Oh wow you got the RC controller! Lol when I ordered my DJI FPV I got the batteries a day before I got my actual drone, which I ordered all at the same time. Ah well. Looking forward to the Mavic 3 unboxing. HDMI port is at the bottom! Nice!

Thank you for showing that they have two wheels on the back of this remote! So you can adjust the gimbal as well as the camera settings! The basic remote does not have this. My Cine arrives tomorrow!

Just got mine today, using it with my AIR 2S. Range might be slightly less, but overall it's an amazing controller.

Please clarify the Occusence 3+ exclusivity feature on the RC Pro and why it's not available with the DJI standard controller working in conjunction with the Tripltek 8 Pro or other display devices? I understand the latter alternative only runs OC2.

JUST received my A2S yesterday (11-30-‘21) AND they’ve shipped the ‘RC-Pro’ controller as an upgrade to combo pkg IF the Smart Controller was chosen..wayyy cool! DJI has NOW upgraded the firmware to invlude the A2S for compatibility..

Very nice unboxing! I'm considering upgrading from the standard Mavic 3 remote to the RC Pro as i'm missing some buttons (C1, C2 and 5D button) on the standard remote, that used to be present on a standard Mavic 2 remote. I have a question about the file storage. Since you can place a micro SD card, is it possible to download full size RAW files and 4k video onto the SD card as a backup? This would be great on trips to have a backup of the footage, in case of crashing the drone! Additionally, would it also be possible to back up pictures when plugging in a camera in the USB-C port to the micro SD card? This would give it a double functions as a sort of Gnarbox, would be useful! Curious to hear from you, cheers!

Can you consider making a review of the differences / benefits between the basic controller and this new one [pros & cons = for the average person do you think an upgrade is worth it❓] I decided to buy & it’s on its way 🐌 … once you do receive your Mavic 3, can you consider the settings menu for image / video please.

Hi, great review. Can I record video and audio (using external mic) at the same time using the RC Pro?

I just purchased my first Drone, the Mavic 3 and the RC Pro, could you make a video or have any information on how to transfer files between the two. I keep trying to sent files to my iPhone over Bluetooth but keep saying unsuccessful. Not sure the purpose of connecting to each other then. They don’t give a lot of information on any of this. Also what’s the best and fastest way to transfer while out in the field after shooting.

Sorry if you said and I missed it... Is RC Pro running on Android 7 embedded as the SC1 was? It's a common version since it's less integrated with Play Services and easier to manage security. You just don't have ANY lol. P.S. I do wish DJI offered a bundle with RC Pro, so I didn't have to buy 2 controllers, one of which I will never use. It's bad enough that the Fly More Bundle isn't doesn't discount anything. They just put accessories and batteries in a set and charged you full price for all the components.

I was wondering if the smart controller was for me a worthy upgrade and have looked for a review and your review is I think the first I have seen. Your method of displaying/reviewing really suits my way of learning. Very informative indeed. I need to ‘use’ my current system first before I make any decision, but if I do upgrade this review will be a substantial prod 😉 thank you for sharing

@@FreezingFaces I think I prefer the RC Pro controller (initially bought as an extra for the Mavic 3). Over the RC controller for the Mini 3 pro. The RC Pro is heavier and feels rugged compared to the RC for mini 3.

Hopefully this can work soon with the mavic air 2. Good review, cheers!

Unfortunately it won't work as RC pro only can be used with drone that are on O3. Mavic Air 2 transmission are on O2, unless if you do own Air 2s

Hey Sean, I have the smart controller and it will only charge at the normal rate with the provided charger, standard phone charger take 10 hours or so, what is the M/amp output required to charge the new controller? I have the Mavic 3 combo on order and will be getting the Rc pro controller.

Somehow got it working! but not intuitive as many settings in DJI RC Pro, and also shows up the MAvic 3 for connection, hotspot phone (ios), bluetooth, wifi on both the RC in settings and the phone of course .. etc Now when it was working today these settings are off in the RC (?) while it was working (?) and I'm a little confused after all the hoop jumping I tried. Will try and write it all down in sequence soon from scratch so can understand it better. Seemed to be fairly uncomplicated and no problem with previous drones to hotspot the phone for mapping (Mavic Pro and Mini 2 etc. Cheers Merv

Then production costs will raise and it will be even more expensive. Production costs in China have gone up a lot during covid time. Chip prices are also way more expensive than before.

@@ChristiaanRoest79 there is no excuse for the price to go up, for an extra 1" of screen, its a very overpriced device as it is, which has already seen a large increase over the previous gen model, and thats after the drone itself has doubled in cost (Market depending) over the mavic 2 fly more almost

Very nice. I’m considering doing the same as you, getting the Mavic 3 fly more combo and the smart controller separately. I also agree that those threads on those sticks look awfully tiny. It will be interesting to see if that becomes a problem.

Why would you? The price difference is small - better to get the Cine version with the 1T HD and the Apple ProRes 422 HQ! The latter will save you tons of time in post.

@@Fluterra I do not know, what prices you're looking at, but in Europe, it's like 2k in difference between the Fly More kit and the Cine Premium kit and the controller is 1k. So that's still 1000 EUR in the difference. Plus, if your 1TB drive is full, your drone is grounded, until you empty the drive. If your regular Mavic 3's microSD is full, you just remove it and stick another one in the card slot. I went down the same route of buying the Fly More kit and ordering the RC Pro remote seperate for these exact reasons.

Sean is there a fairly simple way to get DJI RC Pro connected (hot spot) to my iPhone? for the map ability???? It has references on the RC settings but I'm looking for a bit of guidance please. RC Pro has no slot for sim card cellular data for maps? How does Find my Drone (map) function on RC Pro? Still getting to grips with this. It's a nice bit of gear to use so far. Not a problem so far and no connecting cords etc.

If you enable hotspot on your phone it’s going to broadcast a Wi-Fi signal. You should just be able to go into the RC Pro then to the connection settings and connect to the hotspot.

Look forward to your Mavic 3 video. Does it allow you to share photos and videos with an iPhone like the older smart controller?

So far I can only share with my phone using Bluetooth. I can plug the Mavic 3 right into my android though and it treats as an external storage device. Transfer speed is very fast that way.

Can you use this controller with DJI FPV Drone without the Goggles?.

I think they will eventually Make the air 2S compatible with this new SC

Can you invert the left stick elevation controls like for FPS or simulator games? I have the regular RC controller and the built in app only lets me move the elevation controls to the right stick, but doesn't let me invert them on the same stick.

I believe it adds storage to the controller and you can back up your flights to the card. I’m not 100% certain but I think you can run an hdmi cable from the RC Pro to another external monitor for someone else to view so people (clients or a director) aren’t looking over your shoulder when you are flying. That’s how I did when I use my DJI Crystal Sky monitor.

Yeah, I think it's a bummer that we can't use the new smart controller with older models of drones like the Mini 2, or Mavic Air 2/S? I was really hoping for a new smart controller, but compatible with the older models. I guess I'm going to have to buy the older controller? I haven't yet because I've watched a lot of people complaining about it? and I was told to just wait and see if we get a new one. So, thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍

From what I heard and read, they will release some updates next year on the new controller so it will be compatible with older models. Hold your purchase for the older model.

Which charging cable did you use to charge the RC Pro? I had mine on charge overnight and this morning it was only 75% charged. I was using the small power brick that has USB-A to USB-C. I’m now trying to charge the controller with the larger power brick meant to charge the power bank that comes with the Fly More combo to see if that makes a difference.

I’ve been charging it with the charger that comes with the Mavic3. It charges fairly fast. I don’t know why they didn’t include their own fast charger this year like they did with the original. For the huge price increase think they would’ve at least included one

Curious where you were able to purchase this? It's showing up as pre-order only for shipment in December everywhere I'm finding it.

I bought mine directly from DJI's website on November 11th. It shows shipping label has bee. creating for FedEx, but it has not been shipped yet. It is coming from Hong Kong.

How hard are you going full send on those sticks bud? Look at the strength of the alloy. You must be the thumb of war champion

It's a xaomi android tablet. Think that may be why there's no Google play. I hunted around for a Google play services apk for mine and no dice.

Does it come with a spare set of controller sticks? I think the original did....

Yes you can plug it into a power bank. If it’s just a normal power bank it will trickle charge it ideally want some thing with high output for full charge capability

Yes it is not compatible yet. Same with the version that comes with the air 2S they will not pair with a Mavic3 yet. I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before they release a firmware to make everything compatible

Since the Mavic 3 and this RC Pro controller are using the O3+ transmission standard. I would hope this is compatible with the Air 2s, as that claims to use O3.

No. DJI has a way of blocking that. This remote will not work with older drones. Only M3 and newer.

…so 2999.00 for the combo plus 999.00 for the RC equals 3999.00. 1 TB of storage cost about 1000.00 and you’ll but multiple SD cards so the better option would have been to simply purchase the CINE whether you needed proRes or not. Also the proRes is a 1500.00 option included on the CINE with the KEY. CINE version is a no brainer

It does but it transmits everything on the screen like record button, maps, etc unlike the previous rc controller which transmits only the video feed. Quite a bummer.

Hi Sean, so the price going to a Canadian address is $959 USD? The price for me to buy in Florida is $1199 USD, plus sales tax. I thought that your sales tax is double what mine is. Just checking with you …. because I have a snowbird friend in Canada coming back to his Florida home for a few months now that he can cross the border after the COVID-19 shutdown. If my price here in the US is significantly more than your price in Canada, then my friend is willing to order and bring me the new controller. (By the way, the inserts for the sticks are a different material than the previous model.) Thanks for all of your really good posts.

When you order from DJI you do not have to pay sales tax or duty. And Canada has less duty on drone gear which is why the prices are cheaper. So indeed if you know somebody in Canada have them order from the Canadian DJI site And have it delivered to a Canadian address and you’ll get it at that cheaper price. I do believe they could even use your US credit card to pay for it and that way you don’t have to pay the exchange rate. In fact I do believe you can order it yourself As long as it’s being delivered to a Canadian address

If DJI doesn’t support it with the mavic 2 Pro in the least. I’ll be sooooo disappointed. It’s old hardware literally like how tablets slow down as well as phones over the years

give it a year or so they will have a firmware update to make it work with other DJI drones.... then the cycle goes for then new one to come... just like smartphones lol... gots to sell something new every year and make minimal upgrades at a time lol
