A dog is the best companion a human can ever hope for. Unless you have had that bond you will never know. The cruelty that is inflicted on these amazing animals never ceases to infuriate me, the forgiveness that they show is second to none. You are your dog's world, make the most of every day you can with them as their life span is far too short 🐶

A dog will get kicked by 99 people, shown love by 1, and forgive all 99. A human will be greeted by 99 dogs, bitten by 1, and condem all 100. Dogs are better people than humans.

I can tell you with certainty that dogs remember you even after a Long separation. I’m a veteran that was away from home for 2 years. My friend had a chihuahua as a puppy. I played with him everything I went to his house. After school he moved far away. After 8 years I made a trip to visit him. The dog had gotten kinda mean and didn't really like anybody and barked at everybody. Well when he saw me he instantly got excited wagging his whole body and ran up to me for pets.

It's a bond that has transcend time, I have read moving epitaphs written by ancient Romans to their companions when they pass away. Here's my favorite: "My eyes were wet with tears, our little dog, when I bore thee (to the grave)... So, Patricus, never again shall thou give me a thousand kisses. Never canst thou be contentedly in my lap. In sadness have I buried thee, and thou deservist. In a resting place of marble, I have put thee for all time by the side of my shade. In thy qualities, sagacious thou wert like a human being. Ah, me! What a loved companion have we lost!"

Any time I was away from home - say in the Army, on my calls home I would get my wife to hold the phone up and I'd call my Weimaraner dog and he would immediately start a look in the house to find me; coming back to the phone to check if somehow I was "in there". I'd talk to him, tell him how much I was missing him and my wife would say that his tail was wagging flat-out! He most certainly recognised my voice. Reminds me of the old gramophone label - His Master's Voice [HMV] which had a little Terrier looking into the horn of a gramophone; one of the best visual labels I have seen.

there is no such thing as unconditional love , we just use that when we do not know what the conditions are, if i could make a guess i would say dogs love us if we are nice to them and or feed them. some seem to only need us to be nice to them though like my sisters 3 dogs seem to particularly love me for some reason, maybe its because i never raise my voice and let them bite my hands when i play with them not sure.

@@chino436that’s a bit different than panting or barking Howling is something deeply ingrained in dogs that came from their wolf ancestor. Wolves would howl to communicate, for various reasons, but often for “group” reasons such as celebrating a kill, or calling out to pack members at a distance. So when dogs hear us howl, it activates their howling instincts and triggers then to join in

I thought that way the entire time we had our dog Sam, then he had to be put to sleep in November of 22. It was horrific never known a sadness like it the guilt that went with it because it felt way more extreme than when I even lost my own mother. I've heard the same from other people my brother in law said the same he's never known a pain like it, best we could understand between us is because ours dogs were with us all the time. Unlike family they are with us constantly, 100% of the time if they are able to be at our side they will be! After losing Sam me and my partner both said that's it no more dogs I can't go through this again.......bt after a while you start remembering all the good that comes from a dog not the pain of losing one. Seven months after losing Sam we couldn't go any longer without a dog and we got Benji a smooth hair fox terrier. We as a species truly don't deserve dogs

Here in the UK there is a big problem now since 2020, when a lot of people started to explore their local countryside. The incidents of dogs attacking livestock has exploded and unfortunately dog owners don't think it's a big deal. They are very concerned about any cruelty that affects dogs (and rightly so) but don't recognise that their dog chasing livestock is a case of animal cruelty, which it is. I have been bitten by dogs a few times and it has not bothered me to be honest but seeing a sheep get attacked, i find sickening

I never could’ve married a non-dog person. Our pets are our entire life! The heartbreak of losing one made me take a a second because I didn’t think I could do it again, but there’s no way I could live without dog love! I’m 46 and remember each and every single one of my pets like it was yesterday, you never get over them 🥺

Not the most informtative video with all that repetition of what is essentially nothing but platitudes. Surprisingly this guy says dogs' scent of smell is 50 times that of a human. If a dog can smell illegal drugs wrapped in plastic and placed in a suitcase laden with distracting other scents when I cannot smell anything (except pot of course) even when it's right in front of me. In order to do that it would need to be around 100,000 times that of a human.

Exactly why I'm in the comment section. My pibble is demandingly affectionate to the extent that I think she's clingy, but other people love it. She knows no stranger, and while I'm her person for sure she's not exactly loyal. Every person we encounter on walks and hikes is her new best friend, and when one of those friends returns her affection I just take off her leash and have a seat. Once though, after being gone for five days, I came home and she JUMPED in my arms. That was a most welcome greeting, and I absolutely melted.

Norwegian Elkhounds were selected to hunt moose and other big game, and to herd reindeer. They do this job wonderfully. I've had the breed for forty years and in all that time there hasn't been a moose attack or a reindeer stampede within a five hundred mile radius of Atlanta. They also make great heating pads.

I got a huge greeting from my dogs after being away from home for several days. I got the same greeting after being outside and coming in after 10 minutes. I played lots of games with them I invented. I also confused them with a tape recording of my voice played through a high fidelity loudspeaker, watched their reaction to seeing themselves in a mirror and me standing behind them petting an imaginary dog they saw in the reflection, and watching their reaction to a flashlight beam dancing around the floor.

Every dog has to reach his or her own unique understanding of the world, so I imagine there are any number of ways they conceive of us. Frankly, I expect most of them see us as members of a fellowship to which they naturally belong. It's probably self-evident that we're something different, but of the same group or family or pack or whatever... Someone bigger with magical access to food and who cares for them and keeps them safe and belonging. They must notice we're deficient in scent and hearing because we clearly miss things they are aware of. I think they often realize that's where they can do their bit for us, particularly in making us aware of external threats.

Its an interesting question. Dogs don't really have a concept of what a dog is. They don't have that ability to reason or contemplate. What we do know is they treat strange dogs differently than they treat strange humans usually. While a human might get some barks and growls, a strange dog frequently will get more aggressive treatment. So we know while a dog will not trust a strange person, they are usually not keen to outright attack them unlike what they would perceive as a rival in another dog. So while they may not know what the concept of what a dog is, they recognize there is a difference between humans and dogs. Of course the caveat here is the average interactions. I do understand and have witnessed dogs overstepping themselves with some people. But this isn't the norm, and usually infers some level of trauma on the dog's part.

I’m pretty sure our family elkhound thought he was the protector of our mom and responsible for her safety and well being. If he didn’t like you then you don’t get near her or in the house. Rare when it happens but when it did they did not get in or near.

It has been proven that dogs are better at understanding hand signals than any other creature on the planet after humans, including other primates, dogs don't have hands but even untrained dogs instinctively recognise hand signals as important even if they do not know what the signal means. This could ONLY have been because humans have used hand signals when hunting to avoid making noise and the dogs that understand them are cared for and bred, whist dogs that ruined a hunt were abandoned or put down as a liability.

Anyone who has ever owned a dog knows that dogs see humans differently than other dogs. When they see another dog, they react differently than when they see other humans. Dogs do not see humans as other dogs nor as pack leaders as said in the video, it is more complex than that.
