DJI Mini 2 Speed Test: Over DOUBLE the Speed Limit😱

Фильм және анимация

Storm Malik has hit the UK, so I decide to see how the DJI Mini 2 copes with the wind and perform several speed tests! 😱
Chapters in the video:
00:00 - Intro
02:32 - 29 Jan 2022: Adam's Grave @ 285m / 935ft
08:19 - 06 Feb 2022: Broad Hinton @ 192m / 630ft
10:35 - 06 Feb 2022: Hackpen Hill @ 272m / 892ft
13:48 - 06 Feb 2022: Barbury Castle @ 262m / 860ft
16:50 - 30 Dec 2021: Barbury Castle @ 262m / 860ft
Drone Hacks website: drone-hacks.com/
Below are the steps I used for adding Atti Mode to the DJI Mini 2:
01: Register and buy you unlock license at Drone Hacks (optional)
02: Download the Windows 10 (or Mac) Drone Hacks software
03: Install and run it, enter your email and password
04: Get a USB C cable connected to your PC
05: Power on your Mini 2, as soon as it beeps, plug the USB C lead into the drone
06: If OK, it will say there is an available license to use, do you wish to apply it, select OK
07: Apply both Hacks on the Hacking tab, follow the instructions.
08: At this point I would perform a test flight, and make sure the hack has taken
09: Then, back in the tool with the Mini 2 connected, select the Hack Parameters tab
10: Then select the Advanced Parameters button
11: Search for ‘mode’, there should be 3 similar Flight switch position parameters …
- fswitch_selection|g_config_control_control_mode[0] = Tripod : factory value = 12 (Tripod)
- fswitch_selection|g_config_control_control_mode[1] = Sport: factory value = 8 (Sport)
- fswitch_selection|g_config_control_control_mode[2] Position (GPS): factory value =7 (Position)
12: Change Tripod value from 12 to 3, as 3 = Attitude Mode
13: Save and then select Write Parameters to Drone (or something like that).
For Steps 1-7, thats the basic applying of the Drone Hack, they have YT videos on the Drone Hacks website showing you how to do that. Very helpful.

This video has been created to see how well the DJI Mini 2 handles in extreme windy conditions in Attitude flight mode. I do not encourage that you try this yourself. If you choose to do so, I take no responsibility, you do so at your own risk. When flying in Attitude mode for the first time, be sure to find a wide open space, like the country side, with no-one and nothing around you. Safety first 👍

Great b roll intro, Chris! I've never flown in ATTI mode. I tried to replace a leg on my Air and wound up sending DJI a box full of parts. Glad the glue worked so far. When I commented on your vid last night, my video was encoding (for about an hour). That's when I saw your boots scene - I couldn't believe the coincidence. Great minds think alike. Glad the intro worked out. I haven't swapped the leg yet, not sure I will until I need to. It is still rock solid - and if it can handle all those tests, a bit of leisurely flying should be fine. When I do, hopefully I won't end up sending the drone in bits back to DJI. Thanks for the kind words, this was by far most challenging one. It seems to be gaining some views, so fingers crossed this will help the channel. Regardless, all good fun 👍

Congratulations on the achievement. I do similar things myself, maybe I experiment more with height and distance, but your performance is impressive. However, I will give you one piece of advice. Master Airscrew propellers have a smaller profile angle, only 21mm, which makes them quieter, but less effective against the wind. The original propellers have a 26mm angle, they are louder, but much more effective against the wind. Master Airscrew propellers will be better for long distance flights because they will be more ergonomic. I am willing to establish closer contact with you in order to exchange experiences. Greetings.

Nice video, for the life of me can't understand why so many drone owners are afraid to test their tech. These thigs are marvelous pieces of engineering, they'll fly as high as you need them to, as fast as they say they will and as far. If you lose signal the damn GPS takes you straight to it in a forced landing plus you get that last few seconds of footage to be aware of surroundings. Most drone owners act like babies lol if they can't see it with their eyes they wet their damn pants grow up people.
