I have a husky Shepard mix she turned 14 weeks today I'm hoping the Shepard mix makes her better at being a guard. And I agree this is the most stubborn dog I've ever met

True story: someone tried breaking into my place just a couple of weeks ago. I have two huskies. A 4-year-old and a puppy. The older girl threw a fit. I'd heard her but the sounds were so unrecognizable I was thinking, "Whose dog is out there losing their mind? WTF?" She finally came to get me. She was barking and pacing until the guy backed off. The guy wasn't afraid enough to run away, but he sure as hell did not want to test her. On the other hand, my puppy was acting all happy like the dude was coming to take her to the park. It was a nice touch that the older one kept getting between her sister and the man. Oddly enough during walks, the older one is composed, but the pup will absolutely not tolerate anyone walking in shadows or coming up out of a blind spot (like from behind a car or around a corner). They'd probably never actually do anything to help but I get an alarm in all situations with them combined.

My husky is very very protective and territorial. So contrary to others mine is absolutely a good guard dog.

Only time our female Husky, Chaos will be a great watch dog.. try to take her toys from her😂 Fostered her, signed adoption papers this afternoon. 💙🐾🐾🐾🐾💙

Our husky sleeps by the door to our apartment. Several times she has gone into full attack mode, with a growl and bark sequence that actually frightened me. Whoever was on the other side of that door was someone she really didn’t like, and went away quickly.

My Husky actual growled when a stranger ask to pet and started to walk toward us she started to growl which is extremely unusual to the point I had to tell him no you cant...so maybe she sensed something so I paid attention loves my Huskies

I which more people knew this. My parents, mainly my mom, had raised me to not randomly pet a dog that I see. Especially those that working, aka police dogs or guide dogs. I was told to always ask the owner first if I may. And even if I may, I still wont do too much sudden movements around the dog. I will hold my hand out with either the back of my hand or the palm of my hand towards the dog and let them come towards me to sniff or see if Im good enough for them. As a random person, you often dont know how the other dogs can behave. But Im glad that you paid attention to what your husky is saying. Dogs can sense things too. I remember when I was a kid where one of the "teacher" took me and a group of us kids to have her husband show something hunting related (I forgot what) Their dog had more or less given birth to a litter. Every other kids in the group where not allowed to get near the dog nor her litters. Me meanwhile, I was allowed

Still waiting for Spring in the UK. Our part husky boy would hide round the corner till he was sure it was us coming home. Our part husky girl barks at the window, but would do nothing if someone actually came in the house.

I have 6 huskies, and I know the moment someone so much as parks infront of my house. It is, however, my job to protect my dogs, not their job to protect me. That's why my gun is always in arms reach, but they are my alarm system

I know for a fact Husky/lab mix do. I came home to a blood bath one time. My dog was limping for a couple days but all the blood was from the burgler that broke in. Took me for ever to clean up the blood.

As a Siberian husky owner I can say that mine wouldn't be a good guard (attack dog) but I can assure you no noise and no movement goes unnoticed with my Siberian husky, he always lets me know when anything is going on around my house, he may be friendly and more likely to lick you to death than bite but at least he will notify me so I could react appropriately should the need ever arise !

I think mine is broken maybe. I have 3 low count hybrid huskies and two of them are terrible guard dogs. The first one I ever got though has attacked coyotes and even a couple wolves on our property. He has also attacked a couple idiots who tried to get in my semi truck while I wasn't present. They ignored the sign I hang on my driver door and took a gnarly chomp to the face. He never barks at a person. He looks 100% husky but he is not. He simply waits for a dumb person to break the physical boundary by being in his yard or the cab of my truck. The mechanic got in and sat down and said he heard a soft growl that was really deep. By the time he went to stand up and get out. Tuq nailed him in the face. He never barked once while he was out of the truck. I have a camera in the truck. He heard the door and somehow knew it wasn't me. Before be sat up he went on defense and bared his teeth. As soon as the truck shifts while the guy gets in he sits up halfway rigidly. He has total teeth bared while doing his gutteral growl. Guy hears him and proceeds to attempt to leave. Tuq isn't sure he isn't going to intrude more and pounces him from the bed to the driver seat teeth bared. He bites him once in the face. Guy screams and jumps out of the cab. Tuq jumps into the driver seat glaring teeth and snarling and snapping. He broke skin on his face. 4 puncture marks on his right side. Another mechanic heard him scream who actually knows my dog and comes running out. He carefully talks to Tuq and closes the door all while Tuq is lowering his head and glaring at him. As soon as the door closed he sits up like he's the driver and life resumes on normal. My dog got steak and salmon for dinner. My semi truck tractor is $180,000 used. Dog did his job. Mechanic said he saw the dog after reading my sign and ignored it because he was a husky. Bro you can't fix stupid. If someone has huskies and says no don't pet and don't approach, cause they bite, for the love of your stupid life please believe them. Stop believing Disney crap movies. Toddlers have more brains than a lot of adults about huskies. They are on the US national top 10 dangerous dog breeds. Can you train them to guard? Yes you can. Should you seek out this as their job? No never. The real reason and this is not my words but multiple law enforcement agencies because they are GSDs cousins, they WILL NOT RECALL IN ATTACK MODE EVEN FOR YOU IF YOU ARE THE ALPHA EVEN. That means they might actually attack mode to the death. In some states you can be sued, you lose your dog, and you have more emotional and mental trauma for your family for years. That's just my doggo, who by the way has bitten even me before. They are a mouthy breed and 99% I would love to think are stuffies that bark. That 1% though...Dude, these dogs can jack you up badly. They can bite as fast as they run and they have a huge bite force for real.

My huskies were way too friendly to be guard dogs. Now I have a doberman. THATs a guard dog. Best first line of defense is a good guard dog.

Husky's are great *watch* dogs. You will know when a robber shows up at 1am ... or the neighbors cat .... or a leaf blows by ... or if the almighty important task of telling you that someone has opened up a cheese wrapper. What they will do about it is be lovable, cute, fluffy and friendly. Now, if you harm, or appear to harm, the family members that they consider the pups of the pack .... well .... you're about to see cotton candy turn into cold-forged iron faster than you can blink. They will embrace the inner wolf they descended from and those threatening the pups will hear the horns of Valhalla. Short of that, prepare to be jumped on and licked into a laughing mess.

I don’t believe my Husky would attack an intruder but she will let me know someone is outside. She also stands in between me and someone she doesn’t like. She is alert 🚨 and on point always but she may lick a robber to death 💀 before biting them, but like I tell people it’s not the dog who will bite you it’s her crazy owner you should worry about. 😂😂😂😂

Texas walker ranger is a lame show. My husky -mix hides under the bed when my parents visit. She runs from people at the dog park when people try to pet her.

Mine doesn't bark alot like the other neighborhood dogs, but is there some messing around she like bark to let me know somethings wrong. Especially if a rattle snake comes around. She also chased and treed a bobcat.

My husky will definitely lick someone to death before she bites. She has sure sacred the poop out of people just because she look intimidating. She certainly don't take any mess from other dogs. She always put herself between me and the 'danger' other dogs, snakes and people.
