Awesome little drone to learn how to fly, and also a fun toy. What are your thoughts? Should I have crashed it more?

Nice video. I think you are very precise in your judgements. After watching several reviews of that drone, I came quite to the same conclusion. Connectivity range is not this drone's strongest point. I just wish you mentioned its shortcomings mitigations strategies, e.g. using wifi range extender, etc, since it's quite important as connectivity affects video quality and controls.

YOU SHOULD NOT USE PROP GUARDS WHEN FLYING OUTSIDE. This effects video quality and aerodynamics, the wind will grab the prop guards and will make it fly like a kite. I have also had good and bad video feeds depending on the device I use. Samsung S8 or high end iPhone had a much better connection than my less quality devices I have flown the Tello with. Great video, have fun.

I'm looking for a tello drone right now, it's nice to see a video so recent. This review helped alot, and I hope within the next few days, I'll have a tello of my own.

Hey Mr. Sujano, thanks for the overview, I just bought one of these to learn how to control one and not for the video recording aspect. I intend to use it mostly inside a building so the weather will not be an issue, at least initially. The product is still in shipment and may be arriving tomorrow. I appreciate the tips on charging it fully before doing anything else with it. Enjoyed your video on this product.

With the virtual sticks on the phone, do you have to keep looking down at the phone screen to make sure you touch the sticks at the right position?

I got it for free . And it’s my first drone . Didn’t have problems . I was actually very impressed. I like it . Prolly cuz it’s my first ever drone so that’s why I like it

Try using the Xiaomi Wifi Extender. You’ll get much better results: Phone connects to the extender wifi, and the extender connects to Tello’s wifi.

Is this at the ARC?

if you fly it away from all the houses etc you will find the video smooths out - its still only 720p but it will look better than what your getting at the moment. Also set your phone to airplane mode

@@MrSujano Only 720P can still be good quality. Something must have been wrong.Yes it can be choppy if WiFi is weak. But just look on KZread. People fly it up 30 meters and video is sharp and smooth. The Tello is not a toy. It is a video drone. For when you can't fly your GPS drone. And $99 is not cheap! It's expensive for a small optical flow drone. But worth it. If you know how and when to use it. For example on a town square with people around. Or through tight spaces. Or just a quick selfie. Problem with you reviewers is you think everybody works for National Geographic. Oh no!! Look at the pixel. Not a good pixel. Wow wow wow. Can't have a bad pixel! Must be 4k 60fps! If it's not 4k 60fps then we all die a horrible death! Well if that is the case then hire a helicopter crew with IMAX. I think you damaged your your Tello in the snow. now the signal is weak. Or it happened to be a faulty unit. People are all happy with their Tello. Only the 'professional' reviewers seem to have problems. At least you wear your cap the right way! Most reviewers can't tell their back from their front. They suffer from Telloritis.

Really useful review, thanks, helped me decide whether or not to get one of these (not!). I'm after something with at least a 1080p camera, onboard micro-SD card recording, and pre-programmed flight modes (esp. orbit)... Is there a relatively cheap drone you would recommend that ticks those boxes? Cheers!

@@benfraser7747 loads ppl selling it on eBay in UK or if your in the USA ,check out on amazon , if it's good price get the fly combo version , as it's been discontinued you can't buy it in stores or from DJI.

I have one and its perfect.. video is great.. its a small drone and any one who flues drones knows wind is going to b a issue...

Hello, can you let me know if the tello is able to fly in the beach breeze/wind areas? If yes I dont mind the average video quantlity but at this price if it can fly on an open beach then I think its fine.

For better video quality use external wifi .

The best thing to fix the stutter is get a power bank and a usb powered WiFi extender that’s how I fixed mine

3:20 went I went to Melbourne zoo my family told me to fly and take a pic little did I know in collided with a tree as the weather was very cold like 4 degree celcius

It's like paying for the brand name.. Its the same as drones half it's price

I love it for the fun. 100 bucks. can't beat that

I am just saying if you are using an older phone the camera will be worse and connection

remove the guards and the tello can handle a lot more wind

Put airplane mode on it helps with losing connection

41 deg cel lasted prob 3 mins over heated

The third party tello FPV app is better and a WiFi extender helps to. These cost thouhgh. It is only a toy but you don't do well with it man.

looks like a good drone for the price, but due to my experience with these types of cheap drones, i wouldnt get it if youve been burned with cheap parrot drones in the past.

Waste of money. I purchased two of them for my nephews. The app is absolute garbage and doesn’t work very well at all.

A Tello is not an ordinary drone and should not be reviewed as if it is. You did not show that the Tello can also be connected to VR goggles, and - this is the most important - that the Tello is easily programmable. This is a great opportunity to kids to learn more about how everything, I mean everything works today, and to get educated on coding in a fun and "instantly gratifying" way. Your conclusion focuses heavily on the video quality which you consider poor it really is HD720p30. But video is not what the Tello is particularly made for. Too bad you do not address Tello's real qualities.

You not buying this for video purposes

Dude... you take it out in cold weather with strong wind (to thatmini drone) and then complain about bad image quality. What the fok did you expect? That's kinda your fault, not the drones. It's like buying cheap boat, smashing it few times with a hammer and then complaining, that it's starting to sink. Well.... duh??

Bruh the tello is *not* an outside drone, you would find it to be the great drone it actually is, if you used it indoors

I don’t like the tello drone i have that drone until I upgraded to the DJI Mavic mini drone in September 1 2020
