Builtin Mic Audio backup is a nifty new feature but I’d like to add a word of caution when using this feature. As this is something totally new to the workflow you must remember that there will be an additional WAV file recorded together with the video file. If you, like me, use Lightroom to import from your card and then format the card before using it for the next event those WAV files will be lost as they are not imported by LR. This will negate the purpose of this recording

Very timely. I just got mine last week. Didn't have the opportunity to test it yet. I really appreciate how DJI releases these regular firmware updates/upgrades. Best consumer electronics company in the industry.

Perhaps I could add a couple of details on the new "audio backup" feature, whose title is a bit strange to me. Yes, you can use it to record the internal mics as well as the wireless mic, and mix or switch in editing as you wish. But it works just the same with UBC-C mics, and a good example would be if you wanted binaural sound from a USB-C binaural headset, but you also wanted to talk to camera. Binaural headsets are not particularly good for recording the wearer's voice, but with the new 4 channel sound recording feature, you can also record on the internal mics and crossfade to those at the points where you speak. Lastly, the wave file is created even when no external mic is in use (if the menu option is ticked). This gives you a lossless wave file created from the internal mics, which you can use to replace the lossy AAC audio embedded with the video. For music purposes this is very handy - you could process the wave file as required with eq, reverb, compression, or whatever, create a new processed wave file from that losslessly, and replace the original AAC audio when editing. A serious audio recordist would never use AAC for the source of audio material, so this gives a very worthwhile alternative. (I believe GoPro have had this option for a few years). The Pocket 3 is now a four-channel audio recorder with video added on!

Excellent points but wouldn't an external recorder capable of nice quality be better for serious music professionals? I can't imagine those internal mics are that great.

@@dkeberhard You'd be surprised - DJI seem to have some sound specialists in the company and they do a good job (at the price and as part of a camera package).

I like the new audio safety track.

2 things that would have certainly made me purchase a P3, number one is a 40mm lens of some sort wether its an attachment or an actual lens. Number two, is the sale of a individually available mic2 unit.

4:3 guides would’ve been better since we can crop for both YT and IG etc

Hi Mr. FlytPath I bought a DJI Pocket 3 with DJI Mic 2. I was told by you that the Mic 2 can record in stereo and also transmits in stereo to the Pocket 3. So that's why I bought a Sony ECM-LV1 (stereo lavalier), which I connected to Mic2, but unfortunately I can't record any stereo sound. Is it because the microphone has a wrong plug? In that case, I must be able to get an adapter between the microphone and Mic 2, what is the name of such a cable?

Nice video... If you have to pick up one action camera , which one would you pick up and why? Insta360 AcePro vs GoPro Hero 12 vs DJI Action 4 or the DJi pocket 3 ? I am very curious to hear your choice. :)))

Hmmm. The Pocket 3 isn't an action camera - it's a gimbal camera, which is for significantly different purposes. When comparing cameras, first define the purpose. And if you do actually want an action camera, don't buy the Pocket 3.

Ihave downloaded the latest firmware and am I right in that the Mic 2 will not record to the pocket 3 when it is Pro mode? If not, how do you get it to work

Have you tried a lav into the Mic2, I have Shure lavs that work with DJI mic original but nothing with the Mic2

It's because its a trs and not trrs. Once you get the adapter plugs it works perfectly. Lavalier adapter: amzn.to/46T4FKh

@@becauseofn4834 Basically it's just recording video with the full sensor instead of cropping it to 16:9. That way you can crop in post and have a lot more flexibility. It's a super helpful feature if you post to social media but also should be super simple to implement via firmware. My S23 Ultra can record 8K in 16:9 but can't record 4K in 4:3 even though it's way LESS pixels. It makes no sense lol. The GoPro Hero 11/12 do it, the Insta360 Go 2/3 do it, and the Linux S5 II/x do it.

I'm curious how your FPV rearview centering behavior is working? On mine, attempting to center the camera locks it to the horizon (like I'd expect tilt lock mode to behave.) However, when the camera is in selfie mode, attempting to center the camera by double tapping the joystick behaves as expected. Toggling the camera between selfie mode and rearview mode while in FPV mode and holding the device at an angle seems to have inconsistent behavior for me?

@@AlbertStewart That's actually quite strange to me since the centering is behaving how I'd expect tilt-lock mode to work? At least that's how it is for the pocket 1 and pocket 2.... But now all 3 gimbal modes all follow the same rearview centering behavior like it's all tilt-locking to the horizon 😕

@@EveryCountry I have noticed this too, and it is driving me absolutely crazy. Otherwise perfect vlogging camera. The horizon centering in FPV is just wrong. It should follow wherever the camera is pointed at. If I want to record myself, and then turn the camera to record something that is upwards, I always have to use the joystick to turn the camera upwards because it resets to the horizon instead of where I am pointing the camera.... and following camera movement is the point of the whole FPV mode... My Pocket 1 does work as expected though.

@@Hornankoje I finally got a confirmed response from DJI that this is expected behavior and there's no intention to fix it.

Does it solve overheating in EU?

Anyone know how to level the DJI mic 2 to -6 db or something? Audio keeps peaking and clipping in recordings.

DJI are still missing the most important update which is the long exposure shutter to go slower than 1 second

When using the Pocket 3 as a Webcam, can the gimbal be locked in position so it is not tracking movement?

I'm bit disappointed, that there is no other way of firmware update than through Mimo App. My app on my main phone cannot connect to camera. On the other phone doesn't find new firmware.

download the Osmo Pocket 3 Firmware v04.02.01.13 bin file. Plug your tranmisster to your computer. Drag that bin file to your transmitter folder.
