    I'm very happy with the accuracy of the RTH of this tiny little drone, I don't feel the need for it to land perfectly on spot, so the 1m-2m zone it lands in is fine for me.

    Before flying away....after calibrating everything and ready to take off.....take off and go to about 10 meters straight up and hover there for a few seconds. Now continue to take off and see if that helps. Also you should reset the RTH point every time. The bottom line is it is dependent on GPS accuracy which is about what you are getting...in fact actually a bit better. I have the MINI 2 and am very satisfied. Yes there are some features missing but that is expected for the money otherwise why would DJI have more expensive drones with more features. I think it is an amazing piece of technology at the current state of the hobby and price point.

    I bought the DJI Mini 2 and I am in the adaptation and training phase (a few years ago I practiced aeromodelling) and I have two questions: the phone that is used in the controller, besides allowing the visualization of the image, does it have any other function during the flight? What to do if the phone hangs up for any reason. Thanks.

  • @PhillipSkraba

    @PhillipSkraba

    3 жыл бұрын

    The phone is very important, without it you can't see where you're going. If it hangs up you could be in trouble if you're not prepared. So you HAVE to set Return to Home before you take off. Set it to a height above any obstacles around where you are flying, trees, buildings, etc. If the phone looses signal, the drone will start flying up to the Return to Home height and back to you at that height until it reaches its home point, then it lands itself. So make sure you set that before flying in case anything happens.

    If you want it for photos both are great, if you want it for video and specifically tracking shots the Air 2 is the winner, but if you just want something for great photos, I did a prints film recently and a some video here and there, the Mini 2 is excellent and as you probably know needs to license. • @PhillipSkraba

    @PhillipSkraba

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi! Well, the problem is if you're quite low to the water or snow, the Mini 2 might be tricked into thinking it's lower than it really is, so it could possibly auto-land, that's the only problem. They advise to keep 15m above water and snow to avoid this, I usually fly a lot lower. Yes I fly over water and snow a lot, and I've never any problems, but I'm very aware of the drone and what stupid ideas it could have, if you're a beginner and your drone starts auto-landing it could stress you out and you might loose your drone. So over water keep it 15m+ to be safe, if it does show you it wants to auto-land press cancel immediately. Like I said though, I've never had any problems with this, it's just a caution from DJI.

    If there is an obstacle in the way of the RTH path the Mini 1 and Mini 2 will fly straight into it. It has no obstacle avoidance, it will not even flinch, it'll just smack right into a tree, building, car, so you have to set your RTH to a safe height above all buildings and trees or you'll have a problem.

    It is super rock solid! I've flown this thing in some of the craziest places in some of the worst weather possible, and it's held up like a pro. As long as you set your RTH to RTH and set the RTH height above any obstacles you're flying around, trees, buildings, etc, then you'll have nothing to worry about. You can loose connection, you can fall asleep, faint, doesn't matter, this little guy will fly up to the RTH height, back to you and land. Yes, the results from this drone are amazing.

    I thought if you update home point while in the air, it becomes the controller position.

    With DJI you can usually either update to your controller or to where the drone currently is.

    On your inital take off, the drone drifted a few feet towards you away from the pad and THEN you reset home. So of course is wasn't going to land on the pad. Plus, the DJI documentation states that the GPS is only accurate to around a meter so I'd say the RTH performed exactly as it should have here.

    Yep, that sounds all about right. It does a really good job, mind you, I've only ever used that feature for these tests, I prefer to blast it home myself.

    Very good results, RTH is about getting back to where it started from, not necessarily landing on a sixpence, it doesn’t have precision landing like my mavic pro, you don’t say you calibrated EVERYTHING first, you didn’t let it stabilise its GPS, try that lot and please redo

    Hi Ian, I've done this experiment with the Mini 2 about 60+ times before I made this video, and I did it in so many different places and different ways, no matter what I did, it would always land in the same zone. Like you said though, this isn't a pro drone, and DJI wouldn't want that advanced technology in an entry drone, I think they've already packed it full of great features as it is.

    Great job Brother, Can the mini 2, ever have a firmware update, to have precision landing, or it has to have a better GPS installed in the Drone at the Factory, I guess a better GPS would bring the weight up, I wish it would be better.and What do you think about the Litchi. App for the mini 2, could that app make the mini 2 better precision landing. Please forgive me if these are dumb questions I need all the help I can get. Thank you Brother. Sincerely your freind from Mo Rick and God bless you and your family

    Hi Ricky, I think DJI does this specially so not to add all the high end options to its entry level drone. Landing a drone like the Mini 2 in such close vicinity automatically is still incredible, and I think the 2m zone is amazing, more than we need. My Mavic 2 Pro lands almost perfectly, sometimes 50cm off, so for this little guy that's not bad. Litchi is an interesting app that is continuously being updated, but be careful with it as the Mini 2 has no avoidance sensors, so Litchi could land it in some trouble.
