@@orges_x8652 Wouldn't go that far, but it was surprisingly good. The original Blade Runner did leave itself open for a sequel, though, given the ending alluding to Deckard being a replicant. Gladiator, however, does not.

the problem is not the sequel but the director he is fucking up his own old job, in any franchise, i really don't get it how is possible that this man still get paid to direct ... who is giving to him the money? Napoleon was a disaster, Alien Covenant the same The Consoler and the list going on ...

I was in film history at the University of Texas when it came out. We had an assignment to go see a current film at a theatre, write a paper on it, and turn the essay in with the ticket stub attached to the paper. The instructor wanted to make sure we were getting the full cinematic experience. I picked this film. Freaking great choice. I'll never forget it.

He could have easily been cast as a character in this movie - even if it was just a small cameo etc. He doesn't NEED to be the same character. Many film sequels have done this, or reboots where the old character plays a different role in the remake.

If these films were of the same quality he once made then yes, that should be applauded. Unfortunately, I learned that Scott doesn't care as much as he should. Historical accuracy be damned. With the many liberties taken you should at least try but that requires time, patience and more work.

I remember when Gladiator came out at the theater. I was dying to see it and took off from work to see it in the afternoon. Lots of people there. Still love it today. I wish Ridley Scott would have just made another Roman epic, late Roman era perhaps with the Goths or Huns, and just let Gladiator stand alone as the masterpiece it is in movie history.

Admitting jealousness is probably one of the hardest things anyone let alone an actor can do. Pride is a major aspect that grips actors so admiring it is a sign of a humble guy

it's not that hard given these circumstances. His character is dead, and there is no reason to bring him back other than cheap fanservice. And I rate Scott and Crowe higher than that. Saying he's jealous of not being involved in this project is no skin off his back, but may go a long way creating buzz around this production. Seems like a very normal thing to do actually.

That is actually a good idea. I also thought a prequel about a young Maximus rising to be a revered general and show the backstory of him and Lucilla would be a good prequel, but a story about Proximos would also be kick ass. Can’t see how a sequel will work at all. The end of Gladiator really feels like an end to the story.

Met him once when I was working at a Hungry Jack's a few years back, he came in and my high ass was thinking "that guy looks like russel crowe", and everyone at work was like oh shit thats rusty and I was like oh shit it is rusty and they were too scared to go ask for a picture and everyone was telling everyone else to do it, so I was like i'll go do it and went and asked. He seemed pretty cool, was happy to let me take a couple pics, told him I liked the noahs ark movie he was in, everyone at worked went over to ask him for pictures after that haha

Russell and Sir Ridley are perfect for each other.

I don’t get the Denzel Washington is a great actor thing every film I’ve seen of him he plays it exactly the same, same mannerisms and everything. Overrated imo

A prequel would’ve been more interesting. To see the rise of the general, Maximus. Also to see glimpses of Marcus’s rise to power as well.

First movie I watched over and over again and was equally impressed each time.

Should have been a standalone film.

We need a Nice Guys sequel. Perfectly showcased Russell Crowe can do comedy.

When I saw Napoleon charging at enemies head on I couldn't stop laughing its like a WW2 movie with Hitler leading his infantry by running on enemy tanks. Best comedy of the last 10 years

This should have a Very strong smart story if Maximus is dead,like Russell Crowe says Ridley Scott must have a very strong reason for doing Gladiator 2, but frankly I don't see any reason besides seeing what kind of an Emperor grown up Lucius is and if he's carrying out Maximus's last wishes,I will go see it just to see if it measures up to the first one,I hope the same beautiful music is in it,that music is iconic
