Do Not Grieve the Holy Spirit of God (Archived)

www.truthforlife.org - The indwelling of the Holy Spirit indicates that a person has been sealed, forgiven, and redeemed in Christ, and because of this great work, Christians should not grieve the Holy Spirit. Alistair Begg emphasizes the importance of forsaking unrighteousness and, instead, emulating Christ in His kindness and forgiveness. Because Christ saved us from sin to do good works, the Christian Church should to be overflowing with kindness toward each another and toward the world.

I am certain I grieved the Holy Spirit with my inappropriate words before the court process I had and that is why, though I was told all would be cleared by legal persons, I paid for my words dearly and all went south instead. It was as if all words I ever said I paid for in this unearthly process. Accountability, personal responsibility and putting Christ first are imperative. 😔🙏🏻

Oh brother Paul, I feel for you. I’d like you to ask yourself a very serious question: Is it possible for a Christian to not only endure but even to find joy in all tribulation? I believe scripture teaches it is possible and one might even say it is expected. So the next question is: how? How can these feelings of anger and bitterness be changed? The answer to this question is simple, only God can change a man’s nature, his heart. Only God can give you a new outlook, a new way of responding to tribulation. So we cry out, Lord change my nature, not simply for my own comfort that I may endure this tribulation but, in all things that I may be a better servant, that I may be a better ambassador. Try changing the emphasis of your prayers away from what God can do for you and yours, to what you can do to be a better servant. That your nature may be changed no matter the cost, not for your own comfort or prosperity but that you may be of use to him.

Jesus called the Holy Spirit the Spirit of Truth in *John **14:17** Even the Spirit of truth [...]* John 14:15 *If ye love me, keep my commandments.* John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and *he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;* John 14:17 *Even the Spirit of truth;* whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Long before Jesus used the term "truth" for the Holy Spirit, the book of Psalms used the term "truth" for the law & commandments (thy law is truth; thy commandments are truth): Psalms 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and *thy law is the truth.* Psalms 119:151 Thou art near, O LORD; and all *thy commandments are truth.* Later the book of 1st John uses the word truth; 1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that *we know him, if we keep his commandments.* 1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and *the truth* is not in him. (1 John 2:4 [...] and the truth is not in him. As in [...] and the [spirit] of truth is not in him.) OR (1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the [spirit of God's commandments] is not in him.) The Holy Spirit is the spirit of God's law/spirit of God's commandments.

A question was asked of me and though I answered I don’t know that’s where I should have ended it not add yes I saw that and I also know this other fact. Knowing the person who was questioning never proved any evidence of being a born again Christian.. God forgive me. I don’t go out much and here I was tested. All day I feel heavy conviction. Lord please forgive me. Thank you for the cross ❤ I do not want to stay in the mud. I want to repent and run from ever doing such a mistake. I love this man for his truth, but as much as he lifts me up, his preaching cuts so deep that I feel he can not relate to my particular position. To be concise, I am involved in combat consistently. Currently Serving as a defensive tactics instructor, a policeman, and hospital/ private security specialist. My atmosphere and environment are dark to say the least...Surrounded by death, danger & absolute filth; I use coping skills to get through dark times... specifically a dark sense of humor. There are more men that feel burdened like myself in the same way... I feel like King David in the new testament. An obsolete relic and an anachronism for how the new testament Christian is instead told how to carry themselves. I guarantee that we must battle "Physical forces" as much as the spiritual ones. There are many warriors that serve God and his people without the affirmation that they need during this tough time. Please encourage and pray that your warriors keep training in their combative skill. To keep nurturing the "Lion" part of Gods nature. Not all of Gods children are sheep.

Thank you for sharing this; I can't imagine what you are having to go through on a constant basis, I would not be able to do it if not for the Holy Spirit. We are encouraged to pray for all in authority positions that we may lead a peaceable life in godliness & holiness; so if we're slacking in our "prayer lives" we're really slacking! We can't possibly expect to win if we are slacking in our "pray without ceasing" services. It is amazing how the Holy Spirit works to calm our spirits the more we draw closer to God every chance we get. Be honest with God, He already knows what's in each of our hearts but when we confess our sin/s to Him & others for the sake of getting rid of them & receiving the power to stop them & leave them behind, for good, God does step in and does exactly that! Confessing our sins is huge progress to getting them removed by God's power. Another thing we must know, believe, understand & remember is to "take every *thought captive to the obedience of Jesus Christ"; this is in the Bible & takes *practice, and practice does make better. Remember, for every victory we're "resisting the devil" so he eventually leaves us alone in those areas we gain the victory. Having others pray for us is another powerful help & is why it is so important that we are doing it for others as well as speaking up & asking others to pray for us & being *specific. If we want victory over our sins we *must be knowing what's recorded in God's Word and be *practicing the instructions given to us in it; otherwise, we will be miserably defeated. Know, too, we cannot* do these godly things without* God; so *salvation is first & foremost, after that is *obedience to God's instructions given to us in His Word and we all need our *godly family members working with us & for us as we work with & for them. No one stands alone! We're all members & need each other; so find a Church body to unite with & do not neglect meeting with them every chance you get. If you have a difficult time finding a Church body to do this with ask God, He will *not lead you wrong. What kind of a Father would He be if His children asked for a fish and He instead gave a snake? God is *not evil and He gives to those who ask & seek. God bless you in Lord Jesus Christ's name & with all the helps of Holy Spirit, to His glory.

Hello. My interpretation from his sermon and studying the bible is this. Paul says no to destructive talking because who does it benefit? Nobody at all. Destructive talk is negative, and does everything in bringing someone down. Especially those without the Holy Spirit. Corruptive talking can still take place. People may mean the right thing, yet say it at the wrong time. This can be corruptive. It should be fitting to the occasion, and in this way it can be uplifting and give glory to God. The tongue is wicked, while the bible says that the heart is desperately so.

I believe he misspoke. I have noticed that in other talks. With any understanding of Scripture and Holy Spirit indwelling we will be led to seek the truth if we don't already know it. This is another great reason to never go by the words of any man but rather check everything with Scripture, as A. Begg himself has often counseled! Thank you for bringing it up though.
