Darren ! I am impatiently waiting for my Mini 3. Couldn't afford the pro. I have bought 2 other DJI drones in the past and could not get the hang of it. Ended up selling them. If I had found this video back then my life would have been different. I am now confident I have a way forward to get some skills. This video IS a game changer ! I am 71 yrs old and I haven't been this excited in a long time ! You are now at the top of my list, my number one go to. You are an incredible teacher and am now a huge fan. Thank you SO much ! Rick

for flying far back from closeup, if you lock yourself with active track spotlight mode and then do the far maneuver, then you don't need a gimbal wheel to operate manually :)

While you are right, I think the whole point of this particular video is to get YOU to do things manually, rather than relying on automation.

Great video of basic moves that show great results. I feel many people expect a cinematic video to be the result from one single flight and get disappointed when that doesn't happen. A great video starts with a group of single shots as you show them to be followed by some clever editing. Thank you for all your guidance.
@DMProductions

Thank you Ben, cinematic shots can easily be achieved, as you well know that’s only part of the puzzle, next comes the editing !
Great instructional tips and examples Darren. I've been looking to add 'droning' to my long distance bike touring adventures but I've been a bit hesitant because of the learning curve. But your instructional videos have me convinced that with some well thought out practice I could really enhance my post trip presentations. Thanks for all of the super helpful tips and suggestions.
I just wanted to thank you for producing the best instructional videos on KZread. Your videos go beyond telling the viewer what to do and help us learn HOW to do them. I would love to see you produce a series just for boaters if possible as there are some fairly unique elements to launching, retrieving and filming marine video. thanks again!!

At least you crashed your drone, not your friends, like I did.. 😄
For the forward low shot, you can start as low as possible, then start going backwards and ascending. And then you can reverse the video in editing. You don't risk crashing down that way.
Stunning views! Really well done mate :)

Hi Darren, isn't the orbit just pulling the sticks in opposite directions but horizontally? I have not tried diagonally yet, but I wonder the effect. I learned orbit as either both out (left one stright left, right one straight right or left one straight right and right one straight left).
Enjoying your content and looking forward to receiving my mini 3 pro on Saturday. Wish me luck.

I have a DJI mini 2 and will be soon upgrading to the mini 3. But having the mini 2 means 4k at 30 fps. 30 fps is a disaster, but it taught me all of these moves, and they work. You can also pan up the gimbal (raise the camera, up and down) when brining the subject into view as you gain altitude or lower altitude.
I'd like to see anyone top this tutorial. How to do it, watch me, look at the result. Superb!

Love your productions - I really hope you can keep these coming and that you don’t run out of ideas!! I had no idea about the orbit one with pushing both sticks in/outwards to the top…although I do worry about one day testing and pushing them in/out and down because doesn’t that turn off the motors? Guess you’d have to be stupid to do it but it scares me knowing that is a function, unless you have to confirm you actually want to do it via the RC?
Nice one Darren! Simple, straight forward and great examples clips! You going to try a dolly zoom/vertigo effect? I've heard you can do them on a few of the Mavic ranges. Great content on Insta too! 💪🏼🔥🤟🏻

So much to learn here! I will try some of them. But I wonder how to determine the relative height of objects. I'm new to drones, but I'm thinking I could center the gimbal and then move the drone up/down till the grid-crosshairs are seen on top of the object, or is there some other trick?
