@@amoktimeflies Starting off with the oldies I really adore. The Phantom 2 Vision, a Hubsan, and 2 Mini 2s - one took a dive into a lake, but the local folks rescued it for me, can you believe it? 😂 And then there's the baby, the Mini 4. Even dabbled in RC helicopters, but that's a hobby for the big kids 💸

I was getting close to pulling the trigger on the Air 3 as an upgrade from a Mini 2 but the 50/150mtr restriction was a big issue/concern. Who knows what going to happen when the CAA finally decide what's what in 2026. So glad I went for the Mini 4 pro. Great little drone.

Yeh - both strong contenders but if I could only have 1 in 2024 then the mini 4 pro 2026 might be a different matter. Not that I really regret getting the Air 3!tho… Many thanks for watching!

@@amoktimeflies Just as a thought for new drone people. The DJI site doesnt help, but the sales stores have things like "DJI Mini 3 Fly More Combo Plus with DJI RC Controller" It seems there is a RC Pro version, some say RC2 Controller. I have looked on the net and youtube, however, all these different part names seem to be set to confuse buyers into buying old items. Maybe a vid on the remote control versions. I compared priced between teo of out tech discount stores in Australia to the DJI Australia site. The DJI site was cheaper than the two stores, further adding to confusion.

Thankyou - Yeh - DJI aren't perfect when it comes to consistency in their naming conventions - one of the more recent confusions was what used to be called 'ActiveTrack' got changed to 'Activeshots' and 'Activeshots 360' but is also referred to in the controller settings as 'SmartShots'! There are two basic controllers - the RCN which you slot your phone into and use that as the screen and then the 'RC' which is the one with the built in screen. Then there are the RCN2 and The RC2 which work only with the DJI Mini 4 Pro and the Air 3 and use Occusync 4 (stronger signal). The RCN2/RC2 are not backwards compatible with other models of drone unfortunately - for a time people were speculating that there would be a firmware update to solve this, but that doesn't appear to have been forthcoming. Then there's the RC Pro which has a better screen more powerful processor and is basically an Android smartphone with the phone connection - It's V expensive, but was made before Occusync 4 and is not compatible with the Mini 4 Pro and Air 3. Might stick that in a vid at some point, although some of it is covered briefly in this one kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4l3rtejd7OXlJM.html

Totally agree with you mate, the Air 3 is like a bullet too.

Yeh - there have been times when I've just kindof lost myself in the flight with the Air 3 which is nice - very rare for me to bring it back even in the orange let alone the red!

17:39 I have recently got my A2 C of C so that I could fly the air 3 closer and not in the A3 category. However I have been told by several people that since the Air 3 is a C1 classification, it can be flown in the A1 category like the Mini 4 Pro. I stated the CAA guidelines to them but they were all adamant that I was wrong and didn’t need an A2 to fly the Air 3 closer to people or in areas that the Mini 4 Pro can.

Hi Kevin - they are 100% wrong and you are correct. The ‘C’ classifications are not *currently* recognised by the CAA and are only applicable in the EU, which is why they may be getting confused. However, in a recent consultation, the CAA have proposed to start recognising C labels which would indeed put the Air 3 in the Open A1 Category… 11 months and counting! 😉 Thanks for watching!

@@amoktimeflies I informed one of the people who had told me about the C1 classification rule the information that you have given and they have quoted from CAA CAP 2004 Drone classification From 1 January 2023 new drones will have to meet a set of product standards. These will be classed from CO to C4, based on the weight and capability of the drone, and will determine how and where you can fly. Drones classed CO or C1 can be flown in the open A1 sub category. For C2 it's open sub category A2 or A3 and for classes C3 and C4 you can only fly in the A3 sub category.

CAP2004 - ‘Flying as a hobby and *AT* a club’. I’ve been on several forums looking this up as to my shame I wasn’t even aware of CAP2004. This has never come up on Geeksvana and there are some extremely experienced and passionate voices in that group. I suspect your friend may be putting their interpretation on the wording but looking closely at it, it appears to be about hobbyists flying in a specifically designated and managed club area. I think there’s definitely a difference between ‘AT a club’ and ‘IN a club’ CAP722 is the more commonly used set of rules for flying ‘in the wild’ as it were, which kindof applies to 99% of drone owners. That said - Happy to be corrected though! I’ve never said that I’m an expert - I just know what I know to fly as safely as possible (and within the law!)

Air 3 all the way. I'll explain why. It's better then the mavic 3 pro. Idc what anybody says or specs. Also all dji mini lineup sucks in the wind. Over half the year it's windy all over the world. Air 3 has never gave me problems in the wind. It doesn't struggle to go far and come back. It's powerful. It also has 4g built in. It's the first djo that has it built in. Of course it's locked in some places but it's there and everyone who's tried it had had it work.

Oh yes - don’t get me wrong - it works and is lovely, but flying it closer than 50m to people or buildings (with an A2 CofC) can get you arrested in the UK - which is why the zoom is really good… Completely agree on the wind resistance though - ‘tis a beast! 👹

All over all~ The Air 3 is the BESTEST Drone by DJI ever~ No doubt~ Best value, best performance, best quality, best wind resistance, longest battery life, best signal from O4, best range all comes with the Air 3, I started to fly a drone for my photography/video hobby or work from the Mavic Air 1! then I replaced it by Mavic 2 and the Air 2S till to now my new workhorse is the Air 3, Air series never make you disappointed~

Yeh - defo outside the UK, it is the best, but personally for me in the UK with the current restrictions on 500g+ drones it’s the Mini 4 Pro. That said, in 2026 that may all change as there is a proposal that the CAA recognise C labels which would lift those restrictions. And then the Air 3 WILL be my favourite! Thanks for watching!
