One of the costliest Medicare mistakes someone can make is signing up for a Medicare supplement with an insurance company that routinely “closes the book” on their customers. Companies like Mutual of Omaha use this deceptive tactic to lock unwitting victims into plans with massive annual rate increases. Boomer Benefits needs to be more vocal in warning their customers about this trickery.

Boomer Benefits would be of even more help to their clients if they would actually be upfront about the "closed book" trick that many Medicare Supplement providers use. Instead, Boomer Benefits chooses to be an active participant in this deceptive tactic. And anyone foolish enough to buy a Supplement from one of these shady companies will end up getting crushed by soaring rate increases.
I extremely like the video, man. Very helpful and informative. Thank you very much. It is presented so well too. Great, positive work.

So what is the advantage of signing up for United Health Care plan G through Boomer Benefits and not just paying for it through United Health Care directly?
Hi Danielle, Are there any Medigap or Medicare Advantage plans that cover a person for more than the first 60 days if traveling abroad for vacation? I have seen 60 days mentioned on Medigap plans but was hoping there are some plans with 90 or 120 day coverage when traveling.

Hi @andyw9966 - as of right now, Medigap plans only cover the first 60 days of travel. If you went the Medicare Advantage route, some offer more but it is up to the plan. We always recommend travel insurance if you are out of the country for more than 60 days.
I will be turning 65 in February of 2025. I kind of forgot the difference between N and G from an earlier video you had, but that is not my question. If you start out with one of the supplemental plans, from my understanding that there is now health screening in the 6-month window. If later I need the better plan, can I switch from the plan I have to the other plan without a health screening? Thank you

Hi there - Once you are past the 6 month OE period for your Medigap, you will have to pass through Underwriting in order to change your plan. Some states do not allow this, you can read more here - boomerbenefits.com/medicare-supplement-guaranteed-issue/
What if you have full medicaid? Doesn't that make getting a medigap plan unnecessary?
@BoomerBenefits

Hi there - depending on your level of Medicaid, it might be unnecessary to have a Medigap plan. We recommend talking with the Medicaid office to find out what level you have and what is necessary.

@@BoomerBenefits If you are over 55 Medicaid is not insurance, it is a stealth debt program. That is, they keep track of every penny that they spend on your healthcare and then they come for that sum after you die which is paid out of your assets. So, if you have a home or assets you want to leave to your children, if you have had a lot of care paid by Medicaid, the family probably won't see a dime of it. That was a little gift GWB and Clinton left the elderly in the early '90s. And often with Medicaid, there is a spend-down, an amount you pay every month to qualify for Medicaid that does not go toward the debt or anything else; it's just money out the window. A Medicare supplement IS insurance, it does not leave you with a debt to pay on your deathbed your premiums go to your care.
Which plan is better? G or N?

G. Hands down.
They don’t cover if Medicare doesn’t.
@BoomerBenefits

that is true! Medicare needs to cover your procedure for you Medigap to cover as well.
1. With original medicare only, you pay 20% of the Medicare Approved Amount, not of the inflated bill amount. 2. With original medicare only, you can choose your doctor/provider from any that accept medicare and new patients. You dont need a supplement plan for this. 3. Do the math yourself

Hi there - we understand! One of the main reasons people choose to get a Medigap plan is because that 20% has no cap. That cost can become very expensive for some surgeries or procedures.

@@BoomerBenefitsI have had insurance for most of my adult life. In all that time, I have rarely reached the deductible let alone the out of pocket maximum. I don’t think the “no cap” is really a big problem. Having said that, I am planning to get a supplement simply for the reason that my wife and I are doing a great deal of traveling. I know that Medicare has approved rates for everything but they also allow some providers to bill out at their full charge in order to encourage medical services in some areas. While I could easily afford 20% of an approved rate, if the bill was say $50,000 and Medicare allowed it, I would be hard pressed to pay $10,000 as my share. If I am still in good health when we decide to slow down the traveling, I may drop the supplement.
