I had this happen to me recently. I've been working on a computer project and it wasn't getting done. It's something that i knew would help me if i finished it, but i couldn't get myself to actually do it. Computer projects always have problems and most of the time there's no easy solution. But something came over me and i decided that i'm going to do whatever it took to get things done and done correctly. Even if i had to spend all day doing it. In literally 30 minutes or so, i accomplished it. I sat back in awe of what happened. I thought, "If only i could apply this to even 4 or 5 key things, i'd be doing amazing things". I'm not super genius smart. But something happened that i didn't know was in me that rendered "intelligence" almost as something insignificant and put desire to achieve as the most important thing available. Just thought i'd share that.

The dichotomy would seem to be, that when it’s easy you procrastinate and tell yourself it will take a lot of time but when it’s difficult you tell yourself it is easy and can wait. Either way, it is a task hanging over your head. The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll finish. Good quote! “Do it, and it’ll be done” is a great little push to give yourself to interrupt that negative internal thought cycle. Push a little then re-assess. You can only see how long it should take by getting started and looking over the whole task. So start now! Get after it, and chip away because problems will always come up, outside commitments, and changes.

The unhurried rush is a philosophy of efficiency found in the classic science fiction novel, “Stranger in a Strange Land”, by Robert A. Heinlien. Read it.:) I have a personal philosophy of efficiency: priority of proximity. Do what is closest first. Unless there is a compelling reason to leave a task to complete another, do what is closest first. Do you have a screwdriver in your hand, and a screw to drive in front of you? Drive the screw, get the hammer later. Do you have a pen in hand, and paper in front of you? Write first, attend to the bills later, they’ll be there. Try it; it works.:)

Interesting. The only problem is, I tend to get really comfortable sitting down. And unless someone gives me a project to work on, I can't decide what to do. I am comfortable in a messy room. So nothing really motivates me to change.
