I don't think ANYONE should ever squeeze or manually touch these things, treat this with patches or medication! I never picked at my skin as a teen-ager and I have no scars, and almost poreless skin now!

    Poreless has nothing to do with acne. Usually acne is to do with hormones. You could have acne and have very small pores or have no acne and have big pores. Scarring is a result of acne picking but also serverity. I never picked but have minor scarring around jaw thanks to decades of acne along there. I've PCOS and it's an ongoing issue. Each outbreak damages skin picked or not. But not picking definitely prevents a lot of scaring.

    not necessarily, it depends of what is causing your pimple. If the reason your skin is breaking out is not found and removed you will still get pimples but these really help not make it worse by picking on it.

  • @holliemichailidis2951

    @holliemichailidis2951

    Short answer yes they will return. You need to know root cause. Hormonal, environmental (such as dirty pillow cases, hands touching face constantly etc), diet can (so will need to find that out), endocrine disorders/medications and even using wrong skin care products. I never had acne as a teen but around 23-24 years old I developed adult acne due to P.C.O.S. unfortunately there hasn't been a fix beside no sugar or gluten (I am also unfortunately gluten intolerant). I still get flare-ups. So if you're a teen it could be puberty. I'd suggest if possible see a dermatologist.

    I believe it's just for managing that one pimple. I doubt it will stop long term chronic acne. The bacteria will just continue to replicate as they feed off the sebum and become trapped within shed keratinocytes. Your dermatologist will help you eradicate it by attacking from the oiliness, infection and keratin build up angles
