My very 1st commission piece was 24 x 36 and I was SO freaked out and nervous!! And... I've purchased 3 more because I loved it SO much!! I am space challenged so I had to lay plastic down to cover my floor and was on hands and knees 🤣😂. My back hated me but the piece was a total hit!! He even bought the smaller one I did to test the colors to make sure he'd like them!! 🥰

I absolutely love this. Thank you for sharing this video, I recently bought some bigger canvases, largest canvas I've done so far is 8x10, also some 12x12 tiles. I also bought some larger screw hooks (cup hooks) instead of the jumbo push pins, I find it easier to get my canvas level

They are definitely easier to level with if you have to make anything more than tiny adjustments.

Sooooo awesome. Thanks for explaining it more about the tightness of the canvas. I made one last night on the 16 x 20 and sure enough the paint puddled and you can see the paint I painted around the edge. I also didn’t know about mixing glue with the paint. Rookie mistakes. Great work! A good way to recycle paint is to scoop it up and plop it back on the canvas that you still need to cover or stretch without having to add more paint or leave it on the canvas for a unique design.

great teaching and outcome! I love that you pointed us to watch the arrow center, normally during pour, especially my own, I get hyped up and all of a sudden it's done almost in emergency mode because I am a newbie. When I watch pours I get carried into some altered state and then I say What just happened? So this arrow idea is very good, I went back to it and watched again, it's more deliberate and I love how exacting you seem to know what you are doing. Thanx as always for aesthetics and instructions.

Thanks Barbara. I do try to point out the things that were interesting to me during the pour. One time I need to do a voice over a week after pouring just so I can point out all the other interesting things I thought of after the video was done and edited.

Great result as usual. I am still working on smaller canvases and have been nervous of doing something so large (especially as I am nowhere near your height) but you may just have given me the boost I need. Thank you.

It was a little nerve wracking for sure. All large paintings are for me. But I love doing them so much. It is a whole different experience than the smaller ones.

I myself, don't like using the level 3 gallery wrapped canvases. I prefer the level 2 and use level 2 for commissions, but I use level 1's, for everything else. I've never had any complaints and actually have been told they prefer them because they are easier and cheaper to frame. I guess it's just preference.

Absolutely. I do like the depth of the level 3 but I use one and 2 and sometimes put floating frames on to make them look a little more refined. Thanks for commenting Christi.

Great tip on the canvas stretch. I recently had to scrape a pour because the canvas dipped.

I've been given a monster sized 36" x 72" canvas to do and it's kinda freaking me out! So glad to see others going big! Biggest I've done so far is 2 30" x 30", one open cup and the other a scaled up boilermaker pour (which I am in love with). Still nervous about the monster canvas as it's bigger than I am tall! 😂

It's hard to film like some of the other artist cause my body is so far above the table.

If you reuse your cups - I have found if you spray them lightly with water (or a water/glycerin mixture, the glycerin keeps the paint wet a little longer) before pouring your paints in them, it makes cleaning them out a lot easier!

I have heard that before but I haven't tried it yet. I have sprayed WD40 in first and that did help cleaning later as most of the paint came out.

A light heating with a hair dryer or heat gun helps it come off better.

Congratulations ! What a beautiful piece of art, your client will be thrilled I’m sure. Now onto my question. Once you have poured your circle of paint on your canvas, how does one keep it a circle? I haven’t seen anyone do it that I recall. The composition always ends up as different styles of wonky (although very attractive.) I tend to be drawn to symmetrical art and display, I would really like a circle of different colours on my canvas after tilting and torching.

The tilting will get rid of the circle no mater what. Spinning instead of tilting is the easiest way to keep the middle and have all the paint move outwards at a similar rate.

I usually leave them to dry completely before I throw them away so I always have a few on my desk. Some of those were my tests too.

I did a 48 x 48, it took awhile,,but it came out amazing.

I just got a another commission for a big on like that. My table and LoliVefe mat isn't big enough for that so I'll have to do an outdoor or garage pour when things heat back up.

None. Metallic paint in a straight pour creates cells on it's own. Gina Deluca is a master at this.

I actually prefer working on large canvases. Much more freedom and workability for me. I get to play more lol

Do you sell yours? I don't do large that often unless they are purchased in advanced or I am doing a test. Space is already an issue just with my small ones piling up.

Yes I do sell mine! Most of them are commissions. The only two I still have aren't commissions lol. I do have issues with space and I can't do large ones in the winter because my studio is in the garage and it's unfinished. I'm actually more nervous about smaller paintings because less surface area to "play" and tweek/adjust...

I only do large canvases now. I don’t have much time so if I’m going to do something I want it to be worth the time

Neither. The metallic teal craft paint (similar to extreme sheen 24 carat gold) creates cells by itself. Plus the paint was very thin so you get natural cell creation with the Floetrol.

Nope. Thin paints with a single metallic color almost always gives cells. Gina DeLuca has some great videos on that.

No silicone at all. Just the metallic paint, floetrol, and thing paint with is a recipe for this type of cells.

Do you keep drippy looking sides or do you mask them with touch ups? What do you prefer?

No. Straight pour with different varying weights of paints cause this. Also the metallic paints are natural organic cell activators.

I have a question for you that's not really related to this, well it kind of is. I am doing a larger canvas and I pour on my kitchen table. Normally I can leave it there to dry. But I live in a log house that is totally heated with a wood fire. So we don't have a fire at night and the temp drops to about 15 C. at night is that ok a temp for my paint? Or is high heat just a factor in drying? I live in Canada by the way. Sorry forgot to tell you how gorgeous your painting was!!!

That is cutting it close for how cold you want your painting to get. 60' F or 15.5' C is normally what I recommend and what shows on most acrylic and latex paint cans Joey. Honestly, you should be ok if it is above 15' but test with some smaller canvases just in case. Thanks for the sweet compliment. I really loved doing these large paintings.

Nice work, love the calming colours. I find the problem with large canvases is that they take over the pouring area for at least a week to dry before they can be moved. I do enjoy them and have a couple of 36x48 that I want to do. Thx for the boost of confidence. I do find the weight and my 5’2 is a little harder to reach without getting half my torso in the paint. Enjoy your education lessons 😊

Red solo cups are 16 ounces. I use 12 ounce, 5 ounce, and 3 ounce cups too. Usually they tell you the ounces or liters on the bottom of the cup.

@@LeftBrainedArtist While you are here do you have a way to minimize mud when black and white paint clashes? I don't care if they turn grey, but I hate the silky film of white tint over black or black shade over white.

If you need 3 total ounces of mixed paint you'd do 1 part (1 ounce) of paint and 2 parts (2 ounces) of medium for a total of 3 ounces of mixed paint. If you needed 6 ounces of paint you'd do 1 part of paint (2 ounces) and two parts of pouring medium (4 ounces). To make it easier you can also take the "1" part measure out an amount. Says 1.5 ounces. Then if you need 2 parts of medium you'd just multiply 1.5 X 2 to get your 3 ounces of medium. 1:2 paint to medium would be 1.5oz paint : 3 oz medium. That is actually a great idea for a calculator. I'll have to set that up on my website soon.

It's not the cost of the products so much for me . It's more about a bad result and having to scrape and try again. The cost of the second try is what hurts and puts the fear in most new artist's. My first 16x20 was scary, now I only do 16x20. I have three 24x36 and a 30x40 to attempt. They are only level one canvas but it a start. When I can make space for that big of a canvas.

Space is a huge factor for sure. My table is made from a 4' x 8' plank but my silicone matt is much smaller than that unfortunately. Thanks for responding Scott.

Hi I just watched your video where you did an experiment on the 3 different levels of artist's loft. And the cheap one won! Very good video. But I would just like to say in defence of the expensive one, that it shouldn't be used for acrylic pouring. It's for normal painting. If you're putting floetrol or glue into paints then you really shouldn't use the expensive stuff. Ps I find your videos really helpful although I hate the measuring. I prefer to do it by eye

Doing it by eye when you have the feel is great. A lot of the people, myself included, when we start out can't get the same consistency over and over again which is why I recommend newbies measure everything until they are comfortable. You are right about the heavy body paints. There are some colors that I really like that aren't made in the cheaper alternatives though so it's nice to know how they work with pouring too. Thanks Martina. I always love hearing when people do things differently or don't completely agree. Those are the best learning conversations.

Sorry, I have a weird fascination with tall people. I'm short, my ex husband isn't taller than average and our son is 6-4, daughter is 5-10

HOLD UP! 6'8" !?! I happrn to be a boxing fan & i mist say; "The Motor City Cobra" (Tommy Hearns) was only 6'1" with a 78" wing span! (for non fans, that's a boxers "reach," measured arms out, fingertip L to fingertip R.) I've always had the feel that youre a hockey guy. In that way you assume things of people from minimal info. But now I HAVE TO ASK! What is/was your sport? 6'8" makes a DEVASTATING opponent in almost ANY sport! Except maybe figure skating. Idk tho...🤷‍♀️ Back to the video. Those white cells are beautifully coming to life. And the green, that I expected to be overwhelming is quite stunning! Im all about a nice monocrome.😁~yvette.

Basketball. I was never coordinated enough for volleyball and I weight 160 in high school. My nickname was "skeletor". Now I am old and slow but people still underestimate how much court I can chew up in a little amount of time.

I’m so left brained that I’m making a shaped template to do a triptych with each being 24 by 36 inches.
