You're NEVER 'a parent' to an animal, as that would require you to be the same species and them to be your offspring. You're the owner and or carer. We really need to stop humanizing animals, they will NEVER be human, no matter what we do or say.

While I get where you're coming from, keep in mind that humans are also animals. Thus, it's inaccurate to say that you can never be a parent to an animal or that an animal can never be human; your literal children *are* animals, and a tiny percentage of animals *are* humans.

I respect your perspective on the terminology. Indeed, the relationship between humans and animals is unique, and each person may use different terms to describe it. Thanks for sharing your viewpoint.

@@sheetedkid Words have different meanings in different contexts. Get real -- you knew full well what the original commenter meant, and that they were employing the common usage of "animal," not the biological or taxonomic usage.

@@zammmerjammer "Get real -- you knew full well what the original commenter meant..." I can assure you that I didn't. Strictly speaking, I still don't; make of that what you will. While your assumption about what mirola73 meant is probably correct, I'll thank you not to presume that I've made the same assumption.
