This is the best beginners video I've watched. I just got my mini 3 a few days ago. Took it out for it's first flight, but it was too cold on the fingers as it was about minus 5 Celsius. Going to wait till the weather warms a bit in Newfoundland. I did take short video and it kept saying my gimble was stuck. Come to find out - I didn't take the shipping foam away that holds the gimble in place. I hope I didnt damage it. I'll find out when I fire it up again. Thanks for this. Going to refer to it again when I get a chance to take it out again. Soon I hope. :o)

Thanks for a great video. Super job. I appreciate you using the older controller without the built in screen! Could not find that on any of the other posted videos. Hi Marcus, a very good tutorial. It should help minimize newbie frustration on launching their first drone. What's nice about DJI drones is that they don't give added frustration as experienced with other drone manufacturers drones. I love flying my new little bird, the Mini 3 that I named Toad, my Mini 3 Pro's name is Frog. I am finding my Toad more fun to fly than the Frog, it seems to be snappier and more responsive. Having those landing leg extensions is also nice. I can't wait for DJI to provide an SDK for the Mini 3. The Mini 3 with a long flight time and being so quiet will make for an ideal mapping drone.

I had no idea how to program a Waypoint mission but I did go out and manually make one. I will post it after I get it on a PC here Marcus. I watched it played back and never touched the controller after I said launch automatically as you did. IT WORKED FINE!! I was so glad to see yours though which was a lot more than mine. Baby Steps with this baby for sure. Way too cold for me outside now so will enjoy your videos and stay inside for a bit. I see a friend from Israel nitified me today 1st day of Chanuka, so GOD Bless all I know and love and enjoy. Holidays are starting soon everywhere now. Ray C. Happy Flying, I did.

Thank you for your flying instructions I have the mini one do not do much with it so not a great pilot over here in Ireland weather not that great I like taking photos of some nice parts of the landscape I realy do not know anything much about drones but when I saw you with the mini three the photo quality looks class compared to the mini one thinking about changing to mini three keep up the good teaching you are doing . Thank you, Marcus, for pointing out the usefulness of the attitude indicator. I usually fly with the map on screen; however, your tip on the attitude indicator changed all that! I occasionally lose sight of my drone (even though I try maintaining VLOS) and hit RTH to locate it again. But not anymore! Now I am able to navigate my drone back to the home point without panicking. Keep up the good work! 👍🏿

Thank you for sharing, once again great content easy to use and understand. By the way there is a nudge take off , Very simple just start the propellers, and then quickly pull down and push up and it should take off on its own. The trick is to be quick with the up and down motion and it should simply take off, just thought I'd might share that with you.....

Great tutorial Marcus i have the mini 2 and mini 3 pro so i probably really didn't need to watch this by do anyway LOL like to mention though there is a zoom on the controller ,by pressing the fn button top right and the scroll wheel at the same time it zooms in way better

Great video, i dont have a laptop/ computer/ tablet. I saw this has a microcard. Do i lose picture quality on this drone if i process/ edit the videos through the app/ phone instead of using the microcard through a laptop, i saw on others it decreases the quality from 4K to 1080p. This is also my first drone and trying to decide also between mini 2 SE or mini 3 is better for me if anyone can advise. Many thanks

You can transfer via WiFi to your phone. I'm not sure if it affects resolution.

I’ve been wanting a drone for years. Now that my two girls are out of college I can now splurge on me . Bought a Mini 3 Pro with the RC controller. My only issue is I live in Orange County, CA. Looking at the Aloft App maps flying areas are far and few between.

You should be able to get LAANC approval to fly in many of those areas.

The DJI Fly app is the best.

You can't beat the user friendly experience of DJI, although a little on the pricey side for beginners, you get a great drone for the money 👍

Yes, in the Fly app. 👍

Homepoint: The drone must be at least 20 mtrs (horizontal!) away from the homepoint to make use of the RTH function

That is correct. 👍 If less than 20 meters from the homepoint the drone will hover in place when RTH is engaged.

Do you have to calibrate the compass each time you go for a fly?

No, I only calibrate if the drones asks for it, or if I see flight anomalies. 👍

If you can afford it the Mini 3 Pro has many more features than the Mini 3.

Great video as always. Having now seen the specs of the Mini 3, I still think the Mini 2 is a better first drone. Unless you want vertical video for social media, the Mini 2 does everything the Mini 3 does for a much lower price point. I don't think the average "hobby flyer" will notice the difference in the extra megapixels in the camera.

@@IdahoQuadcopter I have an android phone. My fly app is set to go into camera view when I switch on drone and controller. If I don't turn on GPS or data roaming I get a message comes up in middle of my screen that says please turn on locations which is my GPS and WiFi before it allows me into the app.

A full end to end tutorial for all of the new christmas drone people! :)
