@@intenseninja8241 yeah and how many of those old Soviet era warheads still actually work? We've already seen Russia's notorious habit of poor maintenance with their own conventional military. Not only is maintenance for nuclear warheads incredibly expensive but they also have a shelf life of up to 10 years. And considering the chaos after the collapse of the Soviet Union I doubt half of those nukes have been properly maintained in the last 30 years.

This is awesome. Gives the Russian guys a way to surrender safely while not allowing the Russian regime a way to know about it. The Russian guy surrenders with no casualties and after the war he might even be able to return to Russia and his family with no repercussions. An absolute win - win. It should be made easier and more rewarding to surrender. Give these soldiers who are forced to fight a chance to quit safely.

A great weapon against war is compassion.

Tough problem: so easy for Russian intel to call the number and learn how fighters are instructed to signal surrender (even if specific signals change daily or whatever), and then use this info against those intending to surrender. Very tough problem.

it highly depends on the circumstance, most of the beatings are on people who've already been witnessed to have killed a ukrainian soldier or higherups, although still it shouldn't be done because misidentification in that case is extremely likely to happen.

She did say that some prisoners want to be filmed, implying (maybe) that you have the choice not to be filmed. Although I really hoped that there would be the guarentee that they aren't beaten, and that they aren't filmed if they don't want to be. I hope the Russian POWs are treated properly like we are told they are. It would go a long way towards showing those few surrendering Russians that violence is not the answer, even if you have to face up to the violence of others from time to time. It would show that noncruelty can be the answer.
